PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames.

The Flames announced the deal after their victory over Colorado on Wednesday night, sending their longtime captain to the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins in exchange for college prospects Kenneth Agostino and Ben Hanowski and a first-round pick this year.

TSN reported earlier Wednesday night that Calgary and Boston had agreed to a deal for Iginla.

The deal was Penguins' third big move in four days. They picked up forward Brenden Morrow in a deal with Dallas on Sunday, and acquired defenseman Doug Murray from San Jose on Monday.

The 35-year-old Iginla is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He was scratched from Calgary's lineup against Colorado, ending his consecutive games streak at 441.

The Penguins have made a few big moves lately. I like that the team is improving. :D

What are your thoughts on this? :)

looking good for a possible cup, too bad Morrow will be leaving in the summer when he hits the market.

As a Penguins fan, I am wondering what they could possibly do with all of these guys. Now how about we trade Brandon Sutter for Jordan Staal? :P Honestly, I am glad the Pens are making these moves to win the cup and now they are definite favorites.

The Penguins are actually turning out to be a pretty good team! Maybe some success their way this year? They've made some good moves, and I'm honestly surprised that the other teams are going with it. Are they setting themselves up to be beaten by the Penguins? We shall see.

it only takes one mistake in the playoffs to send a team home. i think they are good, but i can see them choking as well as the Blackhawks. I think it will be another surprise winner like the Kings were last year.

As a Flames fan, I am very sad to see Iggy leave. A true captain, one of the best all time, a fantastic leader, and an even better guy off the ice. I wish the best of luck to him in Pittsburgh.

The return for him is less than stellar. Neither player is signed to a contract, it is very possible that both players could choose not to sign, and we could see a Justin Schultz situation arise. I would have like to see an extra conditional first round pick contingent on that both Agostino and Hanowski sign with the Flames.

The most disappointing thing about this deal is that I now have to hope the Penguins do well in the playoffs. I think Iginla has a great chance to win a cup here, and he deserves that. With the recent trades the Penguins made, I think they are more than ready to take this all the way. I don't think I've seen a team this stacked since the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks

As both a Flames fan and a Penguins fan I'm both heartbroken and overjoyed by this trade. Iggy was definitely one of the best captains on the ice especially for the Flames. I'm eager to see how he does through the playoffs with the Penguins and working alongside such other greats in the game.

Yeah, it will be nice seeing him playing with good players. There doesn't seem to be a lot of talent on the Flames. I think it would be awesome if Iginla won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins this season.
