Stargazing, A Dallas Stars Puckcast – Episode 309: Features, Not Bugs

The rise of advanced stats in hockey has taught us that much of what we know about the Dallas Stars is bad. Just look at them: 31st in the NHL in shot share, 24th in expected goals…so how in the world do they just – keep – winning? Wes and Mark have decided that this year’s Stars were built this way on purpose. And in this edition of Stargazing, they make the case. They discuss the type of…

Stars stonewall Maple Leafs 5-1

Dallas returned home Sunday night to take on Toronto after a west coast sweep of the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks. The Leafs, who sat at the bottom of the league at the time of the game, played a tighter game than Dallas might have liked, but ultimately fell 5-1. Both clubs looked flat in the opening ten minutes of the game and spent a lot of time struggling to maintain possession of…

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Tuesday, December 23

Season’s Greetings, Stars fans! It’s our last game day before Christmas, and I’m hoping for a goal or eight in my stocking. I’m not sure it’s too much to ask, being the Stars are on a 4-game winning streak in which they’ve outscored their opponents 22-8. And that 8 is generous. Tonight, we have an early matchup against the – checks notes – Atlantic Division-leading Detroit Red Wings. Wait.

Dallas Stars Daily Links: Wednesday, December 24

Happy Christmas Eve, Stars fans. The next time we see the Victory Green Gang in action, they’ll be back in the AAC, so let’s take a look at what happened during their last day on the road: Sounds like Glen Gulutzan isn’t especially worried about losing a point to an Eastern Division team. Meanwhile, Robo and Daddy show you how to just move your feet and be on fire. Easy, right?

Dallas falls to Chicago 4-3 in shootout loss

The Stars lost to the Blackhawks in a tight game Saturday night at home. Chicago had lost six straight games and seemed to come into American Airlines Center with a plan to end that streak. Dallas, also fresh off a loss, had plenty of good shot opportunities, but the team could not connect. Turnovers abounded and shots kept going wide, but they held their own until a shootout that turned in…

Stargazing, A Dallas Stars Puckcast – Episode 310: Built This Way, Part 1

It’s a new year bringing the same old worries for Dallas Stars fans. Every mistake is a harbinger, every loss is a world-ender. Have we gotten too used to the good times? In this episode, Wes and Mark invited David Castillo to talk about the Victory Green Gang’s underlying stats – and, candidly, to talk them down from the rickety ledge of Stars positivity. And they had so much to talk about…

Another Stars overtime loss

Dallas fell 4-3 in overtime to the Montreal Canadiens Sunday afternoon at home. This is Dallas’ fifth loss in a row, although three of those have been in overtime. Although it is not ideal, Glen Gulutzan said he is not in panic mode yet. The head coach emphasized that he is taking things day by day and is hopeful his team’s record will improve on the impending roadtrip.
