Pelicans Executive Provides Injury Update On Derik Queen

New Orleans Pelicans rookie Derik Queen went down in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with a hand injury. The surgery was expected to keep Queen out for at least 12 weeks before he'd be re-evaluated, meaning he's likely to miss the start of the season. At five weeks out from the season, Pelicans head of basketball operations Joe Dumars provided an update on Queen while on the broadcast of the preseason game between the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints. "Queen is doing well," Dumars stated.

Latest Offseason Ranking Should Give Hawks Fans Faith In New Front Office

The Atlanta Hawks are not usually the team that gets praise for their offseason prowess and decision making, but you would be hard-pressed to find someone who follows the NBA who does not like what the Hawks have done this offseason. Things got started with the big three-team trade that landed the Hawks Kristaps Porzingis and they continued into the actual free agent period. Atlanta signed arguably the top free agent on the market when they inked former Timberwolves guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker to a four-year $62 million deal and then free agent sharpshooter Luke Kennard signed a one-year 11$ million deal.

Does Trading Trey Murphy III to the Golden State Warriors Make Sense?

The New Orleans Pelicans followed up one of the best seasons in franchise history with one of the worst, and fell three spots in the NBA Draft lottery on top of that. With their seventh overall pick, the Pelicans selected Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears. Additionally, they traded up to the 13th pick to select Maryland center Derik Queen, making a controversial trade as a result. Now, heading into the 2025-26 season, the Pelicans have a roster featuring newcomers in Fears and Queen to go along with offseason acquisitions Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney, and Saddiq Bey.
