Nationals to bring up top prospect Bryce Harper!

Bryce Harper tends to do things ahead of schedule, so it should surprise no one that he's already heading to the major leagues.

The 19-year-old outfielder, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 amateur draft, will be recalled by the Washington Nationals from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Widely regarded as baseball's top prospect, Harper will meet the Nationals in Los Angeles, where they are playing the Dodgers, and take the roster spot of third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who is going on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder.

I've been hearing about this guy constantly for three years, and he has had high expectations in the big leagues ever since he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2009, when he was only sixteen years old, if I remember correctly. He is so young. I wish him the best in the big leagues, if he can produce, he got in the big leagues pretty young, so he can have a long career if he can stick around. I am really looking forward to seeing how he performs in the pros.

I think he's gonna be great. It may take him a while to really get going, but he will certainly be an asset to the Nationals.

My mom could be an asset to the Nationals... :P

Yeah, he wasn't exactly doing superb in AAA either. It would be wise to let him finish the AAA season, but with Ryan Zimmerman injured, they need someone who has a chance of being as good as him. It's also the perfect timing to get some big league at bats with a player on the DL for a little while, but it still seems too soon. I think this could be a mistake.

Harper went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly RBI in his debut tonight. The Nat's lost in extra innings to the Dodgers, 4-3.

Wow...that hasn't happened since... *Googling*.....

April 26, 2009. It was Jacoby Ellsbury.

Pretty impressive feat.
