Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming (the ability to control your dreams and bend them to your will)? If so, have you lucid dreamed before, and do you do it regularly?

I've heard of it, but never actually tried it. I think I accidentally did it once, or something similar to it, but I'm not sure. Once you realize you're dreaming, you can kind of control it.

I've never done it before, nor have I heard of it. I will have to try it. Sounds interesting.

I've been really interested in lucid dreaming for a while, but I haven't actually tried to make it happen before. I've experienced it once though. Here's my post from the old forum about it:

One night, I fell asleep like usual. I felt like I was asleep for maybe 2 hours or so when I woke up. I was falling off of my bed (I'm on the top bunk), but I had absolutely no control of my body. I figured the best thing to do was to just brace for impact. Then, as I was rolling off my bed I started floating in the air and I went towards my window and looked out. It felt so weird because I could have sworn it was real, and there were stars everywhere in the sky. Next thing I remember, I'm waking up in my bed, but I have no control over my body again. I had that tingly feel that you get when your foot's asleep, but it was all over my body. My brother was downstairs awake on the computer (I could hear the typing/mouse clicking), and I tried to call him to wake me up, as I thought I was half asleep, but my mouth wasn't opening and I couldn't get it to work. Soon I found myself falling off my bed again, as you probably guessed with no control over my body, but this time I actually fell, but I didn't hit the floor. I had descended into some kind of dark, scary, furnace-looking place. There was creepy red writing on the wall which I couldn't focus on since I was falling too fast. That's all I remember until I woke up the next morning.

Not that this has anything to do with lucid dreaming, but while I'm on the topic of dreaming, does anyone else feel like they've predicted the future in any of their dreams?

I went through this stage a few months ago when I was really interesting in dreaming and hypnosis and I felt like I predicted the future once. I swear it was real.

Can't say that I have... but that sounds pretty mystical. :P

If you don't mind, what was the dream about?

It was really weird, I'll have to start at the beginning.

I was in a movie theater in Denver, Colorado with my mom. For some reason the movie "Beauty and the Beast" was on. Then all the sudden a fire breaks out, and everyone starts screaming, while the movie is still playing (Belle and the Beast were dancing at that point). We try to escape the theater, but the rest of the complex was also engulfed in flame. Soon, the fire spreads to the seating area and we are forced to jump onto a ledge that runs around the perimeter of the theater. Then the walls collapse and somehow we escape.

About a week later some mentally ill guy starts a fire in a Colorado movie theater. Weird huh?

I'm pretty sure that some instances of deja-vu happen while dreaming. I've never actually predicted the future though...

I've been interested in lucid dreaming also as a type of astral projection and it's very interesting to learn about. The pineal gland is another part of the brain that I've learned about.

I have never attempted that but my dreams are always lucid and I can recall them when I am up. Most of my dreams relate to walking precariously over bridges with water below
