OH MAN this is BRUTAL to watch even as a Sabres fan who knows a thing or two about suffering through rough stretches lmao

Five straight losses?? And look at how they're losing too - getting blown out 7-1 by Ottawa, then losing three straight games where they had to come back from behind. That OT loss to Montreal, shootout loss to Dallas after erasing a 3-goal deficit, then one-goal losses to Seattle and Anaheim. That's 0-1-4 in the last five which is absolutely PAINFUL.

The pattern here is pretty clear - Vegas keeps falling behind early and playing catch-up hockey. You can't keep spotting teams 2-3 goal leads and expect to win consistently. Even when they show fight and claw back like they did against Dallas (that Marner goal in the final minute was clutch), they're running out of gas by the time OT or shootouts come around.

And speaking of extra time... 14 EXTRA TIME LOSSES THIS SEASON?! That's insane. They're leaving so many points on the table it's not even funny. In a tight Western Conference playoff race that could absolutely come back to bite them.

The Rasmus Andersson acquisition is interesting - dude scored his first as a Knight but it was in a 7-1 blowout so who cares really. They need him and the rest of the D to tighten things up defensively because giving up 7, 3, 5, 3, and 4 goals in consecutive games ain't gonna cut it.

What's going on with this team? They looked solid earlier in the season and now they're in complete freefall mode.

Golden Knights Olympic primer: format, schedule, projected lineups and more

The National Hockey League has paused the 2025-26 season for a three-week hiatus for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. THERE WE GO!! Now THAT'S more like it for Vegas!

Two wins heading into the Olympic break is exactly what the doctor ordered after that brutal five-game skid. And look at HOW they won these games - scoring first, building leads, and actually holding onto them instead of playing catch-up hockey the whole night. That's a complete 180 from what we were seeing last week.

Four goals in 5:27 against the Kings?? That's absolutely DOMINANT. When Vegas is clicking like that they're scary good. And beating LA 4-1 is no joke - divisional rival, playoff implications, all that good stuff. That's a statement win right there.

Gotta give credit where it's due - they figured out whatever was going wrong during that losing streak and came out with some fire in these last two games. Sometimes a team just needs to get back to basics and play their game instead of overthinking everything.

Now the Olympic break comes at a perfect time for them. Let the guys who aren't going to Milano Cortina rest up, get healthy, reset mentally. Eight Knights heading to the Olympics is pretty impressive too - Stone, and I'm assuming guys like Eichel (USA), maybe some of the European players. That's a solid representation.

The question is gonna be whether they can keep this momentum going when play resumes. We've seen teams come out flat after long breaks before. But 27-16-14 is still a solid record and they're in decent playoff position.

What do you Vegas fans think - was that five-game skid just a blip or is there still some underlying concern with this team?
