Matt Flynn to Raiders?

Matt Flynn to Raiders rumors have just been confirmed. A Seattle Seahawks trade of Flynn to the Oakland Raiders is said to be taking place by teammate Doug Baldwin. According to a report from Friday (March 29), Seahawks receiver Baldwin took to Twitter to write, "Wishing Flynn the best on his endeavors in Oakland. Sad to see a friend leave, but excited for his opportunity. Great QB, even better man.” This seems to be a pretty succinct confirmation.

With Flynn set to make $5.25 million during the 2013 NFL season, his salary seemed too expensive for a backup quarterback to make. Many trade rumors surrounded the Seahawks as the offseason began and it looks like a deal has finally been struck. Earlier on Friday it was reported on Examiner that a deal was imminent, but no sources could confirm which franchise that the Seahawks were trying to complete a trade with.

Now it looks like the Matt Flynn to Raiders deal is done and all that is left now is to announce what draft picks the Seattle Seahawks will be getting back in exchange for the quarterback. It's entirely possible that they will be for the 2014 NFL Draft, though, as Oakland doesn't possess very many picks in the 2013 draft order. This also seems to indicate that Carson Palmer's days with the Raiders may also be coming to an end.

While Baldwin seems like a very knowledgeable source in this instance, consider these to be extended trade rumors until the franchise actually releases a statement on the deal.

This was an ideal move as Wilson is our obvious QB of the future. However, we only have one QB on the roster so i don't know if the 2nd string QB will be via free agency, trade, or draft.

Just sign Byron Leftwich I think that this is a good move for the Raiders and Seahawks because the Seahawks are paying him WAY too much and the Raiders need a QB. Now we just have to wait for the Raiders to draft some QB that breaks into the starting lineup.

Good for Flynn and the Seahawks if they get at least a 4th or conditional pick out of the deal and leave enough cap room to extend Chancellor. Arizona would have been better off keeping Kolb and focusing on protecting him. Palmer is just another disaster in AZ.

I could see Flynn possibly starting a few games for the Raiders next season depending on how Palmer does.

The Oakland Raiders acquired quarterback Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks for two draft picks Monday -- a fifth-round pick in the 2014 draft and a conditional pick in 2015.

Both teams announced that the trade had been finalized Monday afternoon.
