GM #48: Winnipeg Jets @ Chicago Blackhawks

The Winnipeg Jets let a 5 game winning streak slip through their hands on Saturday when they let the Toronto Maple Leafs storm back from a 2 goal deficit to snag an overtime victory. That has unfortunately become a common theme for the True North franchise in the NHL’s 2025-26 campaign, leading to our hockey team sitting in the 2nd last place in the league. As a result of that…

GM #49: St. Louis Blues @ Winnipeg Jets

Well, after the Winnipeg Jets dropped a 2-0 contest to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night, they have remained with the 2nd best odds for the upcoming 1st overall selection in June (a 13.5% shot at 1st overall, a 14.4% chance at the 2nd pick, odds of 30.7% for the 3rd selection, and 41.7% of the time will end up in 4th). Once again I simulated the lottery via Tankathon and here is who got the…

GM #50: Florida Panthers @ Winnipeg Jets

On a very chilly Thursday in Manitoba, the defending President’s Trophy winners will be hosting the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Yet the NHL’s 2025-26 campaign has looked much different for the two franchises. The Winnipeg Jets almost led the NHL from start to finish last year, while the Florida Panthers hung around the middle of the league before surging up to the 11th best record by the…

GM #51: Detroit Red Wings @ Winnipeg Jets

With the 1 point the Winnipeg Jets picked up against Florida, the team had moved 6 points back from the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Yet the NHL’s action on Friday night saw quite a few of the other franchises in the race pick up victories, so they will enter today’s contest versus the Detroit Red Wings a full 4 games back (8 pts) of playoff contention.

GM #52: Winnipeg Jets @ New Jersey Devils

The Winnipeg Jets had strung together about 19 competitive hockey games in a row…even if they only won 6 of those. Yet that streak ended in the True Northers’ last contest when an embarrassing 3rd period saw the Detroit Red Wings rout our team 5 to 1. As a result, the Jets are still well back from a wildcard spot and with the Calgary Flames picking up a point on Sunday, the Manitobans are now…

GM #53: Winnipeg Jets @ Tampa Bay Lightning

The Winnipeg Jets began their road trip with a win in New Jersey, but the competition will get more difficult in the second stop when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning. The True North victory didn’t result in our club gaining any ground in the wildcard race, as the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, & Seattle Kraken all won on Tuesday too. Therefore the Jets were in the 4th worst slot in the NHL…

GM #54: Winnipeg Jets @ Florida Panthers

The Winnipeg Jets have 29 games left to play in the regular season….so this nightmare of a season is far from over at this point. Fortunately us fans will get a little break from having to watch our hockey team struggle, as the Olympics will shut down the NHL for three weeks. Just matches versus the Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, & Montreal Canadiens to go before then. Once the league gets…

GM #54: Winnipeg Jets @ Dallas Stars

The Winnipeg Jets have gone 2-1-0 on their road trip so far and will be looking to finish the trek on a positive note against their division rivals, the Dallas Stars. Both Central Division franchises are fighting for positioning in the NHL’s standings, but find themselves in quite different situations. The Texans are having another good season, but the dominance of the Colorado Avalanche and the…

GM #55: Montreal Canadiens @ Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have returned home from a 4 game road trip that saw the franchise continue to pick up points on a regular basis, as they went 2-1-1 to grab 5 of the available 8 points. Yet, despite going 7-3-3 since January 9th (getting 17 of the available 26 pts), the True Northers have only managed to close the gap on the Western Conference’s last wildcard spot by 2 points (were down 11 pts…

2026 Olympics: Men’s Hockey Tournament

About a week after the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics officially kicked off, the competition that I am most interested in is about to get underway today. Can’t say that I’ve watched a whole lot so far, but that should change now that the Men’s Ice Hockey tournament is about to start on Wednesday. Have to say that I’ve taken full advantage of the time without NHL hockey to take a step back and get…

GM #57: Winnipeg Jets @ Vancouver Canucks

After a 3 week hiatus due to the 2026 Winter Olympics, the National Hockey League will resume its regular season today with a slate of 8 contests that includes the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Vancouver Canucks. That means that I am back writing about our hockey team again….did you miss me?? I had planned on doing some other articles during the break….but found that I enjoyed taking a step back too…

GM #58: Winnipeg Jets @ Anaheim Ducks

The Winnipeg Jets started the final stretch of the NHL’s 2025-26 campaign with a victory and they will need to pile up a lot more of those if they hope to qualify for the playoffs. The win over Vancouver did allow our team to close the gap to the final wildcard spot from 11 pts to 9 pts, so the True Northers took a good first step if they want to book a spot in the post-season.

GM #59: Winnipeg Jets @ San Jose Sharks

The Winnipeg Jets began the post-Olympic break off by stumbling out of the starting blocks, as they let a 2 goal lead disappear in the 3rd period versus Anaheim. After rookie defenseman Elias Salomonsson scored his first NHL goal to put the True Northers up 3-1 early in the final frame, the hometown Ducks dominated play to eventually tie things up with 1:22 remaining. The Jets almost escaped…

GM #60: Chicago Blackhawks @ Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have been chasing the Anaheim Ducks & Seattle Kraken for the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot for quite a while now. Catching one of those franchises was the True Northers’ only hope to qualify for the playoffs, even though there was quite the gap they needed to overcome. But that has recently changed over the past couple weeks of NHL action, as the Ducks have gone…

GM #61: Tampa Bay Lightning @ Winnipeg Jets

Due to another hectic day at work today, this preview will be briefer than normal….as well as being posted much later. The Winnipeg Jets have gone to overtime in 5 of their last 6 contests, pulling out a 3-2 win on Tuesday over the Chicago Blackhawks to pull within 9 points of the Seattle Kraken & the Western Conference’s final wildcard spot. The Kraken had a chance to extend that last night…

Introducing Isak Rosen to Winnipeg Jets’ Fans

Shortly after the Winnipeg Jets downed the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night, General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made his first trade deadline move as he confirmed that the True North franchise would be in the Seller category this season. After news broke in the afternoon that defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn would be held out of the line up due to “roster management” reasons….

GM #62: Vancouver Canucks @ Winnipeg Jets

The National Hockey League’s trade deadline for the 2025-26 campaign has come and gone, seeing our Winnipeg Jets become sellers for the first time in a while. General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff ended up shipping out a few veterans in Logan Stanley, Luke Schenn, & Tanner Pearson for packages that included a couple of player and picks. Both skaters acquired from the Buffalo Sabres are going to…

GM #63: Anaheim Ducks @ Winnipeg Jets

Everyone needs a break every now and then, right? Well, the Winnipeg Jets certainly seemed to have put the 3 week Olympic break to good use, as the franchise has yet to play a game since then where the True Northers didn’t walk away with points. The Manitobans have a 4-0-2 record since goalie Connor Hellebuyck won a gold medal in Italy and that has launched a new belief that they could comeback to…

GM #64: New York Rangers @ Winnipeg Jets

Since both the Winnipeg Jets & Seattle Kraken lost on Tuesday night, our team remains 5 points back of the NHL’s Western Conference’s final wildcard spot…though the Los Angeles Kings have now joined the Kraken at 67 points, while the San Jose Sharks & Nashville Predators are just a single point back of that. So while the True Northers have closed the gap to a potential playoff berth…..
