Alright, we used to have an entire board for this on the old forum, but now we just have a topic. So, who still collects sports cards around here? I have pretty much gotten out of the hobby, but I still do buy a card on eBay every once in a while. If you guys remember on the old forum, I pretty much decided that I would start collecting cards of Vanderbilt alumni. It had been months since I had even logged onto eBay, but I decided to buy this card on eBay last night. I have a lot of fond memories of D.J. Moore from the season Vandy won the Music City Bowl. I offered $2.50 and it was accepted. I am pretty sure I could have gotten it for less since D.J. Moore hasn't really been very good in his first few seasons in the NFL, but I am not complaining. It's sentimental value to me. :P

So, what about you guys? :)

I have a vast collection of baseball cards (thousands) and I still collect, but I feel myself drifting away from collecting commons and more so hoping for a big hit. (Which hardly ever occurs for me, I am very unlucky when it comes to sports cards.) However, I still sent commons out TTM and enjoy breaking packs.

I don't collect sports cards due to the fastly increasing value and how much you have to pay for the cards! Even if I was to do it for a profit, it takes way to long to actually gain value in the cards. Sometimes they'll even lose value! However, my dad does have some cards so I'll probably get them eventually and hold on to them until they get some decent value! Sports cards used to be worth it, but not so much anymore unless you bought them a while back.

I just bought this card on eBay for $5.00 with free shipping. He wanted $9.99 and he had set it as buy it now or best offer, so I sent in a $5.00 offer and he accepted it. :)

MAILDAY! 2000 Upper Deck SP Top Prospects First Impressions Dan Langhi autograph. It's an awful video, but it will do. I paid $1.25 with free shipping for the card. :D

Ive got alot of sports cards, id be willing to sell alot of them. Hmu man.

I might be interested in buying any cards of Vanderbilt alumni. Even if they're just base cards, I might be interested in buying them depending on what your price is. :P

Free shipping on sports cards? :o

That is quite a rarity. The only things I've picked up free shipping on are some electronic items. :P Are you sure you weren't using a student pass?

My new favorite card. 2011 Topps Marquee Acclaimed Impressions Jeff Niemann three color dual relic auto card, numbered 007/400. I bought this off of eBay for $5.00 with free shipping. I love this card. :P

2011 Topps Precision Vincent Brown rookie jumbo relic auto. Not numbered, but I think it is a nice card. I paid $2.70 with free shipping. I think it was a steal. :P

I collect lot's of sports cards! I collect alot of the 1st overall draft pick rookie cards because they will be worth a lot of money in the future..like Sidney Crosby! I keep them all in mint condition. Barely look at them.

i used to collect them, the last time i bought a lot was around 2010. i got a Dale Jarrett auto ??/25 pulled from a retail pack. My favorite is a florida panthers team colors card, 8swatch piece with a serial number.

I have not bought anything lately, but I have not posted in this topic in a while anyways. I bought a 2012 Topps Platinum David DeCastro rookie auto (not numbered) for $2.01 with free shipping on eBay a few weeks ago.

I've bought a Damian Lillard rookie jersey, Larry Sanders rookie jumbo jersey #/99, will barton rookie auto #/499, kyrie irving rookie jersey, kevin durant rookie, kevin love auto #/49, and a derrick favors/wesley johnson dual rookie auto #/49.

I was listening to the radio earlier in the month and a family's grandfather (or father I forgot) had passed away and his family found a bag with seven authentic Ty Cobb baseball cards which are apparently really rare. So rare that they we were worth more than $1 million. It almost makes me want to start collecting them just in case they are worth a whole lot some day. lol

Do you collect baseball cards?

Not anymore, but I had collected baseball cards as a kid. The best one's of my collection were probably a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. Then I had a Cecil Fielder rookie card that I thought was pretty cool. Neither of which was super valuable. They may still be collecting dust in my parents closets.

Does anyone still collect sports cards? I know they still sell standard packs but those are nearly worthless. Or are they?

I've seen, and guessed by the previous comments in this thread, that everyone mostly values the autograph and jersey cards?
