Chicago Cubs head coach Mike Quade was fired yesterday after just one season with the team. He finished well below .500, and didn't do much for the team. With their new owner, Theo Epstein, he was fired. The Cubs are rebuilding. They have announced they want a coach with Major League experience. Terry Francona, former Red Sox manager, is a very likely candidate to fill the spot.

Thoughts?

Theo Epstein isn't the owner of the Chicago Cubs, he's the "President of Baseball Operations," is what they say. I think it would be really cool to see Terry Francona and Theo Epstein team up and try to do what they did with the Red Sox, with the Cubs.

The Cubs needed to do this....Quade wasn't doing any better for the Cubs than the past few previous managers did, possibly even worse.

I think it's stupid to fire a coach after only one season. Building a good team takes some time...

Impatient move on the Cubs part imo.

Yeah you need to give him more than a year, but I guess if they really want to rebuild, this is where to start. Got to start from the bottom up. Fix the front office of the team, then start working on actual players on the team.

Exactly, the Pirates don't fire their manager every year, do they? ;)On the other hand, I do think the Cubs would be better off with Francona.
