Joe Paterno to retire

my problem about his firing is what about the moron who is STILL an assistant that SAW it. I don't care that he was fired, it was damage control. If your going to fire one fire all.

My question with this whole scandal is why if the guy wasn't with the team did he have keys to all of the facilities still?

Um. He didn't report the molesting of boys? Yea. I'ma stick with "terrible person".

Also, he was fired today instead of being allowed to retire. Serves him right.

He wasn't doing nothing in the press box. :P

He was still coaching his team, it doesn't matter where he was doing it from. He was the "coach", but he still did not act enough like one. A real coach should run on to the field with his team, not watch from the press box. Tom Bradley was coaching more than he was.

Well he's 84....you can't really expect him to run around like he used to.

He was still calling most of the plays though, I'm pretty sure.

You're making it sound like coaching is about show and being some hot-head on the sideline. Coaching is about being smart and calling good plays, not your athletic abilities.

How is he a terrible person? He did all that he HAD to do according to protocol. Sure, should have told the police, but you can't call him a terrible person because he made one mistake. And Moss, Joe Paterno was just as good of a coach this year as he was 10 years ago. :P

I agree that he should have done more, but honestly, nobody really knows how much information was presented to him. As far as we know right now, on only one instance was he informed about it.

I agree with him being fired, but I hate all these people bashing him.

They've wanted him gone for sometime so this was just an excuse to get him out of there. Apparently the guy who is charged with CSC was on the grounds of PSU as recently as last week. Not saying that falls solely on Joe, but I'm he had some input as to who had access to the football facilities.

The guy who saw it has now been told he will not be coaching. I just heard that on the radio.

Also this thing is far from over. There are some really dirty rumors out there. One of them is that the scum bag's organization was "pimping" the boys out to their biggest doners. That was reported this morning by some guy out of Phillie. He said that he can't confirm it but that there are two major writers investigating it right now and should know by the weekend.

Joe had to go. He's not an evil person but he made a terrible mistake and can't stay as the coach. Pen state is going to have to spend a lot of time rebuilding their image after this.

if he had to go so does the douche bag who SAW it, ya know the moron who isn't coaching Saturday due to the many threats he's received.

Penn St. has announced that New England Patriots offensive coordinator, Bill O'Brien, will succeed Paterno as the head coach of the Nittany Lions.
