The New York Giants are not simply sitting on their hands waiting to find out whether or not Todd Monken will be their offensive coordinator or the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. The Giants are among a group of teams that have requested offensive coordinator interviews with Davis Webb, per a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Webb, passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos, was a third-round pick by the Giants in 2017 and did two stints with the team as a backup quarterback.
During this hiring cycle, Webb has interviewed for head coaching jobs with the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. The Bills hired Joe Brady as their head coach, but the Raiders job is still open.
Per Schefter, the Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles have requested interviews with Webb for their vacant offensive coordinator positions.
Monken was John Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator with the Ravens for the past three seasons. It has been expected that if he does not get the head coaching job with the Browns that he will join Harbaugh with the Giants.
The Browns are said to be deciding between Monken, Cleveland defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, and Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.
The Giants, obviously, are preparing to move on to Plan B.
