I have been to a few professional and minor baseball games, but have never caught a ball at any of them. I have seen people luckily catch some in person though, and those are the very lucky ones. It's pretty rare to get one at your first game though. I hope to one day catch a ball at an MLB game, and even better get it signed by my favorite player.

Have you guys ever caught a ball at a game?

I caught one years ago at a Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians affiliate). Don't recall the player, in fact I can't even place where the ball is in my house.
Was awesome at the time it happened though.

Great job, did anyone help you catch it or did you catch it all on your own? Also, were you expecting to catch a ball that day?

I really hope to someday catch a ball at a game, my brother did catch one one day, before I was born though. Not sure if he actually still has the ball in his room or if it's somewhere around the house.

I am a balloholic. I've never actually caught a pro sports ball during a game but once I actually caught a ground rule double at Pirates batting practice. I've been throw a few balls in the MLB. The New York-Penn League, short season A, is a different story. I must have over 10 balls that I've been thrown before/during the game, but have never caught an actual live ball.

I've been pretty close to foul balls a couple times but I never got one. And I've only had outfield seats a few times so no homerun balls either.

When I was about seven years old, my dad took me to a Cleveland Indians game. I caught a ball during that game. As a kid it was a great feeling; daddy was proud and excited for me. But, as an adult looking back on that day, I think that's the day I officially decided I hated baseball. I was bored throughout the whole game (lol).

Like Teg, I would be extremely bored at a baseball game. XD I think that even if a ball did come towards me, I would fail to catch it and be humiliated in front of thousands of people. XD I have probably the worst hand-eye coordination in recorded human history. :3

To update from a couple years ago, I've now caught two balls, both from the Short Season A State College Spikes. Neither were caught directly, both were caught by me after ricocheting off of the Press Box above me. But neither balls ever touched the ground, so in my opinion I caught them. Both barehanded too!

That counts in my book! Nice!

I caught a ball with chopsticks once. It made me feel like the Mr. Miyagi of the MLB. Don't be mad at me just because I'm Asian.

Video proof or it didn't happen! :P

Caught my first foul ball (I'm 30 years old) at Comerica Park vs the Cubs last year. Off the bat of Ian Kinsler right above the 3rd base line. I gave it to a kid, seemed like the right thing to do. Never caught one since, or even been close. Went to a Tigers game in 2009 when Brandon Inge hit a walk-off home run vs the Royals and it landed about two people behind me, other than that, haven't had many chances.

Nope, never caught a fly ball. Been to plenty of minor league and major league games, but never got my hands on one. As a kid it's something I dreamed about. Going to a game, and catching a fly ball would have been a memory of a lifetime. Alas, it never happened and I was sorely disappointed. At a couple of minor league games I've come close, but usually a little kid beat me to it. This was recently, and I'm not as quick as I used to be. Eventually I'll get one, I'd like to think. If not, I've got some bad luck.

I remember it like it was yesterday.  Three Rivers Stadium, former home of the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Bonds was up to bat and sailed one right into the near-empty bleachers that me and some classmates were occupying with a few other scattered spectators among us.  The ball practically fell right into my lap.  It scared the crap out of me because I honestly wasn't paying attention at all at the time.  As soon as I realized the ball was between my legs, some big fat guy jumped two rows down and pushed me out of my seat for the ball that was rightfully mine.  Even at 12/13 years old, I was so mad, I poured my entire 32 oz Pepsi, including ice, right on the guy's head.  It was hot and the seats had zero shade.  I felt bad immediately after because the guy looked like he was about to go into shock from the extreme temperature change from my Pepsi bath.  He sat there all smug with my ball for the rest of the game, sticky and wet from the soda.

I was at a Pirates vs Cubs game at PNC Park on Monday and Javier Baez tossed me a ball during batting practice.

Nice! I always feel the tosses are better than the batted balls. There's intent behind the toss. Much better in my mind.

I don't know, I'd much rather have a batted ball because there was some skill involved in getting it.

Sadly no, I've never caught a ball at a game. Slightly off the catching topic, but my only claim to fame at a baseball game was I once was on the "big screen" when I went to a baseball game on vacation when I was in the States. Now that was something to tell people about back home.
