Quick bites: Ducks upset Sharks 7-6 in overtime

Macklin Celebrini was frustrated. The San Jose Sharks have been here before in overtime, where composure matters most. Celebrini jumped the gun, and then it was too late. The puck dropped at 7:08 pm at the SAP Center, and the Sharks were off to a slower start than usual, but things started to pick up. Sam Dickinson’s first shift went pretty well, and let’s just say physical.

Hurricanes at Sharks game 3: Lines, game thread and how to watch

Get ready San Jose Sharks fans because #TheFutureIsTeal is about to get tealer? More teal? Cyan? The point is, Michael Misa is about to debut. We had to wait a few games into the season, but it’s finally happening. The Sharks have told Misa that he’ll be suiting up for his first game tonight. This will be the first time we’ll see Misa and Sam Dickinson in the lineup together.

Quick bites: Sharks swept away by the storm

The San Jose Sharks are still searching for that first win of the season and with a game like the one the team played last night, San Jose could be searching for a while. The Sharks were outmatched and outplayed by a much better and much more composed Carolina Hurricanes team that was able to execute where the Sharks were not. What resulted was a 5-1 loss where the Sharks struggled to find footing…

Fear the Five: It could be worse

Okay, so the San Jose Sharks’ season has not started out the way we, the fans, had hoped. Obviously, these past two losses have been very difficult to take and have left us with a lot of feelings of doom and gloom. However, it’s time to put these feelings of frustration and anger into perspective because it’s only two games into the season and there are still 80 more games to go. What’s more…

Sharks claim defenseman Vincent Iorio off waivers

The San Jose Sharks have claimed defenseman Vincent Iorio off of waivers, taking the 22-year-old right-shot defenseman out of the Washington Capitals system. Iorio will join the Sharks in Utah today, possibly solving one of the team’s immediate problems and creating an issue for a later date. Yesterday morning, the Sharks place Timothy Liljegren on injured reserve, taking one of the team’s…

Sharks at Mammoth game 4: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks continue to make small moves to fill what the team sees as a hole in its prospect pool. The Sharks made another trade today, sending forward Oskar Olausson to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for right-shot defenseman Kyle Masters. It’s the second right-shot defenseman the Sharks have obtained in the past 36 hours. The team also claimed Vincent Iorio off waivers from…

Quick bites: Sharks gored by Mammoth, Schmaltz

The San Jose Sharks lost to the Utah Mammoth and, most specifically, Nick Schmaltz on Friday night, by the score of 6-3. Schmaltz had a hat trick in the win and the Sharks fell to 0-2-2 to start the season, remaining the only team in the NHL without a win. The Sharks didn’t get off to the best of starts last night and dug a hole early in the game. After that, it was a steep slope to climb…

Quick bites: Sharks shutout by Pittsburgh, but there’s more to the story

The scoreboard says 3–0, but if you watched the game, you know: this wasn’t a total wash. The Pittsburgh Penguins rolled into San Jose on Saturday night, bringing with them a very locked-in version of Tristan Jarry. With goaltending like that, the Penguins didn’t need much room to do damage. The San Jose Sharks had moments (a lot of them, actually), but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Penguins at Sharks game 5: Lines, game thread and how to watch

The San Jose Sharks will have a chance to have short memories tonight and flip the script against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins were snug in their beds when the Sharks returned to San Jose from Utah, so look for a well rested Pittsburgh bunch and an angry Sharks team with something to prove. Pittsburgh is on the final stop of its three game California swing. This is the rubber match.
