Hey guys, this is just a thread to post and discuss offseason moves.

Torii Hunter and the Detroit Tigers reached an agreement to a 2 year, $26 million deal. Another former Twin playing for the Tigers...it seems like they always end up back in the AL Central and we end up facing them pretty frequently.

The Miami Marlins agreed to a huge trade with the Blue Jays that sends Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio to Toronto in exchange for several prospects. I think the Marlins probably gave away too much in this trade, but I don't really know anything about the prospects, so I can't be sure.

The Cubs signed former Twins pitcher Scott Baker to a 1-year deal.

The Marlins have signed Juan Pierre to a one-year, $1.6 million contract. Wow, the Marlins do not seem to have any sense of direction. I don't think they know what they're doing.

Just a rundown of stuff that has happened these past couple weeks:

Mariano Rivera signed a one-year $10 million deal with the Yankees.
Andy Pettitte signed a one-year $12 million deal with the Yankees.
Jeremy Guthrie signed a three-year deal with the Royals.
DeWayne Wise signed a one-year $700,00 deal with the White Sox.
Ryan Madson signed a one-year deal with the Angels.
The Braves have traded Tommy Hanson to the Angels for Jordan Walden.
The Braves signed Gerald Laird.
B.J. Upton signed a five-year $75.25 million deal with the Braves.
The Twins traded Denard Span to the Nationals for Alex Meyer.
David Wright signed an eight-year $138 million deal with the Mets.
Evan Longoria signed a six-year contract extension with the Rays, plus there's the four years that are still left from the previous contract. That means he is locked in through 2022, and there's a club option for 2023.

Pirates traded Yamaico Navarro to the O's for a 19 year old pitcher with a weird name and a PTBNL
Pirates traded Chris Resop to the A's in exchange for minor league pitcher Zack Thorton.

I think it's a good move even if it ends up being like what the Rockies have done with Todd Helton or what the Yankees have done with Alex Rodriguez. The Rays are the type of team that makes a lot of changes to stay contenders. It's necessary with them being gutted on a yearly basis. :P

It's good for the fans for their team to have a franchise player that they feel comfortable buying a jersey of, because they know the player will be playing for their team for his entire career. When you have trade rumors surrounding just about every single player, it makes it difficult for fans to be supportive when they have to learn new names every year. It's awesome to have their first legitimate franchise player. Evan Longoria should go on to spend the rest of his career playing for the Rays. That is just unheard of for this franchise, when you look at what happened with Carl Crawford and B.J. Upton. Both of these players are in the best players in franchise history, but they both went on for bigger money opportunities elsewhere. The one thing I don't like is that they probably won't be able to keep anyone else long term because of this big contract, and that's including their ace that I love the most, David Price. :P

The Phillies acquired Ben Revere from the Twins today in exchange for pitchers Vance Worley and Trevor May.

First Span and now Revere....possibly my two favorite players for the Twins...

The Rangers have traded Michael Young to the Phillies for reliever Josh Lindblom and prospect Lisalverto Bonilla. This is messed up. Michael Young was the Rangers franchise player, so he should have finished his career with them. He is a fan favorite type of guy. Rangers fans love him.

The Rays have traded James Shields and Wade Davis to the Royals for outfielder Wil Myers, right-hander Jake Odorizzi, left-hander Mike Montgomery and third baseman Patrick Leonard. I like this trade. Will Myers could be something special to replace B.J. Upton in the outfield and hopefully complement Evan Longoria offensively, and we got a couple pitchers that might have spots in the bullpen in the future. Also, another third baseman is good just in case Evan Longoria has an injury.

Yeah, I'm not even a Rangers fan, but I loved him too. I agree that they should've kept him.

The Mariners signed Jason Bay to a 1-year contract yesterday. I just don't get what teams see in Jason Bay...

The LA Dodgers signed Zack Greinke today to a 6-year deal worth around $147 million. It's the largest contract ever for a right-handed pitcher, and the 2nd largest for a pitcher ever. (C.C. Sabathia's contract with the Yankees in 2009 was worth $161 million.)

Going with my Pirates themed news:

Pirates resigned reliever Jason Grilli to a two year deal.

Former Pirate Nate McClouth resigns with the Orioles.
