News Grizz Team Notes

Ranking 3 best Desmond Bane trade destinations if Grizzlies shake things up

The Memphis Grizzlies are in the middle of a crossroads and they will have to make plenty of tough decisions this offseason. The team has failed to make forward progress over the past few seasons; the 2023-24 season was an all-out disaster amid the team's injury woes, and then during the 2024-25 campaign, they lost the plot over halfway through the season, culminating in a disastrous first-round sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder. It's not quite clear where the Grizzlies go from here; in a loaded Western Conference, it looks like many teams are passing Memphis by. Following the departures of Dillon Brooks and Steven Adams, their identity has been in flux, and they seem to be moving backwards as a result.

Grizzlies Player's Honest Ja Morant Statement Amid Trade Rumors

The Memphis Grizzlies had high hopes entering the All-Star break, holding the second-best record in the Western Conference and looking like they could be a problem come playoff time. Following a first-round series sweep from the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Grizzlies will have to ponder if they want to run it back with the same group again next year, as they haven't made many moves around this core. One name that continues to be rumored is Ja Morant, and teammate Jaylen Wells delivered a blunt statement about the trade rumors. "I don't know what Memphis is without Ja," Wells said on FanDuel TV's Run It Back.

New Blockbuster Three-Team Trade Proposal Sends JJJ to Cleveland, Allen to Memphis, Hawks Add More Wings

On paper, there doesn't seem to be much connecting the Memphis Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Atlanta failed to qualify for the postseason after losing to the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament while the Grizzlies were soundly eliminated by the OKC Thunder in a 4-0 sweep. Conversely, the Cavaliers are still alive in the postseason. Although they are down 2-1 in the second round of the playoffs to the Indiana Pacers, they won Game 3 by 22 points and will be able to tie the series up in Game 4.

Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Sends 2x All-Star to Lakers for Austin Reaves

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a disappointing first-round playoff exit after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in just five games, and now changes are needed. The Lakers had the most glaring lineup need in the NBA, and their lack of a real big man ultimately cost them their season. The Lakers traded away superstar big man Anthony Davis in exchange for Luka Doncic. Now that they have Doncic as an offensive-minded guard to run the offense, they might look to deal their other as an Anthony Davis replacement.

2 early Memphis Grizzlies NBA trade targets in 2025 offseason

There was a time this past season when the Memphis Grizzlies looked like a legitimate title threat in the Western Conference. Ja Morant returned with a vengeance, Jaren Jackson Jr was anchoring the paint, and young pieces like GG Jackson II and Jaylen Wells were flashing their upside. The Grizzlies stumbled through the final stretch of the regular season and lost their grip on a top-four seed. With a new coaching search underway and internal roster questions looming, Memphis is now staring at a pivotal offseason.
