TNF: Jets vs Patriots discussion

Thursday Night Football, Week 11. Tonight the New England Patriots host the New York Jets. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 pm EST.

The 8-2 New England Patriots come into this game as hot as any team in the NFL, riding a seven game winning streak. They sit in first place in the AFC East. The Patriots have benefitted from a weak schedule, but they have also beaten some good teams. They beat the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo in early October, and last week the Patriots took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa. The Patriots are a tough matchup for the Jets. They boast the NFL’s top run defense in terms of rushing yards allowed. That does not bode well for the Jets offense, which depends heavily on the run game. If Justin Fields can’t get the passing game going without Garrett Wilson, this could be a very long night for the Jets.

The 2-7 New York Jets sit in last place in the AFC East. They have shown some life of late, winning their last two games after starting the season 0-7. Those two wins came against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns, two of the lesser teams in the NFL. Tonight represents a much more difficult challenge for the Jets, on the road against a team with the best record in the NFL. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has been playing at an MVP level, and he will give the depleted Jets defense all they can handle. It will probably be too much to ask for the last place Jets to beat the first place Patriots on the road. Hopefully the Jets can at least show some progress and keep the game competitive. If they can keep it close, who knows, it’s always possible to get a break or two down the stretch and steal a win.

It’s the Jets and the Patriots in an AFC East grudge match tonight on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
