#2 Gonzaga beat Portland today to improve their record to 29-2, and a likely #1 ranking in the polls. My question for you guys is: Do they deserve it?
29-2 is a great record, but their only wins against decent teams are wins against Oklahoma St., Oklahoma, Baylor, and you could argue about whether Washington St., Clemson, and West Virginia are actually quality wins. All their other wins came against small non-conference opponents or West Coast Conference teams. On the other hand, their two losses came against Illinois, who was ranked 13th at the time, but is now unranked, and Butler, who was ranked 20th at the time, but now quite possibly won't be ranked after the new polls come out after dropping two losses in a row to St. Louis and VCU.
No doubt they deserve to be in the top 25, and maybe I'm wrong and they are actually a great team. To me it seems like Gonzaga is highly untested, though, and hasn't truly earned it's high ranking.
What do you guys think? Am I wrong about them?
