Jordan averaged like 6apg from 89 to 95... What exactly do you want from him?

Personally, I picture the best player in the NBA threatening to get a triple-double every night, if the player isn't like Wilt Chamberlain, scoring every time the ball is taken down the court. Also, according to Wikipedia (I know, great source), LeBron James averages 6.9 assists per game in his career. He may have a few less points, but LeBron James is an all-around player.

I'm not sure if you realize this, but the 60s and 70s were considerably weak and entirely different games than today's or even 80s-90s basketball. It's where silled bigs and flourish and put video game stats up because there was no competition for them. Hell, Wilts only competition then WAS Bill Russel. Most of the other notable players were played at the PG-SG-SF position: Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Elgon Baylor, etc.
It's hard to say if they could produce in the 80s-90s or even the 2000s, including Wilt and Russel but it's fair to say their stats were inflated due to the era they played in. I'm not discrediting them at all by the way. They were great players, rightfully so, but it's hard to imagine someone dominating a league to that degree with MJ, Magic, the bad boy Pistons, the Birds Celtics in it.
