NBA Fans Send Love to Ja Morant on Sunday

The Memphis Grizzlies have been trying to build around Ja Morant for the past six seasons, since the franchise drafted him second overall in 2019. Of course, the Grizzlies have seen some success, reaching 56 wins and a second-round playoff appearance in the 2021-22 season, and followed it up with a 51-win 2022-23 campaign. Still, despite piecing together two of the best seasons in franchise history, the Grizzlies have decided to blow up their core. With just nine games left in the 2024-25 season, when the team was 44-29, the Grizzlies decided to fire head coach Taylor Jenkins, replacing him with Tuomas Iisalo. Then, early into the 2025 offseason, the Grizzlies traded star guard Desmond Bane to

Exclusive: How Tuomas Iisalo's Grizzlies are rebooting Grit and Grind culture

Zach Kleiman's Memphis Grizzlies are entering uncharted territory under new head coach Tuomas Iisalo, but the Finnish tactician is not abandoning the franchise's Grit-and-Grind DNA. In fact, Iisalo is evolving it in a way that still works with a Three Six Mafia album. After a summer of intensive development through both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer League campaigns, Iisalo's vision for the Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.-led squad is crystallizing around familiar principles: relentless defensive pressure, breakneck movement and pace, plus an unwavering team-first mentality. While the varsity squad will not reunite with the coaching staff until training camp, Iisalo has maximized his time with key pieces Jaylen Wells, Cam Spencer, and GG Jackson.

Ja Morant's Marquee Matchups vs Lakers, Celtics, Knicks Announced

The NBA released the entire regular season schedule on Thursday afternoon, allowing the anticipation to start building. Revealing it just before the NFL and college football season was smart, too, allowing the NBA to stay in news cycles. The Memphis Grizzlies won't be playing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year, as they'll be international around the same time for matchups against the Orlando Magic in London and Berlin. Here are some of the bigger matchups for the Grizzlies this season.

Zach Edey, NBA Stars See Major Change in 2024 Re-Draft

The 2025 NBA Draft class will make their official debuts in the pros later in October, as fans will have their attention glued to see if their team made the right selection. However, fans will also have to have some patience, as NBA careers aren't determined after the first season. That doesn't stop fans and media from making predictions or holding a stance, as the 2024 NBA Draft class now heads into its second season. A class that was viewed as one of the least talented in recent memory, it looks as though it may have produced some solid future role players, with some players still having star potential. If there's one NBA player who knows controversy, it's former Memphis Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas. Whether or not Arenas is retired or playing, he seems to find himself at the center of drama and conversation. In July, Arenas was arrested on charges of illegal poker games in a moment that set the NBA world talking. Among those talking was one of Arenas' former teammates, Kwame Brown.

The city plans to keep the Grizzlies. Here's a look inside the negotiations.

The City of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies have a plan for spending $550 million on renovations to FedExForum and an understanding of a long-term agreement to keep the team in Memphis beyond the 2028-29 NBA season, according to public records and multiple people familiar with the matter. The city and the NBA franchise have discussed a renovation-funding proposal that would minimize the amount of public money at risk if the Grizzlies left town before the end of a second long-term lease. The first lease, which the team is currently operating under, expires in 2029. This is an excerpt of this story. To read more, please click here and subscribe .

NBA Mock Trade: Memphis Grizzlies Deal Ja Morant to Brooklyn Nets

Due to injuries, suspensions, and disappointing playoff performances, the Memphis Grizzlies find themselves at a crossroads. The recent blockbuster trade sending Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic indicates that the Memphis front office is open to reshaping the roster and acquiring future assets. Trade rumors surrounding Ja Morant have increased over the offseason, and the Brooklyn Nets could be the right match for a trade partner. After making the conference semi-finals in the 2021-2022 season, the Grizzlies looked like they had one of the brightest trajectories across the NBA.

Past Two Grizzlies Drafts Could Shape Next Era of Basketball in Memphis

Each member of that trio could end up being a key rotation piece, and even a starter, in Memphis for a long time. While Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. are the headliners for the Grizzlies today, things happen quickly in the NBA, and there are real scenarios in which neither of those stars is on the roster in a few years. In either case, there's no question that Edey, Wells and Coward are some of the more promising young players in the league and have the ability to impact both ends of the floor.

Why Ja Morant's Grizzlies must feast on pre-Thanksgiving NBA schedule

It can be hard to pinpoint over the smell of freshly cut football fields, but true hardwood fans are already taking in the small wafts of basketball trickling into the sporting conversation. The release of the 2025-26 NBA schedule not only added to that anticipation but also added clarity to organizational expectations to a certain degree. Some NBA Draft lottery-bound teams have more accepting, forgiving variance tolerances over the next 12 months. However, Tuomas Iisalo's Memphis Grizzlies have little doubt on where things stand with the Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. era : It's win now, and win later, or start wondering what comes next for everyone involved. Frankly, the stakes couldn't be
