The NFL has suspended 4 players on the New Orleans Saints for their roles in the bounty program scandal. LB Jonathan Vilma will be banned for the entire season.

DT Anthony Hargrove, who is now with the Green Bay Packers was banned for 8 games, DE Will Smith, still with the Saints, was suspended 4 games, and now-Browns LB Scott Fujita was suspended 3 games.

All four suspensions are without pay.

The Saints signed LBs Curtis Loften and David Hawthorne this offseason, so they must have expected something like this to happen.

Thoughts?

Saints have gotten what they deserve. But why these 4 players. They must have had some evidence that these players were involved in the Bounty scandal, but what evidence do they have. And if they do have some evidence, why weren't there more Saints players suspended. What proof do they have that these players purposely hurt other players?

I think Smith was the one who co-found and funded it with the D-coordinator. Not sure what Fujita and Hargrove did, but Vilma apparently donated like $10,000 to the program.

ESPN.com has the reasons for them, I'm pretty sure.

The whole season seems like a lot, but if Vilma was really that involved by donating money I guess that's the correct decision by the commissioner.
