Jeremy Lin will have left knee surgery next week and will miss six weeks, likely ending his amazing breakthrough season.

The New York Knicks said Saturday their point guard had an MRI exam this week that revealed a small, chronic meniscus tear.

With the regular season ending April 26, the biggest story in basketball this season is probably done regardless of whether the Knicks make the playoffs.

He was barely holding on to a place in the NBA back in February. Now, after the back-to-back Sports Illustrated covers and popularity around the world, he has to go back to the bench when he wants to play most.

Looks like Linsanity will probably be over for the rest of the season. It's amazing how things can change so quickly. There was Linsanity, then there wasn't any Jeremy Lin magic, and oh look, now Jeremy Lin will probably be out for the season whether they make the playoffs or not.

Carmelo Anthony is the reason Linsanity ended, but honestly, Lin was still putting up fairly good numbers. This still isn't a huge loss in my opinion though, not near as big as the loss of Stoudemire will be.

Baron Davis will replace Lin, and he'll probably put up similar numbers for the Knicks.

Yeah, Jeremy Lin lost a lot of hype in March than from February when Mike Woodson took over.
