Overall 9/10

As many of you know, this is my first game for the PS3 (excluding Sports Champions, which came with the bundle), and I was pretty darn impressed. With an outstanding story and some stunning graphics, this game would make my Top 10 list. It could have made my Top 5 if there weren't so many gameplay issues.

Gameplay 7/10
I can tolerate some glitches like a camera going crazy occasionally, but after getting hit by a train and somehow falling through the road, I had to deduct some points. I went through 2 walls additionally, and found that some enimies were shooting from behind the walls, where I could not shoot them. This is not too bad of a deal, but some of these glitches are just annoying and unfair. On the other hand, the transition between aiming and running is smooth, and you can explore many places. But just like any game, you will fall through some poles and other objects mysteriously, which takes away the feel of the game. Unlike most games that I played, the story is not repetitive; it's just the gameplay. I blew this truck up like 20 times. Why do I have to do it again? Run into an intersection, kill guys on rooftops... again! Luckily, as you progress, you have more options on how to kill your opponents. The game has several diffrent powers you can acquire by going through the sewers. The gameplay could have been better, some new scnerios needed to be introduced towards the end of the game, glitches should have been fixed, and there needs to be a few more diffrent enemy types (more bosses please?). Oh yeah, I forgot about the Karma. I think the main story should change a little when you choose to become evil or decide to protect the citizens of Empire City.

Story 10/10

Unlike other games, the story has its own uniqueness, but is also realistic. I think adult gamers can sort of bond to the protagonist as the story unfolds, and the backstory adds more of an explaination to the main story. A few events can be considered to be unpredictable, and you can tell that Cole, the protagonist, seems to change as the story goes along. I have to admit, the ending was both unexpected and filled in all of the gaps within the story. The only thing that I will reveal is that there is a lot more to that explosion than you think there is.

Orginallity 5/10

The developers unitentionally stayed close to Cartoon Network's Static Shock, so I won't dock for this. The grinding move is in other games such as Ratchet and Clank, as well as the more popular Sonic the Hedgehog. Megawatt hammer resembles a rocket launcher, a shock grenade resembles well, a grenade, and the lightning storm move is almost just like a real storm. Some of the creatures looked like they were from Bioshock, or a game like that, and most of the machines in the game are based off a military vehicle or a balloon. However, the lightning storm move allows you to tilt the controller in order to steer it, which is not seen often in PS3 games. The story was also mostly orginal.

Longevity 8/10

Heh, you would think that this would get a lower score, didn't you? While the main story is too easily completed in a matter of days, the curoisty of trying the other side is too great, there are plenty of items to collect, and there are several side quests to complete. In addition to all of this, you can also find Dead Drops, which reveal more of the backstory. Sadly, it's only a single player game, so when you complete everything, it's not likely you will come back to this game for while.
Time Estimation: Average child gamer may complete the entire game within 3 to 6 months, considering he or she is 11 or older.
Average gamer: 1 to 2
Time to complete will depend on skill level, especially on the player's ability to find items hidden in several places across the map, some hard to get to. Also depends on player's ability to strategize and some parts may require "Button Mashing".

Review Complete.

I'd say this is a good review, but I disagree with it at many points.

1) This game is the most repetitive game I've ever played. Go underground, find new power, test new power defending something, fight boss.
2) The powers aren't even all that good.
3) The story was immensely boring.

I would rate this game a 3/10

Sure, the powers weren't all that imaginative, but that doesn't neccesarily mean that they are bad. Oh yeah, I actually did say that the game was repetitive under the Gameplay section.
