Kings Have Hired A New General Manager

Sacramento Kings v Detroit Pistons

The Sacramento Kings didn’t waste any time on Wednesday night, firing their GM Monte McNair shortly after they lost the Play-In game against the Dallas Mavericks and ended the season.

They also didn’t waste time finding a replacement for McNair.

According to Shams Charania, the Kings are finalizing a deal to hire NBA executive Scott Perry as their new general manager.

Perry briefly worked with the Kings in 2017, before he parted ways to work for the New York Knicks.

Back in 2000, he started his career with the Detroit Pistons.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 17, 2025

This won’t be the last change we see from the Kings in the months ahead, but it sure is a big one.

Perry will be tasked with getting the roster in order and also overseeing any coaching changes that could be coming.

However, some recent reporting said that Doug Christie’s job is probably safe, so Perry will instead look at acquiring talent through trades.

Back in 2023, the Kings were one of the hottest teams in the league and took a 2-0 series lead over the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs.

It was their first postseason appearance in nearly two decades.

But then they lost that series and things haven’t been the same since, with the team going 46-36 last season, losing to the Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans in the Play-In Tournament, and then struggling all this year.

Adjustments are obviously needed, but it’s not clear which direction Perry will take the team.

Will he trade away some of the biggest names, such as Domantas Sabonis?

Or will he try to make smaller tweaks to the lineup?

Perry has his work cut out for him, and he’s ready to start planning ahead.

Mike Brown Is Being Considered For NBA Coaching Job

Portland Trail Blazers v Sacramento Kings

(Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)

Mike Brown has been out of a job for a few months since he was fired by the Sacramento Kings, but he may not stay unemployed for much longer.

According to a new report from Michael Scotto, per Legion Hoops, Brown is “among the candidates for the Suns head coaching job.”

Earning another coaching position so soon after being fired would be an honor for Brown, but would he be walking into a huge mess in Phoenix?

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) April 16, 2025

During his career, Brown has worked with many teams.

He started as an assistant coach with the Washington Wizards before moving on to the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers.

He got his first shot at being head coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers and worked there until he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers.

His recent run with the Sacramento Kings saw some promising success, but he was let go this season after a 13-18 start to the year.

The Kings had a lot of problems this year, but the Suns had even more.

If they hire Brown, he will be just the latest in a long line of men tasked with making the superteam work.

But there is a good chance the Suns will look very different next season, and there are many rumors of the team trading Kevin Durant in the offseason.

Therefore, Brown could be coming to a team that is in a rebuilding process and looking for a brand new direction.

Brown surely isn’t the only name being tossed around for this job, and the competition to get it will be fierce.

Is he the sort of coach the team needs at this very troubling time in their history?

Odds Show Betting Favorite To Land Domantas Sabonis

Is Domantas Sabonis’ time with the Sacramento Kings coming to an end?

The team just got pushed out of the Play-In Tournament, and now they have to ask serious questions related to their roster and future.

A lot of fans think Sabonis could be sent to a new team in the summer, especially if the Kings commit to a big rebuilding project.

According to Bovada, per NBACentral, the Indiana Pacers have the best odds of acquiring Sabonis.

They have +600 odds, followed by the Charlotte Hornets with +700, the Portland Trail Blazers with +800, the Toronto Raptors with +1000, the Phoenix Suns with +1200, and the Washington Wizards with +1400.

The Indiana Pacers are the favorites to be Domantas Sabonis’ next team, per @BovadaOfficial

Toronto Raptors +1000
Phoenix Suns +1200
Washington Wizards +1400 pic.twitter.com/r5N6s5K3LM

— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) April 17, 2025

Sabonis fans will remember that he spent four years with the Pacers at the beginning of his career.

During that time, he averaged 16.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.

In 2021-22, Sabonis moved from the Pacers to the Kings, and he has been there ever since, but it might be time for a change of scenery.

This season, Sabonis contributed 19.1 points and 13.9 rebounds, averaging a double-double for the third season in a row.

He was a crucial part of the Kings’ lineup, but the team fell dreadfully short of their goals, and now they are questioning everything.

He is contracted with the Kings through the 2027-28 season, so any team that trades for him would be taking on a hefty contract.

But Sabonis is such an attractive big man that Sacramento would likely be able to negotiate with a lot of options.

Will he head to a new team like the Hornets or Trail Blazers, or go back to Indiana?

These are just some of the many questions people are asking about Sabonis and the Kings right now.

Analyst Believes ‘Changes’ Are Coming For 1 NBA Team This Offseason

This offseason will be consequential for many teams, but the Sacramento Kings might do more than most.

Following their loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, there are a lot of questions about what is next for the franchise.

They already let go of their GM, but that may be just the tip of the iceberg.

Writing on X, Trevor Lane said that “more changes” might be on the horizon and warned fans that they should be prepared for a tough transitional period.

“Have to imagine more changes are coming for the Kings this offseason. Nothing should be off the table, including a Sabonis trade. Not what they want to hear given their history but a rebuild is probably the best option,” Lane wrote.
Have to imagine more changes are coming for the Kings this offseason. Nothing should be off the table, including a Sabonis trade. Not what they want to hear given their history but a rebuild is probably the best option

— Trevor Lane (@Trevor_Lane) April 17, 2025

Lane is saying that a monumental shift could be coming for the Kings, and that may be their only option if they want to get back on track.

He said that trading Domantas Sabonis should be on the table, a suggestion that would have seemed preposterous just months ago.

When the season began, people had high hopes for the Kings.

They thought they would look more like the “Light the Beam” squad that did so well a couple of seasons ago.

Instead, they continually faced problems, lost their head coach, traded away one of their most important players, and couldn’t seem to stay on the right path.

Their season ended with a whimper on Wednesday and it feels like major adjustments are unavoidable.

If the front office pursues a rebuild, it might be a few years before the Kings are back in the playoffs.

Of course, they could acquire A-list, win-now talent and look a lot better in 2025-26.

Right now, nothing is certain about this team and what the future holds.

DeMar DeRozan Had 2 Impressive Feats In His First Year With Kings

DeMar DeRozan just concluded his first season with the Sacramento Kings.

It may not have ended how he wanted, but he was still productive throughout it.

He averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 47.7 percent from the field.

According to StatMuse, he led the Kings in points and led the entire league in mid-range buckets.

— StatMuse (@statmuse) April 17, 2025

It was a good season for DeRozan, but troubled for the Kings.

Their season ended on Wednesday at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks and now they have a very long summer to figure out what comes next.

Many people believe that DeRozan will stick around in Sacramento into the next season and beyond.

However, there is a chance that the front office makes some massive moves and completely blows up and rebuilds the entire franchise.

They were so close to becoming a permanent part of the NBA playoffs, and then things started to get tough last season.

The problems from last year only grew in 2024-25, and now the Kings missed the playoffs entirely again.

DeRozan was brought to the team because of his experience and skills.

He showed off both this season, but that doesn’t mean he will remain in Sacramento.

In fact, those two features could make him very attractive to other teams and the Kings might capitalize and trade him for a high value.

DeRozan tried his hardest in 2024-25 and showed that he is still a smart decision-maker and leader.

But the problems in Sacramento are large and looming, and it may be time to shake things up, which means he could be packing his bags this summer.

Kings Parted Ways With General Manager After Loss To Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks v Sacramento Kings - Play-In Tournament

It’s going to be a very long summer for the Sacramento Kings.

Their season came to an end on Wednesday night as the Dallas Mavericks easily beat them in the Play-In Tournament.

The Kings have a lot of work to do now, and they got right to it after the game.

According to Shams Charania, the Kings and general manager Monte McNair are “mutually parting ways.”

McNair was with the Kings for five seasons and not all of them were bad, but the road has come to an end for him.

The Sacramento Kings and general manager Monte McNair are mutually parting ways, sources tell ESPN. — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 17, 2025

This was a big move, even if it wasn’t an unexpected one.

It may also be a sign that this summer will be very busy for the Kings, and there could be a ton of changes.

McNair likely won’t be the only one leaving Sacramento, although some reports have said that head coach Doug Christie’s job is safe.

But there may be some big-name stars who leave the team because the Kings are not satisfied with where they are.

Just a few years ago, they were the talk of the NBA, and it looked like a bright new chapter for the team was beginning.

Things got rocky last year and then even worse this season, and they will end 2024-25 as the 10th seed in the West, once again out of the playoffs.

They were outside of the playoffs for far too long, and they don’t want another drought to begin now.

Therefore, the team will get to work finding a new general manager who will bring in new talent and get the team on the right path again.

Paul Pierce Proposes Blockbuster Nuggets, Kings Trade

Denver Nuggets v Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings sit at a crossroads, and most people agree they won’t look the same when next season begins.

There are many questions about who they will do business with in the offseason because multiple teams could provide them with the sort of talent they need.

According to Paul Pierce, the Kings should call upon the Denver Nuggets and trade for one of their biggest stars.

He suggested that the Kings trade DeMar DeRozan for Michael Porter Jr.

“I feel like if they had a DeMar DeRozan with that team right now, with Joker, he don’t need to be the best player or the second-best player every night. He is going to give you more than what Michael Porter Jr. gave you,” Pierce said, via NBACentral.

— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) May 27, 2025

Pierce suggested that DeRozan would do more than Porter, which seems to say that this trade would be better for the Nuggets.

However, the Kings could get a lot out of Porter.

He is known as one of the most talented sharpshooters in the league.

He averaged 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 50.4 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from the three-point line in 2024-25.

Porter would bring youth and skill from all over the court to the Kings, but would he be worth it?

There have been numerous rumors about Sacramento moving on from DeRozan, but what sort of value do they see in him?

Do they believe he is worth more than just Porter, and would they attempt to do business with multiple teams?

Both of these teams could be very active in the upcoming months because they have big roster voids to fill.

This is just one of many potential trades they could pursue before 2025-26 begins.

Kings Predicted To Make Big Move With DeMar DeRozan

Sacramento Kings v Phoenix Suns

The Sacramento Kings have slipped back out of playoff contention after a brief, beautiful season a couple of years ago.

They are looking to change that as quickly as possible this summer, so they are weighing their options.

According to a new report, the Kings aren’t interested in moving many of their players, but they will consider parting ways with DeMar DeRozan.

“The Kings are expected to gauge the market for [DeMar] DeRozan this summer, sources said…For years, the Miami Heat have been labeled as a prime destination for DeRozan, and he will once again be viewed as a plausible target for Pat Riley’s team,” said NBA insider Brett Siegel, via NBACentral.

— NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) June 3, 2025

Not only are the Kings thinking about cutting ties with DeRozan, but they apparently already have a trade partner in mind with the Miami Heat.

The report also stated that the Boston Celtics could take a look at DeRozan because he could partly replace Jayson Tatum’s shooting output while he recovers from injury next season.

The bottom line is that if the Kings want to move DeRozan, they can make that happen.

But who will they get in return for him, and what other players might they trade?

There have been some rumors about Domantas Sabonis leaving Sacramento as well, but this report says that won’t be the case.

That means DeRozan might be the only trade chip the Kings have this summer, so they need to make the most of that.

The Kings’ fanbase is split, with some people wanting a complete rebuild while others want the moves to be minor and strategic.

No matter what happens, the front office is sure to upset someone this summer.

1 Eastern Conference Team Is Showing Interest In DeMar DeRozan

Dallas Mavericks v Sacramento Kings - Play-In Tournament

The Sacramento Kings have only had DeMar DeRozan for one season, but they are open to the idea of letting him go this summer.

However, they will only do it for the right price.

According to James Ham, via NBACentral, the Miami Heat are expected to show interest in DeRozan.

That sounds good for the Kings, who have been telling people that there is a “high possibility” that they could pick a draft pick early in the 20s.

As luck would have it, the Heat own the 20th pick.

So, would the 20th pick be part of a DeRozan trade?

Is there a chance that it could be the entirety of what the Heat sends to Sacramento?

Surely, the Kings will attempt to get more out of Miami, but who?

Will they try to land someone like Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., or Kel’el Ware?

Or perhaps the Kings will be more interested in a salary dump?

The Heat usually don’t make a lot of moves during the summer, so the fact that they are showing interest in DeRozan proves how much they want to make changes this time.

As for the Kings, this is more proof that they are also looking to shake it up after a disappointing season and a lack of direction.

Will the Kings try to go younger and start the roster over again?

Will the Heat do more than just get DeRozan?

These are two teams to watch closely in the weeks ahead because they could be looking wildly different when next season kicks off.

The NBA’s offseason chaos launched before the playoffs even concluded.

Kevin Durant’s shocking trade to the Houston Rockets came early Sunday, just hours before Game 7 tipped off.

With Oklahoma City now celebrating their championship, attention shifts to Wednesday’s NBA Draft.

Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry has wasted little time making an impact since taking over.

The organization has shown serious interest in acquiring a point guard while exploring various first-round trade scenarios. They’re reportedly shopping two players to sweeten potential deals.

“The Kings have expressed a desire to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, league sources told HoopsHype. Amid those conversations, Sacramento has gauged the trade market on guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter, sources said,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported.

The situation becomes more intriguing when considering recent organizational changes.

During the season, Sacramento reportedly refused to include Carter in potential discussions for Brooklyn’s Cam Johnson under former general manager Monte McNair.

Perry’s arrival brings a different perspective to player evaluation and roster construction.

New leadership often means fresh assessments of existing talent. Perry inherited a roster he didn’t build, creating an opportunity to reassess player values and team needs.

The willingness to explore trades involving both Monk and Carter suggests Sacramento is serious about reshaping their backcourt.

The Kings face a challenging position heading into draft night. Their first-round pick was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in 2022 as part of the Kevin Huerter deal, leaving them without a natural entry point into the first round.

This reality makes Perry’s pursuit of draft capital even more critical.

Sacramento’s draft strategy will likely hinge on their ability to package current assets for future picks.

The Sacramento Kings haven’t made their offseason plans entirely clear.

According to rumors, they want a new point guard, and they also wish to fight for a first-round draft pick.

Beyond that, no one knows anything concrete.

Now, Jason Anderson is reporting, via NBACentral, that the Kings are “expected to explore trades for DeMar DeRozan and may also test the market for Domantas Sabonis.”

This last season wasn’t a great one for the Kings, and fans are calling on the front office to do something, but what?

Some say now is the time for a complete rebuild, shipping out all the assets they have in order to rebuild slowly but surely.

Others feel the Kings should swap out some of their stars for win-now talent who can return them to the playoffs as soon as possible.

They could get a decent deal for DeRozan and even more for Sabonis, but it all depends on who they do business with.

These are the two most important players in Sacramento, so the Kings won’t give them away unless they get a good return for them.

Will they target point guards or big men when they search the trade market with these two stars?

Kings fans may soon have more insight into Sacramento’s plans.

The way they handle DeRozan and Sabonis will show people the path they are planning to take.

Will it be a rebuild, or will they try to bolster the roster they have now?

Sacramento has a few options, and they could be measured or drastic as the draft approaches.

Dennis Schroder Is Being Linked To Western Conference Team In Free Agency

Detroit Pistons v New York Knicks - Game One

The Sacramento Kings have been on the hunt for a new point guard to help their backcourt, and they may have found the right person for the job.

According to Marc Stein, the Kings are “already being painted” as a landing spot for Dennis Schroder when free agency begins.

Will Schroder solve their problems, and how long will he remain in Sacramento?

The Kings are already being painted as a likely leading suitor for Dennis Schröder when free agency begins, @TheSteinLine has learned.

— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 25, 2025

Schroder has been all over the league recently.

Since 2023-24, he has played for the Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons.

During his time with the Pistons, he averaged 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

He has had a hard time staying in one place, and there are concerns that the Kings would be just his latest stop, and he wouldn’t stick around for long.

When he’s healthy and playing well, Schroder is a reliable and consistent guard.

But there are times when it feels like he doesn’t fit in with the rest of his team or isn’t playing his best version of basketball.

Perhaps that is because he has been moving around so often, and maybe Schroder just needs a long-term home in the league.

Is that the Kings?

Will this be the only move the Kings make during the offseason?

There has been talk of them trading multiple stars, such as DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk.

So this could be just one of many adjustments they make in the days and weeks ahead.

NBA Teams Are ‘Expected To Pivot’ To 2 Kings Players This Offseason

Kevin Durant has officially made his move from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets, and that could impact the Sacramento Kings.

Now that Durant has moved, other teams will turn to the Kings.

According to Legion Hoops, teams that pursued Durant and didn’t land him are expected to “pivot” to Malik Monk or DeMar DeRozan.

— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) June 22, 2025

The teams that were reportedly vying for Durant were the Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, and possibly a few others.

Does that mean they will all be picking up the phone to call Sacramento about Monk and DeRozan?

DeRozan is a name to watch because he has been talked about as a trade target for several teams, including the Heat.

Meanwhile, the Kings are in an interesting position, attempting to determine what’s next for them and the route they take.

Do they want to make only small adjustments in the summer, or will they do something bigger and more drastic?

If teams do want these two, what will Sacramento demand in order to move them?

Monk averaged 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists on 43.9 percent from the field in 2024-25.

Meanwhile, DeRozan put up 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.

These are two players who could fetch a lot for the Kings, but only if the team handles a trade correctly.

Now that Durant has been moved, Kings fans are paying close attention to the front office of their team to see what happens next.

How soon until we hear something big coming out of Sacramento?

Kings Exploring Possibilities To Create Opening For Veteran Guard

Houston Rockets v Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings are very serious about adding backcourt strength to the roster.

In fact, that is basically all they have been focused on this summer, and they may not be done yet.

According to Marc Stein, per Fullcourtpass, the Kings have “explored the possibility of creating a backcourt opening for Russell Westbrook.”

But they are looking to make the space for Westbrook without giving up Malik Monk.

Can they make a deal happen before training camp?

— Fullcourtpass (@Fullcourtpass) August 25, 2025

Westbrook has been on the Kings’ radar for a few months now, but a deal hasn’t materialized.

The Kings aren’t in a rush to sign him because they know he is a free agent without many options.

In some ways, Westbrook needs the Kings more than they need him, especially with recent news that said he may not have a spot in the league if he turns down Sacramento.

Perhaps that is why they are attempting to make a deal that doesn’t require moving Monk.

They’re big fans of what he has done since coming to the team in the 2022-23 season.

He has averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists since joining the Kings and was in the running for Sixth Man of the Year two seasons in a row.

He is a great guard, but the Kings might suffer from too many options when it comes to their backcourt if Westbrook comes on board.

Between minutes and salaries, will they be able to hold onto Monk and still add Westbrook?

They are obviously weighing all of their options and not racing to make anything happen.

But training camp is rapidly approaching, and the new season begins shortly after that.

Fans should expect to hear something about this situation in Sacramento soon.

Analyst Makes A Big Prediction About Russell Westbrook

Los Angeles Clippers v Denver Nuggets - Game Five

The NBA offseason is coming to an end, and Russell Westbrook is still without a team.

When the summer started, most people thought he’d either sign a new contract with the Denver Nuggets or quickly find another squad to call home.

But Westbrook remains out of luck, and Eric Pincus wrote about his situation for Bleacher Report.

Pincus thinks that Westbrook will eventually settle down with the Sacramento Kings, but he won’t be making a ton of money.

“Prediction: Westbrook signs a two-year minimum deal with a player option in Sacramento,” Pincus wrote. “The Nuggets changed direction after one season with Russell Westbrook (actually shifting before the end of the year, firing head coach Mike Malone and basketball executive Calvin Booth). The team has since acquired Cam Johnson, Jonas Valančiūnas, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bruce Brown. Denver still has room to sign Westbrook, but it doesn’t appear inclined to do so. The Sacramento Kings stand out as his obvious next home, as they need a point guard to back up Dennis Schröder.”

Westbrook has had a difficult time staying in one place for very long over the last few years.

He has moved around from the Washington Wizards to the Los Angeles Lakers to the Los Angeles Clippers and then to the Nuggets.

He has helped each of those teams in one way or another, but hasn’t become a stable part of any rotation.

He has come on and off the bench, taken on different responsibilities, and tried to expand his horizons and attempt new things for the betterment of his teams.

But he has always seemed restless and ready to move to another destination.

It sounds like the Kings are his only choice right now.

If he doesn’t sign a deal with them, he might be out of the NBA, at least for a few months.

Some fans never imagined a day when he’d be a backup guard, but times have changed, and now Westbrook will have to adjust his expectations once again.

He holds all the power and could reject a deal from the Kings, but with the Nuggets moving on, that could place a huge roadblock in front of him.

Former Kings Player Is Signing Contract To Play Overseas

Trey Lyles has spent 10 years in the NBA, but now he is moving on and taking his skills overseas.

Lyles is headed to Spain to play with Real Madrid after turning down minimum contract offers from multiple teams throughout the NBA.

BREAKING: 10-year NBA veteran Trey Lyles is heading overseas to sign a lucrative deal with Real Madrid in Spain.

This might be the right move for Lyles, because Real Madrid is viewed as one of the best teams in the EuroLeague and one of the greatest in the world outside the NBA.

Reports state that he will agree to a one-year, $3.2 million deal.

A lot of people are shocked to hear that Lyles is leaving the association because he was allegedly targeted by a few teams.

During his decade in the NBA, Lyles averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

He last played for the Sacramento Kings, where he produced 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 2024-25.

Just because Lyles is bringing his talents to a foreign league doesn’t mean he won’t come back to the NBA at some point.

Like many players in the EuroLeague, Lyles has a clause in his new contract that allows him to leave and return to the US if an NBA team signs him.

Recent reports have said that the Kings and Miami Heat have expressed interest in Lyles, so he may be back in 2025-26 or beyond.

Perhaps he will earn even more than a veteran’s minimum later in the year, when teams are desperate to improve right before the trade deadline.

But for now, Lyles will be spending time with Real Madrid and could put up impressive numbers with them.

Analyst Raises Concern About Rumored Warriors, Kings Trade

Sacramento Kings v Golden State Warriors

(Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)

The Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors have been dancing around each other all summer, toying with the idea of sending Jonathan Kuminga to the Warriors.

However, a deal hasn’t come together, and there have been questions about why.

Writing on X, Sam Vecenie talked about the specifics of a potential trade for Kuminga and why it’s a very tricky situation.

“The Malik Monk and a 1st for Jonathan Kuminga thing is one of those deals that makes sense value-wise in a vacuum but then you start to take the next steps and it gets complicated. What are the pick protections? Can you move Hield without giving up an asset?” Vecenie posted on X.

On the surface, sending Kuminga over to Sacramento seems rather simple, but it gets complicated when you consider that the Kings could demand a hefty draft pick with limited protections.

In fact, committing to this would raise a lot of questions for the Warriors and could force them to make other moves too, including some they aren’t ready for.

For a few reasons, it may make more sense for the Warriors to just sit on Kuminga and wait for the trade deadline in a few months.

Maybe better options will be waiting for them then, and they won’t have to rush into anything they aren’t completely comfortable with.

The latest reports said that Kuminga would probably sign a deal with the Warriors, but it’s no secret that he could still be leaving the team soon.

Putting a trade together requires a lot of moving pieces and consideration, and no one knows that better than the Warriors.

Kings Unveil New Threads For 2025 Season

Dallas Mavericks v Sacramento Kings - Play-In Tournament

The Sacramento Kings are hoping for a new season that is much better than the last.

They don’t know if that will happen, but they do know they will look good during the 2025-26 season.

The Kings have released a first look at their new City Edition jerseys, which are stark, vibrant, and easy on the eyes.

The future may be murky in Sacramento, but at least their outfits are great.

Last season was nothing but a disappointment for the Kings.

Just a few years ago, they were riding high during their “Light the Beam” era, but things have changed in a big way.

Last season, they failed to even reach the playoffs, fired their head coach, and now a lot of questions are floating around.

There have been rumors of the team attempting to sign someone like Russell Westbrook or Jonathan Kuminga, and they spent good money this summer on Dennis Schroder’s new contract.

That doesn’t seem like it’ll be enough to get this team back in contention, but perhaps they are playing the long game and things will change at the mid-way point of this year.

They will have options on the trade market, and they could bolster their roster and maybe become a force in the Western Conference again.

These City Edition jerseys look great in photos, and they will likely look amazing on players, too.

Fans are hoping for more than fantastic jerseys, and they may get it, but at least this is a start.

Details Emerge About How Kings View Jonathan Kuminga

Sacramento Kings v Golden State Warriors

Jonathan Kuminga’s future in the NBA is completely up in the air, just days after it sounded like things could be moving forward with the Golden State Warriors.

A new report states that Kuminga is interested in playing for the Sacramento Kings, partly because of how they view him.

“Kuminga doesn’t have a good relationship with Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, sources said. The Kings told Kuminga they view him as an All-Star forward who will receive a high usage rate under head coach Doug Christie, sources said. That was music to Kuminga’s ears,” via Dallas Hoops Journal.

It’s no secret that Kuminga wants more with whatever team he plays for.

Like the Kings, he also views himself as a future All-Star and wishes to be treated as one, earning more minutes and responsibilities on the court.

The Warriors just offered Kuminga a three-year, $75.2 million deal with a team option in the third season, which is generous but might not be good enough.

Kuminga wants that team option to turn into a player one, and he wants to be able to show what he can do on the court throughout the season.

Hearing how the Kings feel surely complicates things even more for Kuminga, and he may be enticed to do everything in his power to move to Sacramento.

With them, he could be given basically everything he wants.

If Kuminga isn’t able to head to the Kings, he will ride it out with the Warriors, with hopes of potentially being traded in a few months.

Kuminga wants the Kings, and they like him, but there is no guarantee that everything will come together.

Kings Take Firm Stance On Trade Talks With Warriors

The new NBA season is drawing closer, and Golden State Warriors fans still don’t know what’s going on with Jonathan Kuminga.

He could remain with the team, either for the short or long-term, or he could be heading to another destination.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess.

Evan Sidery is reporting that the Sacramento Kings’ sign-and-trade offer to the Warriors for Kuminga “remains on the table.”

“The Kings’ sign-and-trade offer to the Warriors for Jonathan Kuminga remains on the table during their continued standoff. Since the offseason began, Sacramento has been very open to the idea of moving Malik Monk and a future first-round pick to Golden State for Kuminga,” Sidery posted on X.

With the clock ticking down, the Warriors will need to consider this quickly and make a decision.

They obviously don’t care about having a future with Kuminga, but they don’t want to sign and trade him for nothing.

This offering from the Kings might be the best that they get, at least for now.

Monk is coveted by multiple teams, and he could fit in perfectly with the Warriors.

The first-round pick would also sweeten the pot for Golden State.

The Warriors could say yes to this and start putting the paperwork together, or they could decide to keep Kuminga for themselves until the mid-season trade deadline.

At that time, more teams might be eager to put something on the table.

However, they might not ever see anything more enticing than Monk and a first-round draft pick.

Kuminga could be moving soon or could stay exactly where he is.

This situation remains incredibly murky and stuck in limbo.
