PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Pouncey will undergo surgery, but the Steelers did not say whether he would miss the remainder of the season.

Pouncey suffered the injury on the Steelers' first possession of the game after David DeCastro rolled onto his lower right leg on a running play. Pouncey stayed down on the ground as a hush fell over the crowd at Heinz Field.

The loss of Pouncey left the Steelers with only one extra offensive linemen for the rest of the game.

The Steelers dressed just seven offensive linemen due to the versatility of Kelvin Beachum, a second-year offensive tackle who has taken over at center.

Pouncey is arguably the top center in the NFL, and his teammates elected the 24-year-old as a captain last week. The 6-foot-4, 304-pounder was a first-round draft pick in 2010 and became a starter shortly after the start of his first training camp.

This makes me sick.

Ouch. It's never nice to lose a Pro-Bowl captain of your team, especially in Week 1.
