I have read many articles about this matter. Do you think that old persons are able to do sports? Do you believe that they have the right to do sports? Have you ever seen an old person who played basketball, or soccer or any other sport? What are your thoughts?
Personally, I believe that old persons have the right to do sports. They are humans, right? My grand-parent used to play basketball and I must say that he was very good. I think that the best sport for old people is swimming, because its refreshing and very helpful.

Every old person has different kind of physical condition. If the old person is capable of walking and running, I am sure they can play certain sports.

This is a recent picture of Harrison Ford. He's 71.

So yeah, it all depends on the person.

I believe that they can, as long as they and their doctors or whom should be concerned about them think that they're fit enough and eligible there is no need to stop them from doing so. The more elderly people we get active the better it will be for them, instead of them sitting at home all day doing nothing but converse with their fellow elderly friends and watch T.V. :)

I believe that they are well able, I know a lot of old people who do a lot of swimming and are very strong in the water. I guess they do this sport because it less demanding on the body bone structure and, less impact, so it prevents arthritis. If a person is able and wants to play, what is to stop him, its not fair to discriminate someone on their age.

Yeah. If it's not gonna hurt them, there shouldn't be any reason to stop them from playing.

How old are we talking about? Because I've seen some outfield soccer player who're still playing when they're already 40+ years old.

They still can play but they won't be as good as they were before since they're a bit slower and not as agile anymore. They'll mostly be used as a substitute because a lot of players are already by the time they came on.

I believe everyone should have the right to play sports regardless of their age. If they are physically able to play sports, then why not? Some older people are actually very healthy and are more than capable of playing sports.

I have played a futsal tournament in Malta and my team was in semi-finals against the 'grandpa' team. They called that team like that because they had a guy who was at that time 65 and he was the only one who never got substituted. We lost to them by a goal and he scored two of their goals. There are no boundaries, there is no age question on this. If you can you play. I was not in a good form since I was very sick in that period but I played anyway and I felt ashamed of myself but proud at the same time to have played against this great man.

There are many places that I have lived that have entire senior leagues for basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, and other sports.  Keeping active is always a good thing as long as you don't exceed your own ability.  Playing with others in your age group keeps things competitive, but reasonably fair and it also provides a great social time for older folks, too.  I even know some older folks that are fairly frail and don't have the ability to play any longer that I would consider super-fans of some local and high school teams around here and never miss a game.  I suppose even that is a way to remain involved since some of them are no longer able to compete.
