Well there has been some speculation recently about the MLB realigning the teams. There are some current problems with the MLB alignment right now. First off, there are only 4 teams in the American League West, compared to the National league Central where there are 6 teams. That really is not fair, because the teams in the AL West, have a 1 in 4 chance of making the playoffs, while the NL Central teams only have a 1 in 6 chance. So that is a big problem, and I have always thought that needs to be changed.
So what realignment will be done? From what I have heard, there is a rumor that the Houston Astros from the National League Central will move into the American League West. This will solve the problem of the uneven divisions I talked about above. What this also will do is create a great rivalry between the Astros and the Rangers, as they are both Texas teams.
But then their are some things that would need to change with the schedule. Well if there are 15 teams in each league, that means their will need to be interleague play throughout the entire season because 15 is an odd number and you won't be able to play a team in your league every series. I personally like the idea of having interleague play throughout. It will let teams get to see other teams more often. For example, the Cubs and Yankees are playing next week, and that is the first time they have faced each other in a very long time. In NFL, and NBA they have "Interleague Play" throughout the season, and it works just fine.
So what I am saying here, is that the MLB is in need of a realignment. Hopefully things get solved, and what I said above is what the MLB will have in a few years.
