It took 112 minutes and 8 seconds, but the Chicago Blackhawks are one step closer to the Stanley Cup.
The Blackhawks rallied from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits on Wednesday night before beating the Boston Bruins 4-3 in triple overtime to capture Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final at United Center. Chicago got third-period goals by Dave Bolland and Johnny Oduya, and no one scored again until Andrew Shaw's deflection went past Tuukka Rask 12:08 into the third extra period.
It was the fifth-longest in the history of the Stanley Cup Final. Here are some of the key numbers from a game for the ages.
1 -- Career playoff goals for Chicago rookie Brandon Saad, who didn't score through three rounds this spring but fired home a shot 3:08 into the second for his first postseason goal.
2 -- Penalties for having too many men on the ice called against Chicago in overtime. Chicago took only one other penalty in the game.
3 -- Goals this spring by Chicago defenseman Johnny Oduya, who tied the game with 7:46 left in regulation. Oduya managed three goals during the regular season.
4 -- Victories by the Blackhawks in their four Game 1s this spring. Boston was 3-0 in series openers before losing Wednesday night.
5 -- Rank of Chicago's Game 1 victory on the list of longest games in the history of the Stanley Cup Final. It was 3:05 short of the record set by the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the 1990 Final.

15 -- Series this spring that have had at least one overtime game -- the first time that's happened since the Stanley Cup Playoffs went to an all best-of-7 format in 1987. Wednesday's game was the 25th this spring that has gone past regulation -- and the 19th won by the home team.
22 -- Plus rating this spring for Boston forward Nathan Horton, who was plus-1 in Game 1. Horton, who left in the first overtime with an injury, leads all players this spring in plus-minus rating. No player has had a better plus-minus figure in a full playoff season since 1985, when Wayne Gretzky was plus-28, Paul Coffey was plus-26 and Jari Kurri went plus-24 as the Edmonton Oilers won the Cup.
23 -- Points this spring for Boston center David Krejci after he set up the Bruins' first two goals. Krejci leads all scorers this spring, already has more points than any player in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is on target to finish first in postseason scoring for the second time in the last three postseasons.
32 -- Years since a home team had won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final in overtime. Chicago's victory was the first since the New York Islanders beat the Vancouver Canucks in the series opener on a goal by Mike Bossy at 19:58 of OT.
70 -- Consecutive saves by Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask before Chicago's Brandon Saad scored 3:08 into the second period. Rask had not allowed a goal since Chris Kunitz of the Pittsburgh Penguins scored 8:51 into the second period in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final.
78 -- Years since the Stanley Cup Final started with back-to-back overtime games in Game 1. The Final opened with OT in Game 1 in 1934 and again in '35; this year's game followed a series-opening overtime victory on the road by the Los Angeles Kings against the New Jersey Devils.
132 -- Shots attempted by the Blackhawks. They scored on four, saw Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask stop 59 more, missed the net on 23 and had 40 blocked by the Bruins' defense. Boston attempted 85 shots, 54 of which were on net.
