When I was younger, I played baseball a lot. When I was in coach pitch, I played left field. But one day, the coach decided to put me as Pitcher for some reason. I played a couple innings and wasn't too sure I enjoyed being that close to the person hitting the ball with me dead center of his hitting zone.

So the 3rd inning, we have one person on first and a new batter up. He hits the ball dead at me, the coach jumps away quick and the ball hits me dead in the chest, but I caught it. Everyone screaming and yelling, wondering if I was alright, I quickly threw it to first place to get the double play, because I had caught the ball and the person on first ran to second.

It hurt like hell, but it was exciting to get that double play in return. I never played pitcher again and have been scared of the ball ever since.

I did try to play again in the minor leagues, but I hadn't played in a few years and just my luck, the coach put me at 3rd. Not telling anyone of my past experiences with getting hit in the chest, I stuck it out. When the ball came my way, it was the worst feeling. Not diving for it at times and hearing people complain, not knowing that I was scared of the ball was embarrassing. I eventually quit playing baseball. Thought about playing in highschool, but didn't want to go through the embarrassment of playing horrible again.

Wait, so you played baseball in the minor leagues but didn't play it in high school? How exactly do you go pro when you're scared of the ball? I'm confused....

That's always been my least favorite thing about pitching. I don't play organized baseball and never have, but whenever I play it with friends I try to avoid pitching.
