The Notre Dame-Michigan rivalry will be the first effect of the Fight Irish's move to the ACC, as ND told Michigan today that once their contract expires in 2014, it won't be renewed until 2018, meaning that from 2015-17, the teams won't meet. They've played every year since 2002, a before that they played regularly.

Originally, the teams renewed the contract in 2007, and on a 3-year rolling basis (either team could cancel the contract every 3 years) the contract went all the way to 2031.

Kind of sad to hear this. They developed a pretty solid rivalry and it's usually a pretty good game to watch. ND said that the USC, Stanford, and Navy rivalries are the most important to them, so they dropped Michigan, but honestly, who cares about the ND-Navy game?

The Notre Dame and Michigan rivalry has been a big deal for many years now, so this just kind of sucks. I hate all these conference changes and stuff.
