You need to look up the definition of gay. On Dictionary.com, it links to "homosexual" in the definition, then "homosexual" links to "homesexuality," and then the definition is this:
sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex.

Gay mean that you like people of your own gender. It doesn't say that it has to only be people in that gender though. So, if you are bisexual, you are technically gay; seeing as bisexual means you like people of your own sex, which is the basic straightforward definition of gay.

So I guess you can only be gay or straight...bisexuality is just a subcategory of homosexuality.
