Is Nintendo Dead?

I have been thinking about this for a while. With no new characters, console designs (DS line up is too large), or game-play styles, I think Nintendo has finally hit rock bottom. I criticized Super Mario Galaxy 2 for being more retro style. We have gone in to a gaming generation, where everything should be 3D, but Nintendo has still been coming up with 2D platformers. Sure, they can release one every once in a while, but with that release, they should have a 3D title, too. Donkey Kong and Kirby have always been 2D. Shouldn't they be upgraded as well? These are some series that I consider "dying out".

Super Mario: Yes, I said it. Super Mario has had no new game-play style since 2000. With at least 30-50 games in its line up, there has been nothing actually "new" for 10 years. If you consider Super Mario Galaxy new, then why is there a sequel? I think they are out of ideas.

Pikmin: With only 2 games in it's line-up, and the last game was released about 5 years ago, this series should be considered dead.

F- Zero: Not a game for this series for a while, with very few games. I think it was replaced by Mario Kart.

Earthbound: I do not know much about this series, other than it was an RPG and had only about 3 games. Last one was released a while ago.

DS systems: Not really a game, but is an overused, frequently updated console that has you spending more money every 1-2 years, with almost no new design. Cheap, Nintendo. And the only games that are being published for it currently are RPGs. Nothing new.

Star Fox ( Starwing in Europe): Only 4 games in the series, with the last one released about 3 years ago. Rare killed it.

Wii: Yes, their home console. Its graphics and limits are no match for the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and even Nintendo has slowed down on publishing for their own console in the past year.

There were going to be a few more series, but Legend of Zelda is almost unpredictable, and Kid Icarus was saved from making this list with a 3D game coming out later this year or early next year. I did not mention older consoles because we all know they've been dead for a while; that includes the regular Xbox and PS1 ( Why are they still selling the PS2?).

So, what do you think?

Well, yes, nintendo is dying.
They were good till the 64 came out, at which point, everything started to go downhill

Well they are in a way because they're not making 3d video games but at the same time they're not because they made a system where you can actually move with and not just stand there........... They made the Wii which is I guess a system thats supposedly a exercise system!

lol, I do sometimes.

Actually, the wii isnt the only system you move around with to play. There was stuff like that before it, the ps3, or xbox 360 came out. It just required a mat or camera that was sold with the game.

Yes, but it wasn't that advanced, either. Only until Wii Motion Plus came out did stuff actually feel real. But even that couldn't save Nintendo from the black pit of doom.

Well, yes. Thats true. Perhaps if they started coming up with newer ideas, they could come from the brink, but at this rate, theyll be gone in a few years.

I think they'll survive, but they certainly will be the lowest of the top3 game companies.

i don't think nintendo is dying. i think its still a really good company. yes the PS3 and Xbox 360 are nice but the Wii is always my fav. gaming system.

They aren't dead I think that the Wii is amazing and the new 3ds that is coming out looks mind blowing and cant wait for it.
