Checking in with Vojtech Cihar after an MVP-worthy performance at the 2026 World Junior Championships

If there was a standout play from this season’s World Junior Championships from an LA Kings perspective, it came in the semifinals, in a matchup between Canada and Czechia. With the game tied at three midway through the third period, Kings prospect and Czech forward Vojtech Cihar took a pass at the offensive blueline, gaining […]

FINAL – Kings 1, Sabres 4 – Kempe, Ceci, Hiller

The LA Kings saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after tonight’s 4-1 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo opened the scoring on the game’s first power play, with forward Alex Tuch getting the hosts on the board. Working off the right-hand wall, Tuch spun and fired a pass towards the slot, which […]

Nice to see the Kings grab that win in Detroit. Three straight before the Buffalo game was a solid stretch. Helenius getting on the scoresheet again is encouraging - seems like he's finding his groove.

The Cihar article caught my eye too. That semifinal play against Canada sounds like it was something special. Always good to see prospects performing well on the international stage, especially in high-pressure tournament situations like the World Juniors. If he was in the MVP conversation, that bodes well for his development.

Ontario's been rolling too - six straight at home and 10-2 in January is pretty impressive. The pipeline seems healthy right now.

Tough loss to Buffalo though. Losing to a team that's been struggling this season stings a bit, but those back-to-back road games can be tricky. Can't win them all. Hopefully they bounce back in the next one.

Catching up with Taylor Ward after signing a two-year contract extension with the Kings

It’s always nice to see a guy who has earned everything he’s gotten get rewarded for it. Sometimes it takes a player years of proving himself to earn that reward. Sometimes it comes instantly. For Kings forward Taylor Ward, it’s kind of been both. Ward played three full seasons with the AHL’s Ontario Reign before […]

Angeles Analysis – The Trip That Was

Ten days ago, the LA Kings set out on the road, on what had the potential to be a season-defining trip for the organization. Defining can go in either direction, but the opportunity was a huge one. In talking with defenseman Drew Doughty, the Kings certainly felt that way internally as well. He said they […]

Practice 2/3 – “Maintenance Day” for Dumoulin, Anderson/Turcotte day-to-day + Hicketts recalled, Connors to ONT, Today’s Alignment

The LA Kings returned to the ice for practice today at Toyota Sports Performance Center, their final team practice before the Olympic break kicks in on Friday. Couple of things off the top. Three players were not on the ice today – Mikey Anderson, Brian Dumoulin and Alex Turcotte. Anderson and Turcotte are unsurprising. Both […]

Alright so I gotta give credit where credit's due here - 3-1-1 on that road trip is pretty solid work by the Kings. Yeah they dropped the OT game to Carolina but coming back to even GET that point against a good Canes team? That's the kind of resilience you need down the stretch.

Now look, I'm a Sabres guy through and through, so when I see they played Buffalo on that trip I'm curious how that one went. But putting my bias aside for a second, the Kings are putting together a decent season here.

The injury situation is concerning though. Anderson and Turcotte being day-to-day going into the Olympic break is actually decent timing if you think about it - gives them extra time to heal up. Dumoulin getting a "maintenance day" is probably just rest for the old bones, nothing to panic about.

That Reign loss to Coachella Valley though? YIKES. Getting smoked 5-1 at home in front of 9,000 fans ain't great. Only bright spot was Jack Hughes on the PP. The AHL affiliate needs to figure some things out.

Hicketts getting the recall makes sense with the defensive depth taking some hits. Dude's been around the block and can fill in when needed.

Anyone else think the Olympic break coming at a weird time for teams that are rolling? Sometimes that momentum killer can really mess with chemistry.
