Eagles Film Review: Myles Hinton possesses the size to develop into a future starter

A closer look at Philadelphia’s eighth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

With the 2025 NFL Draft over, it’s time for some film rooms on the Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie class. I will try to get to all 10 draft picks and the UDFAs over the next few weeks. Loads of scouting reports will say very similar things, so I have tried to include film clips to back up everything and I will talk about the player’s fit with the Eagles at the end of the piece. I managed to get the All22 for several rookies, but I can’t share those clips on my Twitter accounts (or I risk getting blocked), so I’ve used a few other accounts here. Let’s go!

You can check out my podcast feed here to hear more from me. I have a Patreon linked to my podcast if you want to support me further. Due to being unable to share All22 on Twitter, I am doing All22 watch-alongs on every Eagles’ rookie on the Patreon, which is really cool!

Previously: Jihaad Campbell / Andrew Mukuba / Ty Robinson / Mac McWilliams / Smael Mondon / Drew Kendall / Kyle McCord

Strengths

+ He has outstanding size and length. 6’7”, 323 pounds with 34⅛” arms and an 82¾” wingspan. He is built like a prototype NFL tackle. There are many good clips here to see his size in action.

New #Eagles OL Myles Hinton is a big, bruising player that wants to gets his hands on defensive linemen quickly. Gets into kick slide with ease.

Needs to sustain his blocks better and improve pad level, but has real power and length to develop under Jeff Stoutland. pic.twitter.com/bOvDlHxclk

— Devin Jackson (@RealD_Jackson) May 7, 2025

+ That size impacts his power and strength, too. When he gets going, he can move people out in space. He’s very comfortable getting out in space and locating targets when pulling or climbing to linebackers.

Feast your eyes on this enormous stack of pancake delivered my RT Myles Hinton (78), the transfer from Stanford.

he ragdolled that kid. pic.twitter.com/TpqaSjJleW

— Due# (@JDue51) September 10, 2023

+ Moves impressively well laterally in pass protection; he’s hard to get around due to his feet and length.

Myles Hinton Mirror Drill #NFLCombine pic.twitter.com/HHwFbG7LA2

— WalkTheMock (@WalkTheMock) March 2, 2025

+ He has the size and anchor to handle bull rushers most of the time. He has powerful hands when he connects and the core strength to hold up in pass protection.

+ Just one flag in two seasons at Michigan; plays with discipline. I didn’t encounter many issues when it came to identifying blitzers.

+ Son of former seven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Chris Hinton.

Weaknesses

- It’s a shame we didn’t get to see his athletic testing numbers. He appears athletic on film, but testing is crucial when evaluating the offensive line. He looks athletic in space but he doesn’t always look fluid when adjusting to stunts and twists.

Myles Hinton was drafted in round 6 pick 191 in the 2025 draft class. He does not qualify for a #RAS due to a lack of measurements. https://t.co/SYddKaWue5 pic.twitter.com/zK36qWvX3c

— RAS.football (@MathBomb) April 26, 2025

- One of the downsides of being so big is that he can struggle with his leverage and play too high. He’s often knocked backwards due to this, and it can also cause him to reach and miss. His strike timing and footwork don’t always look aligned to me.

- He has some highlight reel blocks in the run game where he flattens someone, but he doesn’t consistently sustain his blocks.

- When I saw him get beaten, it often appeared to be inside. I wonder if he oversets at times, which leaves him exposed to inside moves.

Overall

This is another Eagles’ day 3 draft pick that I like. I’m not clueless; I know that most day 3 draft picks don't work out, but I think the Eagles added a lot of interesting talent. Myles Hinton is another intriguing talent. The number one offensive line scout online, Brandon Thorn, had Myles Hinton as a 4th-round pick, which doesn’t surprise me at all. He’s a talented lineman who possesses the size to develop into a future starter, although he requires significant technical improvement. I hope we don’t see him this year.

I’ve not seen anyone else mention this online, but I wonder if there’s a slight possibility that Hinton is developed as a guard further down the line, too. I know he has prototypical tackle size, but the Eagles showed with Mekhi Becton (6-foot-7⅜ and 364 pounds) that they are willing to have a giant at guard. If Hinton did end up at guard, it would help him overcome some of his issues with oversetting and getting beaten inside.

Overall, Hinton is a massive, athletic offensive tackle who offers the physical tools to develop into a solid NFL swing tackle or a future starter down the line. He displays impressive foot quickness and body control for his size, and has some highlight-reel blocks out in space. However, he lacks the down-to-down consistency to play immediately due to his issues with leverage, and he struggles to handle inside pass rush moves. Welcome to Stoutland University...

Thank you for reading! I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to comment below and ask any questions. If you enjoyed this piece, you can find more of my work and podcast here.

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/7/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

PFF Cornerback Rankings: Top 32 ahead of the 2025 NFL season - PFF
11. Cooper DeJean, Philadelphia Eagles. The highest-ranked rookie from 2024 on the list, DeJean was phenomenal for the Eagles in their Super Bowl run. He ranked second in PFF coverage grade from man and zone-match coverage in 2024 (76.7), third in PFF coverage grade (84.1) and 12th in PFF advanced coverage grade. He did not allow a touchdown on 97 targets. [...] 16. Quinyon Mitchell, Philadelphia Eagles. The top two rookie cornerbacks from 2024 were the Eagles’ first two selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. Mitchell fared better than his teammate in PFF advanced coverage grade, ranking sixth, but placed ninth in PFF overall and standard coverage grades. Don’t be surprised if Mitchell contends for a top-five spot a year from now, as he finished the 2024 season with 15 forced incompletions (third most).

The lasting impact of Brandon Graham on Nolan Smith - NBCSP
After 15 seasons and two Super Bowl titles, Brandon Graham officially retired from the NFL this offseason. But his legacy lives on in Nolan Smith. Smith, 24, thinks about Graham every day when he looks into the mirror at his house and sees the words “Be You” written down. A reminder of the most important bit of advice he got from his legendary former teammate, advice that helped him get through a slow start as a rookie back in 2023. “It was just a learning year,” Smith said. “And, truly, a testament to Brandon Graham. You’re about to make me cry up here just because BG gave me so much just from the outside world putting so much pressure on me. ‘You’re a first-round pick, you need to do this, you need to do that.’ BG just told me, ‘Be you.’ And til this point that’s what I got on my mirror, my goals, be you.

Mike Trout’s Super Bowl bat message becomes a baseball card - PFT
The NFL has infiltrated the world of baseball cards, in one very specific way. Via TheAthletic.com, Angels outfielder Mike Trout’s inscription of the Super Bowl LIX final score on the bottom of his bat has become a baseball card. The card shows this writing from Trout: “Eagles 40, Chiefs 22” and “Fly Eagles Fly!” It will be included in Topps’ upcoming Tier One set.

Report: Jacksonville Jaguars sign EDGE Dennis Gardeck, release RB Keilen Robinson, waive OL Cooper Hodges - Big Cat Country
In an assumingly corresponding move, the Jaguars released running back Keilan Robinson, according to Jeremy Fowler. The former Longhorn was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft to be Jacksonville’s secondary return man behind Devin Duvernay. Unfortunately, Robinson played in just six games as a rookie due to a toe injury. He recorded 2 kick returns for 34 yards. [BLG Note: The Eagles claimed Robinson off waivers on Friday.]

Fans have high expectations for Commanders rookies and some concern about veteran absence from OTAs - Hogs Haven
Second-round draft pick, CB Trey Amos, got the most votes in the survey. More than one-third of all survey respondents expect him to out-produce his draft position (61st overall pick in the 2025 draft). Given that the expectations for a second-round pick are so much higher than those for Day 3 picks, this seems to say a lot about what Hogs Haven readers think of Trey Amos. Here’s a taste of the commentary about the young cornerback from the comments section of the survey article. At least one comment here that suggests that Amos could end up as an All Pro may be projecting a bit beyond the scope of the question in the survey which aimed to focus on rookie-year performance, but then, we’ve never suggested that these are scientifically valid surveys. Personally, I’m thrilled to see the enthusiasm for Trey Amos that this survey and these comments demonstrate.

DaRon Bland cornerback ranking at PFF is not what you’d expect heading into 2025 - Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys had a bad 2024 season overall. Expectations were that the team was talented enough to win the Super Bowl—maybe not, but at least compete for a Wild Card playoff spot. There’s no question the front office could have done more to set the team up better last season, but injuries played a significant role in last year’s downfall. The Cowboys seem to be paying for their woebegone year in Pro Football Focus’s annual positional power rankings of NFL players, with many from Dallas absent entirely from the lists. In their latest ranking of the league’s Top 32 cornerbacks heading into 2025, All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland was sitting at the bottom.

Are the Giants actually among the NFL’s best drafting franchises? - Big Blue View
This is, of course, the elephant in the room: 2020 through 2025 was dominated by Daniel Jones. And while we don’t need to relitigate that all again, but it’s also undeniably true that a quarterback sets the ceiling and floor for a team. Quarterback play touches on, and influences, every other aspect of the team. Things like sack rate, passing yardage, and efficiency are “sticky” and tend to be independent of situation. And from that perspective, Jones is a limited quarterback who limited the team around him. He seldom allowed the players around him to play up to their potential. Likewise, his offenses rarely gave the defense a lead to protect or forced the opposing offense to pass to keep up. As Gridiron Grading put it “QB issue? Probably.” That’s a sentiment that the Giants’ organization has seemed to echo this year, adding Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart to transform the quarterback room. Each of those players represents a philosophic shift from Jones and how he the offense was schemed around his play and preferences. Given that they were each chosen by Brian Daboll, we have to assume that they’re more in line with his vision for the offense. One of the big stories to follow this year is how (or if) players perform after a change, and possible upgrade, at the most important position.

Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen wants takeaway-starved Giants filling treasure chest: ‘Be a damn pirate’ - NFL.com
Talk Like a Pirate Day falls on Sept. 19, 2025. Playing like a pirate is now a daily aspiration for the New York Giants’ defenders. Thus, whenever defensive coordinator Shane Bowen’s squad has tallied a takeaway during organized team activities, the Giants have celebrated by tucking their newfound prize into a treasure chest. It’s a novel approach for a DC looking to improve from a 2024 showing in which Big Blue mustered just 15 takeaways — 28th in the NFL. “You’ll hear our guys say it. I say it ad nauseum: ‘Be a damn pirate,’” Bowen said Thursday, via team transcript. “We got to find ways to get the ball. And, again, you get what you emphasize. We’re making it a priority this year to make sure we find ways to get the ball.”

A single GM managed to set back 2 NFL teams YEARS - SB Nation
A good general manager can overhaul an NFL franchise. A bad one is capable of doing incredible damage. Today we look back at one man whose negative influence on two organizations was so profound that they’re both still recovering from his tenure. Ask fans of the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants who was the worst GM in team history and they’ll give you the same answer: Dave Gettleman.

The Linc - Should the Eagles trade for Trey Hendrickson?

Pittsburgh Steelers v Cincinnati Bengals

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/8/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Trey Hendrickson to Eagles? Tyreek Hill to Patriots? Seven trades we’d like to see during NFL offseason - NFL.com
Trey Hendrickson to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles dominated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl with a relentless pass rush, but Philadelphia has questions on that front heading into the 2025 campaign, given the loss of Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith’s injury and the inherent need for young guys like Moro Ojomo (2023 seventh-round pick) and Jalyx Hunt (2024 third-rounder) to level up. General manager Howie Roseman hit big on the trade for wide receiver A.J. Brown in 2022. Trading for Hendrickson, who’s in a contract standoff with the Bengals, could provide a similar effect for the defense. Plus, the Eagles just cleared more cap space by dealing Huff. This would be a case of the rich getting richer — and a move I wouldn’t put past Philly.

Vic Fangio feels good about Eagles’ pass rush despite offseason departures - PFT
Fangio mentioned Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari as players he thinks he can count on to be a big part of the pass rush this season. “I feel good about Nolan,” Fangio said. “I think we’ll feel good about Jalyx now that he’s gonna get a lot of reps and develop. He played good for us down the stretch last year, and played a lot, as you saw, so I feel good about those two guys, and I think they’ll continue to improve. We’ve got Uche, we’ve got Azeez, we’ve got three other guys there. I think we’ll be fine.”

Eagles Film Review: Cameron Williams has the tools to become a starter - BGN
Clearly, I valued him incorrectly. I ended up ranking significantly higher than where he was drafted. But I was not alone! The number one offensive line scout online, Brandon Thorn, had Myles Hinton as a 3rd-round pick, too. So, I’m not crazy! As I mentioned earlier, I believe Cameron Williams is a physically imposing, long offensive tackle whose flashes of dominant power and ability to move in space make his upside easy to discern. He has several technical issues, as mentioned above (hand placement, pad level, balance issues, and penalties), but the physical tools are all in place. I don’t think he will be ready to play at all this year, but I wouldn’t risk putting him on the practice squad either. He could be a good candidate to have a ‘season-ending hamstring injury’ towards the end of training camp. I hope he gets the chance to attend Stoutland University for at least 2 seasons.

Eagles spring injury report - PhillyVoice
LB Nakobe Dean (knee): Dean tore his patellar tendon in the Eagles’ Wild Card Round win over the Green Bay Packers. As our Evan Macy detailed back in January, patellar tendon tears are more serious than ACL or Achilles tears. Last Tuesday, Vic Fangio remarked that Dean would not be returning to the field “anytime soon.” Dean will almost certainly begin training camp on the PUP list, and remain there to begin the regular season. With Dean and Jihaad Campbell both out, Jeremiah Trotter got first-team reps alongside Zack Baun in OTAs.

Daily Slop - 8 Jun 25 - Giants fans have Week 1 home game vs Commanders circled on the calendar - Hogs Haven
“We’re in the season of hope, and Week 1 should be our first chance to see Russell Wilson, Abdul Carter, Darius Alexander, and Cam Skattebo on the field. The Giants will get to test themselves against a division rival that played in the NFC Champhionship, and prove that they’re better than they’re given credit. And the chance to, perhaps, start Jayden Daniels sophomore season on a sour note is compelling as well. It’s still early yet and a lot can change over the coming months. But FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Giants as 6.5-point underdogs on the road against Washington. That, however, also illustrates just how rapidly life can change in the NFL.”

Dak Prescott remains longest-tenured starting QB in the NFL with their respective team - Blogging The Boys
It is rather wild to think that Prescott has been the Cowboys starting quarterback longer than any other quarterback has for their current team across the league, but that speaks to the turnover rate that we tend to see. Players who come close to him as far as still being with their teams are Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs (2017), Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills (2018) and Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens (2018). Matthew Stafford represents a player with far more NFL experience than Dak, but he joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 which was five years after the Cowboys drafted Prescott. Similarly, Jared Goff technically has two days on Dak in terms of NFL experience as he was the number one overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but he was a part of that Stafford trade and has been with the Detroit Lions for the last four years. Time can be a funny thing in the NFL, but no starting quarterback has spent more of it with their current team than Dak Prescott has with the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott is now 2-5 in 7 career playoff games.

Out of 169 playoff QBs with at least one win, only 7 have a worse winning percentage.

Dak’s 2 wins? 18-15 combined opponent record, lowest win percentage in playoff wins among 109 QBs to win multiple games.

Yikes.

— Brandon Lee Gowton (@BrandonGowton) January 15, 2024

Dak Prescott (drafted in 2016) 2 playoff wins

Jalen Hurts (drafted in 2020): 6 playoff wins including 1 Super Bowl

— Brandon Lee Gowton (@BrandonGowton) February 10, 2025

Are the Giants really all-in on Russell Wilson as their 2025 quarterback? - Big Blue View
Jaxson Dart’s time is coming. There will be nothing Wilson can do to stop it. He can delay it by playing good football and winning games, but he can’t prevent it from happening. Kurt Warner couldn’t prevent the coming of Eli Manning despite a winning record that had the Giants on the periphery of playoff contention. Manning couldn’t prevent Daniel Jones from taking his job despite two Super Bowl titles and the best career a Giants’ quarterback has ever had. Wilson won’t be able to hold Dart off forever, either. The Giants will continue to give Wilson his respect, his flowers, if you will. Until, of course, it’s time to move on to the younger, prettier, more exciting model in Dart. Then, the bouquets will be sent in Dart’s direction and Wilson will fade away.

Friday discussion: Will it work for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers? - SB Nation
Let’s be honest dear readers. You have had a lot of time to think about this one. The long-anticipated decision from Aaron Rodgers has arrived, and the veteran quarterback is heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers. News broke on Thursday afternoon that Rodgers would put pen to paper on a contract with the Steelers, and travel to Pittsburgh in time for the team’s minicamp next week. But will it work? We have our thoughts, but we want to hear yours too.

+ Really strong at the point of attack in pass protection. He can stonewall rushers with sheer size and grip strength once locked in with good hand placement. His hands are inconsistent, but when he wins, he dominates.

+ Good mobility for his size, allowing him to execute pulls and cover second-level defenders effectively.

+ Strong physical traits and power in the run game. he’s able to overwhelm defenders in the run game and create a solid anchor in pass protection. His physicality shows up when he’s latched onto defenders.

— Billy M (@BillyM_91) December 21, 2024

A lot of teams reached for a tackle early, but Philly just got GREAT value with OT Cameron Williams.

Very young and raw, but ready-made NFL frame with a ton of strength. Fun project with big upside.

pic.twitter.com/bJxCYmO1cY

— Brady Balhorn - BNB Football (@BnbFootball) April 26, 2025

+ Considering his size, he moves well in space and is fluid on pulls and climbs.

+ Only one full year of starting experience and already flashes starting-level traits. The tools are there.

Weaknessess

- He is extremely inconsistent with his hand placement, and his late hand strikes leave him prone to losing balance. He ends up on the ground far too often.

- He’s raw in every way, not just technically. He’s had 11 false start penalties in 16 starts. He’s still learning how to play. He has a few reps a game where he is all over the place.

- He struggles with footwork, and despite moving well, he doesn’t always look fluid or coordinated.

- It’s a shame we didn’t get to see his athletic testing numbers. He appears athletic on film, but testing is crucial when evaluating the offensive line.

Cameron Williams was drafted in round 6 pick 207 in the 2025 draft class. He does not qualify for a #RAS due to a lack of measurements. https://t.co/9cSLHN6ahD pic.twitter.com/8zdaEGse79

— RAS.football (@MathBomb) April 26, 2025

- Has a bad tendency to lunge and fail to latch onto defenders. This links to his inability to time his hand strikes. He can struggle with counter moves because of that.

You can see him struggle with the counter move in the 3rd clip here...

ED Josaiah Stewart vs RT Cameron Williams pic.twitter.com/DWepsOnP1r

— Taylor Kyles (@tkyles39) March 30, 2025

- No experience playing as a left tackle. He’s been a right tackle only. He is a one-year starter who has started only 16 games in total.

Overall

Oh baby. This was my favorite Day 3 pick. I know that Jeff Stoutland is buzzing to get to work with this guy. It’s very rare that we reach the 6th round and the Eagles draft someone I watched before the draft. Well, it happened! Here was my pre-draft scouting report on Cameron Williams.

Overall: A one-year starter, Cameron Williams possesses ideal physical traits including length, power, and athleticism. However, he struggles with technique, particularly in hand placement and footwork, which often leads to balance issues and penalties. Williams could develop into a starter down the road, though patience will be required.

Eagles Thoughts: An athletic lineman with physical traits that badly needs coaching? That sounds like Jeff Stoutland’s music. I just wish we had testing numbers, but he was injured. He could compete at guard or develop at tackle. I like this in the 3rd round.

Cameron Williams requires significant improvement. There’s a high chance he never reaches his potential. He is a pure gamble on traits. However, I do honestly believe he could end up starting for the Eagles in 2-3 years. It wouldn’t be crazy. This guy has the tools to become a starter.

The Eagles talk about drafting Lane Johnson’s replacement every single year. Is it possible the Eagles managed to do that in the 6th round?! I don’t think it’s impossible when you have Jeff Stoutland...

The Linc - Eagles have two “dark horse” NFL MVP candidates

Super Bowl Handoff & Winning MVP & Head Coach Press Conference

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/10/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

2025 NFL MVP dark horses: Ja’Marr Chase, Travis Hunter, Baker Mayfield among potential candidates - NFL.com
SAQUON BARKLEY: After Barkley’s extraordinary effort in 2024, it’s hard to imagine what more the 28-year-old back could do to bolster his candidacy in 2025. But something close to a repeat performance would at least reinforce how unique he is, even among the NFL’s best players, and how invaluable he is to one of the league’s elite teams. What other definition of Most Valuable Player is there? [...] JALEN HURTS: The reigning Super Bowl MVP, Hurts was uneven last season but finished second in MVP voting in 2022. He has plenty of weapons in the passing game — A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert — but with so much of the offense running through Barkley, Hurts might not be able to amass the type of statistics that draw the attention of MVP voters, despite leading one of the NFL’s best teams.

Jeffrey Lurie continues to support the Autism community with $50 million donation - BGN
Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie is putting his money where his mouth is in regards to his commitment to Autism research and the community. Lurie is donating $50 million to launch the Lurie Autism Institute in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine.

Eagles rookie NFL player comparisons: EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland - PhillyVoice
This is going to be an unpopular comp, but watching Powell-Ryland’s highlight reel reminded me of when I cut up Bryce Huff’s 2023 sacks with the Jets. Watch both and tell me they don’t look like the same guy. Obviously, Eagles fans didn’t see much of that in 2024, but Huff was an effective situational pass rusher with the Jets — for one season, anyway — despite his lack of size. One big difference is that Powell-Ryland plays hard, while Huff seemed disinterested for most of the 2024 season.

Can the Eagles defense run it back? - ESPN
The odds of Philadelphia’s defense maintaining such a high level of play after losing so much talent aren’t great. But the presence of Fangio gives them a shot. The Eagles’ defensive fortunes did a 180 when Fangio was hired to replace Sean Desai and Matt Patricia last offseason. His demanding, old school approach and deep well of knowledge built up over 40 years in coaching was exactly what the doctor ordered to get things back on track. His cred has only gone up since overseeing a top-ranked defense that made Mahomes look ordinary in a 40-22 thrashing of the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. “I don’t think Coach Vic knows but, man, he coached some of my favorite guys in the world,” said Smith. “Watching Von Miller in his defense made me want to be the person that I am today. Just relentless, like ‘Who is that guy? What does he do during the offseason? Why is he always at the ball?’ “Coach Vic, watching him and how he molded those guys, it’s nothing for me to listen to him, to be coachable. Are you crazy? He coached guys that surpassed in the league, Super Bowl MVPs. And he’ll never talk about none of that, but you feel it.”

The final look: After holding his first-ever mandatory camp last year, Nick Sirianni reduced it to just one day in 2025 as the Eagles are coming off a long Super Bowl season in 2024. The only team without a mandatory minicamp this spring is the Detroit Lions. Most teams have a multi-day minicamp like the Eagles did last year. This will be our final look at the Eagles this spring ahead of training camp. Reporters will get to watch players go through individual drills, special teams, 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s in shorts and helmets. It’ll also be our final time speaking with Sirianni until the team is back together in training camp. We’ll get his thoughts on where the team sits as they get ready for the longest break of the calendar.

One reason for optimism for every team ahead of the 2025 NFL season - PFF
Philadelphia Eagles: A stacked roster returns. Philadelphia ran roughshod through the NFL last season en route to its second Super Bowl victory. This year’s edition of the Eagles is poised to defend their title, returning 20 of their 25 players who led the team in snaps last season. Their defense, which paced the NFL in PFF grade last season, took most of the damage but returns stars such as Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. The Eagles boast the best roster in the NFL heading into this season.

Meet Gabrielle Dillon: Influencer, foodie, entrepreneur, mother, and wife of new Eagles running back AJ Dillon - Inquirer
Dillon also shares an Instagram account and a food blog with her husband, called Dining with the Dillons, which has gained more than 20,000 followers on Instagram. The page features food reviews from Green Bay, Florida — where her parents now reside — and of course, Philadelphia. After Dillon signed with the Eagles in March, the family packed their bags and made the move just four weeks later. After living in Philly for almost three months, she spoke with The Inquirer about her foodie adventures, being a mother, and adjusting to a new life in a different city.

Terry McLaurin not attending mandatory minicamp; Looking for new deal with Commanders - Hogs Haven
McLaurin will be 30 during in September and is entering the final year of his last contract extension. He skipped OTAs and mandatory minicamp during the last round of negotiations, but signed his new 3-year extension worth up to $71 million on July 5th, 2022, three weeks before the start of training camp.

Cowboys training camp battles: Javonte Williams vs Miles Sanders - Blogging The Boys
When the Cowboys get to Oxnard, it will be important to track who is getting a majority of the first-team reps and who is performing at a higher level, because more than likely that will be the Cowboys RB1 heading into the 2025 season. We must note as well, the Cowboys week one matchup could be an interesting revenge game for Miles Sanders against the Philadelphia Eagles if he is able to win the job this offseason.

Can tight end Greg Dulcich revive once-promising career with New York Giants? - Big Blue View
Dulcich, a little bit like Johnson with the Giants in 2024, had a promising rookie season that was cut short by injury. He caught 33 passes for 411 yards and 2 touchdowns in 10 games, missing the final seven with a right hamstring injury. That same troublesome hamstring held him back in 2023 as he injured in twice and played in only two games. The Broncos waived him late November last season after Dulcich had been inactive for eight straight games, and the Giants claimed him. When Dulcich was waived by Denver, Predominantly Orange wrote that Dulich “hasn’t been the same player” since the leg injuries began in 2022. If he can stay healthy, perhaps the 25-year-old Dulcich still has some pass-catching upside.

Eagles Minicamp Practice Notes: Jalen Hurts caps off strong spring

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles Minicamp

Kyle Ross-Imagn Images

Observations from Tuesday’s session at the NovaCare Complex.

The reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles held their one and only mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday afternoon and I was at the NovaCare Complex to watch the action unfold. Here’s what I saw!

DID NOT PARTICIPATE — Jalen Carter, Cam Jurgens, Avery Williams, Elijah Cooks, Marcus Tate

LIMITED PARTICIPATION — Jihaad Campbell, Zack Baun, Myles Hinton, Nolan Smith

For the first time in a media-attended practice, Campbell participated in position drills (and those only). Vic Fangio previously said the 2025 first-round pick won’t be fully back until August but this is still a step in the right direction. Campbell was working with the off-ball linebackers, as expected.

Here’s some proof: pic.twitter.com/3HRuLT8cY0

— Brandon Lee Gowton (@BrandonGowton) June 10, 2025

Baun didn’t participate in team drills. After practice, he said he sat out due to “overall general soreness.”

Hinton left practice early to be evaluated in the medical tent. The rookie then walked into the team facility with a trainer and did not return.

  • JALEN HURTS UPDATE: The reigning Super Bowl MVP had another good practice. Hurts hit DeVonta Smith down the left sideline (with Smael Mondon Jr. trailing) for a touchdown in 7-on-7. He also connected with a crossing Terrace Marshall, who seemed to catch Cooper DeJean napping, in stride on a slant for a catch-and-run score. All told, it was a good spring for Hurts. Despite the fact he’s adjusting to yet another new play-caller, he looked comfortable and decisive. The ball rarely hit the ground and he didn’t come close to throwing an interception. He also avoided taking “sacks” at a high rate. How much should be made of Hurts looking good? Hard to say for sure but it beats the alternative. For historical context, Hurts had a good spring in 2022 but was less sharp in 2023 and 2024.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — CORNERBACK: Kelee Ringo broke up a Tanner McKee throw to Danny Gray on a comeback. Then he had a leaping breakup on a McKee jump ball throw to Terrace Marshall. Not the best pass but still a good job by Ringo. Ringo was first up at right cornerback with the Eagles’ first-team defense in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. He did still rotate with Adoree’ Jackson.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — SAFETY: Sydney Brown was once again the first first-team safety, although Drew Mukuba rotated in with the starting defense. Brown stumbled to allow a catch to Dallas Goedert in 7-on-7. He also allowed a catch to Harrison Bryant. Vic Fangio notably mentioned that Tristin McCollum is in the mix with Brown and Mukuba for a starting spot ... but Andre’ Sam has seemingly seen more first-team reps than McCollum has taken. Don’t sleep on Sam.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — WIDE RECEIVER: Don’t be surprised if Danny Gray makes the roster. He has some juice. Gray was able to run away from nearby defenders after making a catch over the middle in traffic. He also made a crucial catch against tight coverage in a situational scenario towards the end of practice. Terrace Marshall was also active on Tuesday and even earned a shoutout from Hurts after practice. Undrafted rookie Darius Cooper has caught my attention as a practice squad consideration. Ainias Smith had two nice catches today but it was otherwise a relatively quiet spring for the second-year player. Johnny Wilson, who missed at least the media-attended OTA practices, wasn’t very active on Tuesday.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — LINEBACKER: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Smael Mondon Jr. were the first-team linebackers with Baun, Campbell, and Nakobe Dean all not practicing. Good opportunity for the young guys to soak up some reps against high quality competition.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — RIGHT GUARD: Tyler Steen is still the top right guard. No rotation there.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — BACKUP CENTER: Brett Toth has been the first-team center with Jurgens not practicing. The Eagles really need to stop trying to make that work because he simply can’t snap. Toth had multiple low shotgun snaps on Tuesday that ruined reps for the offense. And it’s not like this is a new issue! Toth previously struggled like this in 2023 ... to the point where the Eagles re-signed Josh Andrews just to have a second-team center who could snap the ball in practice. Toth’s struggles could open the door for rookie Drew Kendall to be on the rise. It’s also worth noting that Trevor Keegan was seen playing center in position drills (hat tip to Zach Berman).
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — QB3: Dorian Thompson-Robinson was once again up first as the third quarterback but Kyle McCord outperformed him. The rookie quarterback made an eye-opening throw with a dart to a tightly covered Nick Muse in traffic for a touchdown. McCord had two more completions to Muse over the middle.
  • POSITION BATTLE UPDATE — TE3: Kylen Granson was a common target for McKee. Bryant made a good leaping catch in traffic. Muse made a great diving grab on a McCord throw that had a little too much mustarrrrdddddddddd on it. Would be interested to see Muse get some second-team offense looks. E.J. Jenkins has been quiet after standing out last offseason.
  • Saquon Barkley had a big run up the middle. What’s new?
  • Jalyx Hunt was active in the backfield on multiple reps. Probably good to see him be so noticeable.
  • Rookie defensive tackle Ty Robinson batted down a DTR pass at the line of scrimmage for an incompletion.
  • Delaware State head coach DeSean Jackson was a guest at today’s practice, as were multiple members of his coaching staff.
  • Dom DiSandro was wearing a white Eagles hat with “Big Dom” embossed on the side. Not sure if I’ve seen that before. Couldn’t get a picture of it but I’ll try during training camp.
  • Undrafted rookie defensive back Brandon Mayes got flagged for totally mugging a wide receiver.
  • Undrafted rookie running back ShunDerrick Powell fumbled the ball along the left sideline after making a catch in the flat. Tough to lose control of the ball in non-contact practices.
  • Undrafted rookie wide receiver Ife Adeyi participated in practice. The same Adeyi who was signed and then quickly cut last week in order to make room for the Keilan Robinson waiver claim. Guessing Adeyi was attending on a tryout basis. He wore No. 48. Robinson is wearing No. 35.

UP NEXT: Summer vacation! Eagles players and coaches are off until training camp begins in late July. We’ll still have daily coverage of the Birds here at Bleeding Green Nation in the meantime ... barring a Vox Media Union strike that could impact BGN soon.

Jalen Hurts talks about building more chemistry with Jahan Dotson and others

Hurts.0.jpg

The Eagles QB also spoke about working with new play caller Kevin Patullo.

The Eagles were wrapping up their offseason program on Tuesday, and quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke to reporters before leaving the complex. He talked about working with another new play caller, how it’s been to get more work with some of the depth players, and how Saquon Barkley is and should attack the offseason.

Here’s some of what the QB had to say:

On working with Kevin Patullo

Hurts talked about how he’s adjusting to new OC Kevin Patullo as the playcaller.

“I’ve treated this offseason like I’ve treated every offseason. Coming in and trying to learn as much as I can, trying to develop that chemistry with the playcaller. And as offensive leadership changes, you have to find ways to — not really about finding ways, it’s more so about depositing time into it. I spend a lot of time. So, we’ve had some valuable conversations that I think will help us all in the end.

And, of course, he’s already had a mark on all of the teams since Coach Sirianni and himself have been here. So, we’re just building. Far from where we want to be, but trying to build that and trying to continue to grow.”

The QB went on to say that Patullo has had a hand in the offense the past few years, but now he’ll have the final say as the coordinator. In that regard, Hurts said the OC is doing a good job, but at the same time, the QB’s job is to find success regardless of who is calling plays.

Hurts admitted that he’s had a different play caller every year, so he’s gotten better and evolved in the process of acclimating to new leadership. As he’s collected more information and seen different successes and failures over the years, he’s been able to approach things more effectively.

On having more time with Jahan Dotson

“I think that time has been valuable. It’s been valuable working with Jahan [Dotson], working with Terrace Marshall — he made a lot of big plays this offseason —, Dallas [Goedert], Grant [Calcaterra], Harrison [Bryant]. Everyone — Saquon [Barkley] out there. Everyone who was able to go and available, working with them and taking advantage of that, that was big.

I think that’s important for developing that chemistry, and we all know the season can go any type of way, and so just making sure you kind of can have a foundation of some sort with everyone is important. And then I’ve also had the conversation with Coach Patullo of who’s available matters, but ultimately it’s about how we put them in a position to do what we’re going to do.”

On Saquon Barkley

Hurts was asked what Saquon Barkley can do this offseason to elevate his game even higher, and the QB pointed to Barkley just staying consistent, something the RB already does really well.

He went on to say that Barkley added a new dynamic to the offense and compliments the other pieces really well. The RB works hard, and they need him to just keep being himself.

Regardless of how other teams throughout the league might try to adjust and limit Barkley, Hurts pointed out that defenses still have to pick their poison. They just have to execute and players need to be prepared to make the most of whatever opportunity comes their way.

Other notables

  • Hurts was very complimentary of new QB coach Scot Loeffler, saying that he came in talking about wanting to help Hurts elevate his game to the next level. He’s gone through a lot of different quarterback coaches and he’s learned to be a sponge and soak in different insights from different guys.
  • He mentioned that he’s spoken with both Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter about what it takes to repeat and win back-to-back championships.
  • The quarterback noted it’s too early to glean anything about this year’s roster, but some of the depth players got experience and that’s really valuable, especially long term.
  • Despite going to the Super Bowl, it didn’t affect his turnaround for training and offseason regimen — he reiterated that playing late into the season didn’t affect his routine “this time.” Hurts admitted that part of the reason he got right back to work is to keep his sanity and to begin fine-tuning the things he wants to work on.

Report: Eagles hire “rising star” LSU director of player personnel

t7C8AAIc_400x400.0.jpg

Philadelphia is working to restock their front office talent.

The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring LSU director of player personnel Preston Tiffany, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Tiffany, described by Zenitz as “one of the rising stars in the college personnel world,” is presumably joining the Eagles’ front office. His exact title is not currently known but the team is expected to officially announce front office changes sometime this month.

Tiffany has a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance after attending South Carolina from 2016-2020. He then got his MBA from Ole Miss.

Here’s a snapshot of his football personnel experience:

2018-2020 — South Carolina undergraduate recruiting and player personnel assistant

2020-2021 — Ole Miss graduate recruiting and player personnel assistant

2021-2022 — Ole Miss recruiting and personnel assistant

2022-2023 — Ole Miss coordinator of personnel

2023-2024 — Ole Miss director of player personnel

2024-2025 — LSU director of player personnel

From Tiffany’s bio on LSU’s website:

Tiffany played a key role in acquiring talent that produced the best season in Ole Miss history in 2023 as the Rebels won a program-record 11 games, defeated Penn State in the Peach Bowl and finished the year ranked No. 9 in the nation.

The Eagles lost some key long-time front office executives earlier this offseason. We’ve been saying that it’s important for Howie Roseman to restock the pipeline and it appears that’s what he’s aiming to do with the Tiffany hire.

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/12/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Saquon Barkley tops NFLPA player sales list - PFT
It’s been a very good year for Saquon Barkley. On top of everything else he achieved in his first season with the Eagles, Barkley finished the period of March 1, 2024 through February 28, 2025 as the top player in NFLPA-licensed products. He’s the first running back to top the list since Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott in 2017. Here’s the full top 20: 1. Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles. 2. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs. 3. Jalen Hurts, QB, Eagles.

Report: Eagles hire “rising star” LSU director of player personnel - BGN
The Eagles lost some key long-time front office executives earlier this offseason. We’ve been saying that it’s important for Howie Roseman to restock the pipeline and it appears that’s what he’s aiming to do with the Tiffany hire.

Eagles rookie NFL player comparisons: iDL Ty Robinson - PhillyVoice
Robinson is a violent lineman who can play multiple spots along the interior of the defensive line. He’s powerful, with a great motor, and upside as a pass rusher (7 sacks in 2024, and 10 batted passes over the last two seasons). Here are those seven sacks. These aren’t freebies. He is smoking guys at the line of scrimmage with his power, hand-fighting, and most of all, his quickness (via @_RyanFowler_). Robinson tested very well at the Combine, as you might expect a 288-pound iDL to do. But even at a lighter weight, he was in the 92nd percentile or better in the 40 yard dash, the vertical jump, and the broad jump. He is an explosive athlete.

Final OTA Day - Iggles Blitz
Hurts started slow last season, but played really well down the stretch. If he can get off to a better start, this could be a huge year for him. He knows the offense. He has weapons all over the offense. And Hurts has won a lot of big games. His confidence has to be sky high. Hurts turns 27 in August so he’s in the prime of his career. With 66 starts under his belt, we could see the best version of Hurts in 2025.

Zack Baun is adjusting to his new standing with the Eagles as a leader and face of the defense - Inquirer
It’s a bit of an awkward transition for a self-described quiet guy who was somewhat of a cast-off when he arrived for organized team activities last summer. Leading is something Baun has to be intentional about right now. The Eagles lost big voices in Brandon Graham and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and while Jalen Carter might be the best player in Fangio’s unit, it is Baun who is the 28-year-old center of the defense. “It’s different for me because obviously I’m a quiet guy,” Baun said. “I don’t really say much. I kind of keep to myself naturally. I’m more of a lead-by-example type of guy. But as I’m feeling more comfortable connecting with the guys in the locker room, I feel way more natural talking to everyone now and really pushing that more vocal leader now.”

Bowen: You, too, can be Zack Baun, Eagles tell vets who sign prove-it deals - PHLY
Zack Baun, paragon. Baun’s extraordinary development as an off-ball linebacker fueled the Eagles’ march to the Super Bowl LIX title. Now the team wants to use his example to motivate other veterans signed to one-year, prove-it deals, as Baun was last season. Of course, the clincher in making this case is that Baun DID prove it, re-signing here for three years and $51 million, which was the organization’s most important accomplishment of the offseason, in my estimation. “With all the one-year deal guys we have now, Nick (Sirianni) mentioned my story earlier on in OTAs,” Baun told reporters Tuesday, as the Eagles ended spring work and prepared to break until the July 22 start of training camp. “I love it, because he uses me as an example to (show that if you) prove yourself, especially in this organization, this is an organization that is going to give you a shot, an honest try.”

How to train like an All-Pro NFL linebacker - PE.com
Zack Baun signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in 2024 and flourished in the team’s defense, earning All-Pro honors as well as being a finalist for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award. How does he train? Baun provides an exclusive look into his workout routine.

Answering big questions on second-year NFL quarterbacks - ESPN
There is little doubt in my mind Jayden Daniels’ rookie season was the real stuff, but it’s worth remarking that just about everything broke well for Washington. Take the deep balls to McLaurin: His 40% catch rate on downfield throws was his best since his rookie season in 2019, and his 27.6 total EPA on downfield targets more than doubled his next best. Deep passes are high-risk, high-reward plays on small samples, which means regression is likely. Also big for regression was the fourth-down success, even for as clutch as Daniels is. The Commanders converted 87% of their fourth-down attempts in the regular season (20-of-23), which is the best fourth-down season since at least 2000. Washington added 44.3 EPA on fourth-down attempts, the highest number since 2000 and a number that almost certainly will not be repeated next season. I don’t bring these up to take away from Daniels, but rather to insulate us from a C.J. Stroud-esque sophomore tumble in the national eye. Stroud was all that and a bag of chips after his rookie season, and he started his second season under the same offensive coordinator, behind the same line and throwing to the same skill players (with a couple of exciting additions in Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon). Things fell apart, as they often do in the league. Shaky offensive line talent snowballed with coordinator errors, and offensive injuries threw Stroud right into a sophomore slump, despite the film showing the same aggressive, talented passer who starred as a rookie. There are a lot of worlds where the 2025 Commanders get the same stupendous play from Daniels but look worse on offense despite the keystone pieces they return and the additions they made this offseason.

Washington Commanders Injury Update: Noah Brown carted off the field - Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders are practicing for the second day of mandatory minicamp and they’re already dealing with some injuries. Michael Gallup is dealing with a hamstring strain, and hasn’t practiced. Noah Brown has been at practice after ending last season on IR with a kidney injury. He was carted off the field after a 7-on-7 drill, and had a towel over his head as he headed inside team headquarters. He threw his helmet, and walked to the sideline before getting on the cart. There haven’t been any updates on the injury since the initial reports.

Why the Dallas Cowboys are firmly in the mix for NFC East crown - Blogging The Boys
People have forgotten just how good the Cowboys are when Dak Prescott is under center. Specifically looking at divisional games, Prescott is 9-4 against the Eagles, 11-2 against the Commanders, and 13-2 against the Giants. Prescott’s only loss to Washington during the Mike McCarthy era was an odd regular-season finale that felt like the team went through the motions, while the quarterback hasn’t lost to the Giants since his rookie year. The Cowboys have also never had a losing season when Prescott plays 12 or more games, and they usually make the playoffs when he does. They were swept by Philadelphia and split the series with Washington last year, but Prescott missed all four of those games. The bottom line is that Prescott’s return is bad news for the rest of the division, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. [BLG Note: Lol.]

Giants’ assistant GM Brandon Brown sees young, growing nucleus - Big Blue View
New York Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown gave rare insight recently into the team’s offseason decisions, offering perspective on everything from their first-round pick to the quarterback room and the plan for some of their younger players. One of the biggest moments of the draft came when the Giants used the third overall pick to select linebacker Abdul Carter out of Penn State. Brown said the choice was about more than just talent — it was also about how Carter fit into the broader vision for their defense.

Kyle Shanahan makes obvious and telling comparison when asked what Bryce Huff brings to the 49ers - Niners Nation
Shanahan and the 49ers clearly believe Huff’s explosiveness off the snap will allow him to fill that void. As Shanahan articulated, Huff’s ability to quickly put tackles in the race will benefit other teammates beyond Bosa. If Huff can consistently get tackles to turn their hips quickly by threatening to turn the corner, then that will leave them vulnerable to inside moves from him and create more space for the 49ers’ defensive tackles, as well as Mykel Williams and Yetur Gross-Matos when they rush from those spots, to impact the quarterback with their interior rush.

Joe Flacco’s rant about TikTok dances and Gen Z is peak elder millennial - SB Nation
It’s definitely a weird stage in life for Joe Flacco. The 40-year-old quarterback finds himself in a room with two rookies (Shadeur Sanders and Dillion Gabriel), as well as Kenny Pickett. There’s no doubt he’s the odd man out, and while most people might be tempted to try and fit in, Flacco instead went full dad mode at minicamp on Wednesday when it came to his opinion on TikTok dances.

The Linc - Saquon Barkley actually had some bad luck in 2024

Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/13/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

NFL’s unluckiest players: Diving into best ‘bad luck’ stats of 2024 in honor of Friday the 13th - NFL.com
SAQUON BARKLEY: The Eagles RB put up 2,000 rushing yards and earned AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors, but his stat line could have been even more outlandish. Barkley set a career-high with 13 rush touchdowns but was also tackled a league-high 11 times on the opponent’s 1-yard line in 2024. Those 11 plays occurred over nine drives (two instances of being tackled twice at the 1-yard line in the same drive) and resulted in seven Jalen Hurts rush TDs, one Hurts pass TD and one field goal. The most any other player got tackled on the 1-yard line last season was eight. Five players tied for that mark: the Cardinals’ James Conner, Panthers’ Chuba Hubbard, Lions’ David Montgomery, Buccaneers’ Bucky Irving and Commanders’ Brian Robinson.

5 questions and answers about Avery Williams - BGN
1 - Can you recap his time with the Falcons? Avery Williams had quite the career with Atlanta. He started out as a returner and cornerback, appearing in 15 games and making one start in his rookie season and piling up a couple of fumble recoveries, a pass deflection, and three quarterback hits. The team then switched him to running back, and in 2022 he had 22 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, as well as a career-best and league-best 16.2 yards per punt return. Unfortunately, a torn ACL in June 2023 cost him the entire season, and Williams didn’t look quite as explosive as a returner in 2024. He still averaged a solid 9.3 yards per punt and 27.2 yards per kick, but he had no touches on offense last season. The Falcons looked at his declining role and production as a punt returner and apparently didn’t view him as a priority re-signing.

Mailbag: Who are some off-the-radar Eagles players who could contribute in 2025? - PhillyVoice
Secondly, I’m going to volunteer Ben VanSumeren. I’m currently working on a big article that requires me to watch every offensive snap during the 2024 season, and it’s hard not to notice how good VanSumeren was in his fullback role last year. I think the Eagles are going to try to find ways for him to contribute more in 2025. (I’ll have a review of his 2024 season soon.)

Why Lane Johnson believes he can be better than ever at 35 years old - NBCSP
He turned 35 about a month ago. He’s going into his 13th NFL season. He projects as the oldest starting offensive tackle in the league in 2025. And he’ll be the 2nd-oldest offensive tackle in Eagles history, behind former teammate Jason Peters. And Lane Johnson believes he just may be better than ever. “Now, I feel like even though I’m 35, I feel better than I was when I started (or when I was) 29 or 30,” Johnson said after a recent OTA practice. “I had the (ankle) surgeries and so for me the toughest year was ’21 and you can go back and watch it, you can clearly see on film, I was very hindered with my left foot. “And now, I feel like I’m getting close to maybe my peak. As weird as it is to say, but that’s truly how I feel. Maybe they need to do a Combine for guys 10 years (in the league), see how we do compared to 10 years ago.” The notion of any other player getting close to his peak at 35 would be absurd. But when Johnson says it, you believe him.

2025 Offensive Line Rankings - FTN Fantasy
1. Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia returns four starters from 2024’s best offensive line in football. That group allowed a combined 10 sacks and 76 pressures. The Eagles need to replace their right guard after letting Mekhi Becton walk in free agency and will likely have a competition between Tyler Steen and Kenyon Green to fill the void. The Eagles added two experienced veterans to the group as depth (Kendall Lamm and Matt Pryor) and drafted three developmental rookies on the final day of the draft (Drew Kendall, Myles Hinton and Cameron Williams). If Jordan Mailata (95.8 PFF grade) and Lane Johnson (10 pressures on 451 passing plays) are around, this unit will remain the gold standard of the NFL. [BLG Note: The Washington Commanders are 18th, the New York Giants are 25th, and the Dallas Cowboys are 29th.]

Are Eagles primed for blockbuster trade? NFL insider says it’s ‘not practical’ - NJ.com
Appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic’s “Kincade and Salciunas” on Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said the likelihood of Hendrickson wearing an Eagles uniform was slim to none. “I would say no,” Schefter said. “I don’t think that’s practical. Sometimes you find opportunities that surface and you’re like ‘let’s squeeze here and if we squeeze there, we get this done.’ Knowing what I know from the past conversations with various people at various points in the offseason, I would say, no, I don’t see something like that happening.”

Rookie Q&A: 3 questions with Antwaun Powell-Ryland - PE.com
1. You’re an Eagle now. What does that mean to you? Powell-Ryland: “It means that I have a chance to fulfill a dream, and that is to play and be a great player in the NFL. It means I’m here to work and any job they give me, whether it’s rushing the passer, going out there and covering kickoffs, or making a tackle on punts, that’s what I’m here to do. I’m with a great team, a great organization, and it’s a battle every day against the best of the game. I love that challenge. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do, so this is my chance and I’m going to make the most of it.”

For years, Doug Pederson had to miss most of his son’s games. Now he’s ‘being a dad’ full-time watching him play in the UFL. - Inquirer
Their conversations aren’t always about X’s and O’s. Like his son, Doug went undrafted in 1991. And like his son, he bounced around practice squads and different leagues — including the World League of American Football (WLAF) — before he made his NFL debut in 1993. It’s allowed him to relate to Josh’s journey in a way few others could. “Josh is going down that same path,” Pederson said. “And I just told him … don’t ever lose that hope. Don’t ever lose that dream of making it to the NFL, because you never know. Injury is a part of our game and part of the sport, and it can open up an opportunity that you may not expect.“ And so we do talk about that. We have had those conversations. Just to encourage him to stay the course, keep your head down. I think it’s a great opportunity for a lot of these players to play in the UFL. They’re young players who need valuable reps.”

40 rookies are unsigned, and 30 of them are second-round picks - PFT
Seven weeks after the 2025 NFL draft began, most of the 257 draft picks have agreed to terms. As of Wednesday, 217 of the selections had signed their four-year rookie deals. Of the 40 unsigned players, 30 were taken in round two. The problem there comes from the fact that the first two players taken in the round receive fully-guaranteed contracts — an unprecedented development. It remains to be seen how deep into the round the full guarantees will go, which has kept any of the remaining second-rounders from signing. [BLG Note: Something to keep an eye on as it relates to Eagles rookie safety Andrew Mukuba, who was the last pick in the second round.]

Pictures, videos, news, and notes from the Washington Commanders Mandatory Minicamp Day 3 - Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders are in Ashburn, VA for the third, and final, day of this year’s mandatory minicamp. This will be the last time the entire team and coaching staff are together until the start of training camp next month. Noah Brown was carted off the field yesterday, but head coach Dan Quinn didn’t provide any updates on the nature and severity of the injury. Michael Gallup has been dealing with a hamstring strain and rookie WR Jaylin Lane joined him on the side field today before heading inside during practice. Sam Cosmi is rehabbing a torn ACL from the playoffs in January, and he was here my some work in outside today.

The Cowboys offensive additions could mean big things for Dak Prescott and the passing game - Blogging The Boys
And many of those great things will come from the dynamic receiving duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. The Cowboys traded a third-round pick for Pickens, and he is expected to boost the team’s passing game. On the first day of minicamp, the Prescott/Pickens chemistry was already showing as they connected several times, including a deep shot down the sideline. When you look at Prescott’s big seasons above, you’ll find quality WR2s on the roster like Amari Cooper, a healthy Michael Gallup, and a healthy Brandin Cooks. But it doesn’t stop there. The team also had contributing WR3s in those seasons. Players like Randall Cobb and Cedrick Wilson Jr. add to the mix. The Cowboys have a slew of WR3 candidates on their roster. Whether it’s Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, or KaVontae Turpin, this offense will have weapons. And it doesn’t have to be one of those guys. It could be different ones taking turns from week to week. The point is, a healthy Prescott with good protection should make this a very potent unit. Obviously, the proof is in the pudding, but it’s hard not to get excited about what this offense can do. Between better talent and better coaching, the Cowboys could end up surprising some people, and who doesn’t like surprises!

Malik Nabers still not practicing fully for Giants - Big Blue View
The toe injury is reportedly one that Nabers has dealt with dating back to his college career at LSU. “Nothing serious, but we’re being smart with him in terms of the rehab part of it,” Daboll said at the beginning or OTAs in regards to Nabers’ toe. “He’s had it for a while, back in college, too, so just trying to be smart.”

Antonio Brown to be arrested for attempted murder in Miami - SB Nation
Miami-Dade police are looking for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown after an arrest warrant was issued on Thursday night for attempted murder. The warrant stems from a shooting at a celebrity boxing event in Miami in May in which Brown originally said he was the victim of an attempted robbery and released, though new evidence appeared to show Brown was the aggressor in the altercation. Police attempted to serve Brown with the warrant on Thursday but were unable to locate him. It calls for the former receiver to post a $10,000 bond and be placed under house arrest pending trial, indicating that the courts view Brown as a potential flight risk.

Vox Media Union Reach Tentative Agreement on New Contract - WGAE
Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) members at Vox Media reached a tentative agreement with management on a new three-year collective bargaining agreement. The 250-member Vox Media Union and the WGAE Council’s Online Media sector representatives will vote to ratify the contract in the coming days. Full details of the agreement will be released upon ratification. The Vox Media Union had voted to authorize a strike if a deal was not reached by the time their current contract expired at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, on June 12, 2025. As a deal has now been reached, there will not be any pickets outside Vox Media’s office in New York. [BLG Note: Strike averted!]

5 questions and answers about Kylen Granson

NFL: Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts

Marc Lebryk-Imagn Images

Colts perspective on a tight end fighting to fit in Philly.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed two veteran free agent tight ends this offseason: Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson. After already taking a closer look at Bryant, now it’s Granson’s turn.

Let’s learn more about this addition by getting an Indianapolis Colts perspective on him. Here’s what Luke Schultheis from Stampede Blue had to say about Williams through answers to my questions.

1 - Can you recap his time with the Colts?

After being drafted in the 4th round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Colts, Kylen Granson showed some receiving flashes but could never really consistently put it all together in Indianapolis. I do think there’s some talent there, as the Philadelphia Eagles wouldn’t have signed him otherwise. That being said, too many times he’d be MIA out on the field for prolonged stretches.

2 - To what extent, if any, do you think Granson was limited by Indy’s unsteady QB play? Do you think he has potential to benefit from a change of scenery?

Yes, absolutely. It’s hard as a young receiver to find your footing in this league, when your starting quarterback is essentially changing every year. He’s played with Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger, Gardner Minshew, Anthony Richardson, and Joe Flacco during his first four seasons in the league. Maybe some added stability with Eagles starter Jalen Hurts can help him find his groove.

3 - What are his strengths?

He’s a ‘move’ receiving tight end with some scheme versatility and quickness.

4 - What are his weaknesses?

Blocking will never be his calling card, but he struggled with drops and slips last season. He didn’t have great tape by any stretch in 2024.

5 - Anything to know about him off the field?

Wouldn’t say off the field, but he’s one of the few Colts players who donned a Guardian cap last year.

BLG’s take: The Eagles will probably only keep three tight ends? Four tight ends PLUS a fullback (Ben VanSumeren) seems excessive. We know Dallas Goedert is the top option. Grant Calcaterra is arguably in pole position for TE2. It could come down to Bryant vs. Granson for the TE3 spot, then. Bryant stood out to me more in spring practices and also drew some unprompted praise from Jalen Hurts, who didn’t mention Granson. Granson saw a number of targets in the Eagles’ last spring practice and he looked capable but unspectacular. Maybe he lands on the practice squad?

The Linc - Zack Baun feels like the Eagles’ defense is “miles ahead of where we were last year at this time”

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles Minicamp

Kyle Ross-Imagn Images

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/15/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Zack Baun put up insane numbers as a high school QB, says the Eagles are ‘miles ahead of where we were last year’ - Inquirer
Following a Super Bowl season, Baun is already focused on what’s next. And the Eagles linebacker believes the team is having a better start than last year. “I’m driven internally to just be the best at whatever I’m trying to do,” Baun said. “And then obviously watching tape from last year, I had 150 tackles or whatever, but I’m like, I missed 29 of them, I could have had this. Or I dropped this, or I could have punched at the ball here. So, there’s always stuff to get better at and I think we have a lot to do as a defense too. To think that was all of our first year in that scheme. Like, what are we going to do next year? Already, I feel like we’re miles ahead of where we were last year at this time.”

Eagles Question of the Day: Who is your favorite player on the current roster? - BGN
Here’s an Eagles Question of the Day for you: Who is your favorite player on Philadelphia’s current roster?

Eagles rookie NFL player comparisons: CB Mac McWilliams - PhillyVoice
McWilliams originally enrolled at UAB, but transferred to UCF for his final season, where he welcomed the opportunity to man up against a laundry list of future NFL receivers. The player McWilliams reminds me of is D.J. Reed, an eighth-year pro who has played for the 49ers, Seahawks, Jets, and Lions. Like McWilliams, Reed is a smaller corner (5’9, 188) best known for his toughness as a tackler, and his underrated coverage abilities. Like McWilliams, Reed played in multiple schemes in college, as he had stops at Fresno State, Cerritos College, and Kansas State.

Sitting Pretty - Iggles Blitz
I think the Eagles have taken a smart approach. They aren’t looking to repeat. This will be the 2025 Eagles pursuing a title of their own. They brought back a lot of players so the team will have enough talent to win it all. They made enough changes that this team will feel different and can take the right approach to the upcoming season. In terms of injuries, the Eagles are in good shape. Nakobe Dean has the toughest situation, but he’s making progress and will be available at some point in the season. Cam Jurgens is coming back from a back injury. He should be good for camp. Ben VanSumeren is working his way back from a knee injury. That’s not bad at all for a team that played 21 games last season. As you look around the rest of the league, a lot of teams have issues to deal with. Cincy has contract issues with a couple of key players. The Steelers are trying to get acquainted with their new QB. Dallas has a new coach, a contract issue and is coming off another underwhelming offseason. Detroit had to replace both coordinators. The Vikings are relying on a first-year QB, which is a tall task for a team with big hopes. Plenty of teams have injury issues. The Packers tried to get the tush push banned, but the Eagles even managed to stop that. This has been a good offseason for the Eagles and the team is in a good spot heading into the down time before Training Camp.

In Roob’s Observations: Just how gigantic is Jalen Carter’s next contract going to be? - NBCSP
1. Here’s a question to ponder: If Milton Williams is worth $26 million per year, what is Jalen Carter worth? Scary, right? Williams is a fine interior lineman and was very good in the postseason during the Eagles’ Super Bowl run. Carter is a flat-out monster, one of the three-best defensive tackles in football and already the best in Eagles history. And on Jan. 5, when his third NFL regular season ends, he’ll be eligible for a contract extension. Two things are virtually guaranteed: 1) Howie Roseman is not going to let Carter leave, and 2) Carter next offseason will become the highest-paid interior lineman in history. Chris Jones is currently tops with an average of $31.75 million per year through 2028, and he deserves it after three straight 1st-team all-pros, six straight Pro Bowls and three Super Bowl championships. Christian Wilkins is 2nd-highest with an annual average of $27.5 million through 2026, and he’s nowhere near the player Carter is. So what is Carter worth? Accounting for his vast potential and the ever-rising salary cap, we may be looking at the first $40 million interior lineman. Crazy? Maybe. But that’s where all the numbers are pointing. Carter just turned 24. He’s only been a starter for one year, and he’s got unlimited upside. Twenty-five NFL players are currently averaging $40 million per year, 23 of them quarterbacks, plus Ja’Marr Chase ($40.3 million annual average) and Myles Garrett ($40 million). Jalen Hurts is the highest-paid Eagle ever at $51 million per year and A.J. Brown is next at $32 million per year. But Carter will sign his deal two years after them, and with each passing year as the cap goes up, contracts go up. He’s not going to make quarterback money, but Roseman will make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the game. And if he doesn’t quite reach $40 million per year, he’s going to be at or above Nick Bosa / Maxx Crosby / Danielle Hunter range, which is between $34 and $36 million per year. I’m thinking $37 or $38 million per year minimum. Carter is one of the best defensive players in football and he’s about to get paid for it.

Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts Marries Bryonna ‘Bry’ Burrows Again in a 2nd Wedding Ceremony - People
Jalen Hurts and Bryonna “Bry” Burrows said “I do” a second time! The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, 26, and Burrows married in Napa Valley, Calif., on Saturday, June 14, Page Six reported. Hurts and Burrows shut down the entire Four Seasons hotel in the area from Thursday, June 12, to Sunday, June 15, according to the outlet. A dinner was held on June 12, and a barn party was held the following day on Friday, June 13. The couple’s wedding ceremony then set the weekend into high gear on June 14. Page Six reported that Stevie Wonder was in attendance.

Where Are They Now? TE Clay Harbor - PE.com
Far from being an old grandpa, Harbor is single and still searching for the right bachelorette. Making his home in Chicago, he’s involved with sports media, working with NBC Sports Chicago, Stadium TV, 670 The Score, Big Brand, and doing color commentary for the Missouri Valley Football Conference on the Marquee Sports Network. “It’s been great being able to live that dream,” Harbor said. “I just continue to expand on my sports media career. As well as speaking. I’ll have a couple of speaking engagements a month and just kind of tell my story about basically coming from being underprivileged to this guy that was able to make the NFL from a small town, a small college. And how discipline is really the most important thing in your life. Not so much talent, so to speak, and that grit will overcome talent in the end. If you just stay consistent, you will achieve what you want to achieve.” Speaking of which, Harbor is also working toward his goal of earning an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

6 Cowboys players who could surprise people this season - Blogging The Boys
RT Terence Steele. Steele is everyone’s favorite player to hate. Since returning from his bad knee injury at the end of the 2022 season, he just hasn’t been the same player. Prior to that, he was on the up and up and was looking at Pro Bowl level. With another year removed from injury, the new offensive line coaches, and some added muscle next to him, we could see Steele return to form in 2025. [BLG Note: Steele is gonna get worked.]

Ex-Giant Darren Waller decided he would retire during the middle of a game - Big Blue View
Darren Waller made the New York Giants wait ... and wait ... and wait some more for a final decision on whether or not he would retire before the 2024 season. With speculation he was considering retiring running rampant the entire offseason, Waller did not give the team his decision to leave the NFL until early June. Waller, though, has now admitted that he knew fairly early in the 2023 season that he was done as an NFL player. In fact, he made his decision in the middle of a Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Patriots LB Christian Elliss continues push for starting role - ESPN
1. Elliss’ time: When the Patriots held their final spring practice on Tuesday, with the defense buzzing as music blared and the offense worked with a silent snap count, linebacker Christian Elliss was at the heart of the action. Elliss aligned next to big-money free agent signing Robert Spillane with the top unit — a reminder of how far he’s come, and how this offseason has been transcendent for him and his growing family. “Humbling, especially,” the 26-year-old Elliss said in a quiet moment as minicamp concluded. “My entire life, especially my football career, it’s been a fight to get to where I’m at, and to get on the field.” Whether Elliss remains in that spot will be among the team’s top competitions when training camp begins July 23, with veterans Jahlani Tavai and Jack Gibbens among those vying for the role.

Caleb Williams tried to do too much as a rookie. The Bears’ new coach can fix that - SB Nation
On the ground, I think the Bears are going to be more outside zone-based than any other run concept. Detroit ran outside zone more than any other team in the NFL last season per Sports Information Solutions (SIS), but their run game pulls from so many different disciplines. The Bears’ offensive line might be built to do more outside zone blocking, which will really help set up the play action and bootlegs off of that for Williams. Most importantly, I think this offense is going to lean into what Williams does well right now, then build on the areas where he lacks throughout the season. We saw young QBs like Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix excel when they were asked to do what they’re best at, while their respective coordinators sprinkled in more masters-level QB’ing as the season went on. Expect that for Williams, who should now have more communication in his kitchen, allowing him to cook freely.

SOME VERY IMPORTANT THOUGHTS

  • Trivia question answers: 1) The Commanders have the most former Eagles. 2) The Packers, Ravens, Panthers, Jets, Bills, and Dolphins have zero former Eagles.
  • Last year around this time, only one team didn’t have a former Eagle.
  • The AFC North led the NFL in former Eagles players in June 2023. The NFC North led the league in former Eagles players in June 2024. Now the AFC North, NFC North, and AFC West are all tied for the lead with 13 each.
  • Last year around this time, the AFC West only had nine former Eagles.
  • The AFC East always used to be full with former Eagles but now they’re in dead last with just five in the entire division ... and all of them on the Patriots. The Jets could certainly be less friendly to former Eagles now that Joe Douglas is no longer their general manager.
  • I put an asterisk (*) next to the 14 teams the Eagles will play this season.
  • Kind of annoying that Ertz, an Eagles legend, is finishing his career with a division rival. Happy for him that he rebounded in 2024 but would’ve been preferable to see him leave the NFC East again.
  • The Eagles and Chiefs clearly have a similar type in backup QBs. Minshew joins the likes of Wentz, Nick Foles, and Chase Daniel.
  • I will never not believe in Deontay Burnett or DeAndre Carter.
  • Who’s one obscure player you’d like to have back?
  • Eagles fans seem to like to clown on Reddick given how poorly 2024 went for him and how he skipped the Bucs’ OTAs. I think Reddick will rebound this season. Wish the Eagles had found a way to make it work with him instead of pivoting to Bryce Huff, who clearly didn’t pan out in Philly.
  • If the Eagles could reacquire one former Eagles player that’s currently under contract, who would you pick? Keeping Milton Williams would’ve been ideal if money wasn’t an issue, which it obviously was. The Eagles arguably should’ve made more of an effort to retain Burks, given his affordability and their linebacker injuries. There’s a case to be made for CJGJ, of course.
  • If the Eagles could reacquire one former player who left prior to the 2025 offseason, who would you pick?
  • Miles Sanders might actually be the Cowboys’ lead back in 2025?
  • Brett Boyko is still keeping his professional football career alive after originally signing with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015.
  • I feel like Josh Blackwell deserves a shout here since he was considered to be a long shot as an Eagles UDFA signing in 2022. They actually cut him when their roster was required to be down to 80 players and quickly brought him back to eat up snaps in the preseason finale. He was claimed by the Chicago Bears and has since logged 256 defensive snaps and 709 special teams snaps in 43 games played over the past three years. The Bears signed Blackwell to a two-year, $5 million contract earlier this year. Relative to very low expectations, that’s already a really nice career outcome for a UDFA signing out of Duke.
  • Luis Perez led the UFL in passing yards. Ajene Harris led the UFL in interceptions. Deon Cain ranked third among UFL players in receiving yards.

The Linc - Dallas Goedert credits Jalen Hurts for making him feel valued

NFC Wild Card Playoffs: Green Bay Packers v Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 6/18/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Dallas Goedert feeling comfortable in his own skin as Jalen Hurts makes the Eagles tight end feel valued - Inquirer
In the aftermath of the Super Bowl, Dallas Goedert didn’t know if he had a future in Philadelphia. But he knew he had a vote of confidence from Jalen Hurts. The 30-year-old tight end spent the first couple months of the offseason in contract negotiations with the Eagles, as the impending final year of his deal contained no guaranteed money. Goedert called the uncertainty “stressful” and chose to spend time around friends and family in his hometown, Britton, S.D. He also received moral support from his quarterback. Goedert said that Hurts reached out to him and offered him words of validation while his future as an Eagle hung in the balance. “He didn’t really recruit me back, but he made me feel like I was an important part of the team,” Goedert told The Inquirer on Tuesday. “I was important to him, and that was obviously a really good feeling.”

The Relationship Eagles’ Dallas Goedert Didn’t Want to Walk Away From - SI
Part of that feeling contributing to Goedert’s return that hasn’t gotten much publicity is his position coach, Jason Michael, one of the better tight end mentors in the NFL, and someone Goedert has grown close to since Michael arrived with head coach Nick Sirianni in 2021. “I feel like he’s had a really big impact in my career,” Goedert told Eagles On SI on Tuesday when asked about Michael. “He came the start of my fourth year, and he gave me a lot of confidence in myself. He asked me a lot of questions of why I was doing stuff, why I wasn’t doing stuff. And then over the last four years, we’ve been able to grow a lot but he’s definitely helped me improve as a tight end, improve as a person.

Is Philadelphia capable of appreciating a team as good as the Eagles? - BGN
This is why we make lists. It’s why we rank players. It’s why there is needless debate over where Jalen Hurts ranks among Philly athletes and/or NFL QBs. All our lives we dreamed of having a star QB good enough to play his best when it mattered most. Ron Jaworski couldn’t do it. Randall Cunningham couldn’t, either. Neither could Donovan McNabb or Wentz. Eagles fans now have what we’ve always wanted. Our wishes were granted. So why do we feel the need to argue about the level of greatness of the unquestioned franchise quarterback? It’s possible we may be incapable of appreciating a team as great as the Eagles.

Eagles rookie NFL player comparisons: C Drew Kendall - PhillyVoice
Like Kendall, Dalman is the son of a former NFL offensive lineman. His dad Chris played center and guard for the 49ers for eight seasons during the 1990’s. Coming out of Stanford, Dalman was considered an undersized-but-cerebral player. His scouting report from 2021 sounds a lot like Kendall’s.

Eagles 2025 most important list: Jahan Dotson - NBCSP
Late last summer, Eagles GM Howie Roseman realized the Eagles needed a legitimate No. 3 receiver and pulled off a trade to bring in Dotson from Washington. But it was already August and that didn’t leave Dotson a ton of time to work with Jalen Hurts and get integrated into the offense. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Hurts during his time as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, it’s that he needs to be able to fully trust his receivers. On top of that, the Eagles ran the ball more than any other team in the NFL in 2024. And when they did pass the ball, it was obviously going to A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert first. That didn’t leave much left for Dotson. In fact, based on the numbers, Dotson was the least productive receiver in the NFL last season. Dotson played 674 offensive snaps in the 2024 regular season and had just 19 catches for 216 yards. There were 67 receivers in the NFL last season who played at least 600 snaps and Dotson ranked dead last among them in receptions and yards.

Rookie Q&A: 3 questions with Kyle McCord - PE.com
What are you most looking forward to? McCord: “I think first game at the Linc. I grew up going to games as a fan, so to be out there playing, performing, in front of the people I sat with and cheered with, that’s going to be pretty surreal. The whole thing since the draft has felt that way and it has taken some time to settle in, but now it’s just football. The best of the best. I love every bit of this and to go out there and have a chance to play and show what I can do in the stadium I grew up going to and rooting for the Eagles, that is going to be so much fun.”

AFC East vs. NFC East? North vs. North? Let’s pick the NFL’s toughest divisions - SB Nation
RJ OCHOA: To be clear for the sake of context, I cover the Dallas Cowboys around here so I am pretty biased in that sense. That being said I do think that this discussion is one of the more interesting because it features the division with the reigning Super Bowl Champions in the Philadelphia Eagles facing off against the one with the league MVP in Josh Allen. Interestingly, the NFC East has a quarterback and wide receiver who have had a lot of success before. Jalen Hurts and CeeDee Lamb starred together in college with the Oklahoma Sooners so we know that team chemistry will already be rather strong. What’s more is that the NFC East side will have Howie Roseman. While Allen is one of the absolute best quarterbacks in the entire league, maybe the best individual player across all eight East teams, the reality is that the lack of things around him across the AFC East is really weighing him down. I have to give this one to the NFC side.

2024 REWIND - Week 12 - Special Teams debacles lead to Commanders stunning home loss to Cowboys - Hogs Haven
Every division game matters, but Cowboys fans seemed to have a sense of fatalism coming into this game, while Commanders fans seemed to be entering with a sense of positive inevitability despite consecutive losses to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in Weeks 10 and 11. The Cowboys season was practically, if not mathematically, over, and the attention of the Dallas fan base had turned to who would be coaching the team next season, which veterans would be re-signed, and what should happen in the draft. Unfortunately for Commanders fans, the Cowboys players and coaches were still focused on trying to add wins to the team’s record.

Giants work out 4 players at mandatory minicamp - Big Blue View
The New York Giants, perhaps looking to tweak their 90-man roster heading into training camp, worked out four players on Tuesday during their mandatory minicamp practice. Safeties K’Von Wallace and Millard Bradford, outside linebacker Kenny Dyson, and guard Carter O’Donnell joined the players on the 90-man roster for Tuesday’s workout. Wallace is the most recognizable name. A 2020 fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, Wallace has played for the Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks in five NFL seasons.

Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart draws praise: ‘Fit right in’ - ESPN
The early returns from the New York Giants on rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart have been positive this spring. Dart, the 25th pick in this year’s draft, again worked primarily with the second-team offense behind Russell Wilson and ahead of Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. He fired a touchdown pass deep down the right sideline on his final rep of minicamp practice Tuesday. With a light practice scheduled for Wednesday it could perhaps be his final pass before the start of training camp this summer. “He’s done excellent picking up information,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said beforehand. “It’s really good to have Russ and Jameis and even Tommy because Tommy has been in this system for a few years here. Kind of the head statesman in terms of that with all the adjustments that take place and the calls. He’s fit right in with those guys. He’s smart, aggressive with the football, which I like. And then the true test will be once we start with live hitting and preseason games and things like that. He’s progressed since he’s been here. ... He’s made improvement.”

Giants O-line coach: Evan Neal ‘doing well so far’ in transition from tackle to guard - NFL.com
The New York Giants’ plan to move former first-round pick Evan Neal to guard is going as well as can be expected through offseason workouts. “He’s picked up things well inside,” coach Brian Daboll said on Tuesday at minicamp. “You know, training camp will be an important time of the year for him as for all the offensive linemen.” The former No. 7 overall pick in 2022 struggled mightily at right tackle his first two seasons, and only injuries thrust him into the starting lineup in 2024 after a benching to open the season.

Broncos agree to terms with UFL CB Mario Goodrich - PFT
The Broncos have agreed to terms with UFL cornerback Mario Goodrich, James Larsen of UFL Newsroom reports. Goodrich played seven games for the Birmingham Stallions, including one in the postseason, and totaled 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles. [BLG Note: Former Eagles UDFA signing.]

14 winners from the Eagles’ spring practices

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles Minicamp

Kyle Ross-Imagn Images

Stock report from OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially wrapped up their spring offseason workout program last week. Now let’s take a look at the winners, losers, and I don’t knows that stood out from three media-attended practices (two days of voluntary OTAs and one mandatory minicamp session).

Disclaimer: These were non-contact drills (no pads) and three practices is a pretty small sample size. There’s still plenty of time for players to change their outlook — for better or worse — over the course of training camp and preseason games.

WINNERS

QB JALEN HURTS

The reigning Super Bowl MVP turned in a strong spring. Hurts was accurate and decisive; he had very few incompletions and he didn’t take too many “sacks.” Getting rid of the ball quickly mostly resulted in shorter completions, though he did have one highlight deep completion for a touchdown. Hurts seems to be getting better in practice settings from where he was earlier in his career. He rarely — if ever — puts the ball in harm’s way.

CB COOPER DEJEAN

The Eagles clearly want DeJean on the field for 100% of their defensive snaps. This spring, he was the starting outside cornerback opposite from Quinyon Mitchell in Philly’s base defense. Vic Fangio even talked about him potentially playing safety, though he took zero snaps there during media-attendance practices. The expectation here is that DeJean will mostly serve as the Eagles’ nickel cornerback. And when he’s not playing in the slot, he’ll still be on the field in some other capacity.

CB KELEE RINGO

Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson rotated starting cornerback reps in the Eagles’ nickel defense. Of the two, Ringo shone more brightly. The third-year defender broke up multiple passes and looked pretty sticky in coverage. Ringo also seems to be emerging as a leader in his position room considering he led the huddle before a DB drill. There’s still going to be a training camp battle but Ringo appears to be the front-runner.

QB TANNER MCKEE

As QB3 over the past two years, McKee’s practice reps were pretty limited. And he was often throwing to players who wouldn’t even make the roster. Now elevated to QB2, McKee benefits from more practice time and better targets to work with. McKee took advantage of his upgraded situation this spring by looking pretty good for backup quarterback standards. As was the case with Hurts, McKee rarely threw incompletions or put the ball in harm’s way.

QB KYLE MCCORD

At the very least, McCord showed that he’s not flat out unplayable like previous Eagles rookie quarterbacks (see: Clayton Thorson, Carson Strong). Even better, McCord completed some difficult throws into traffic that make one believe he might be able to develop into a backup quarterback. We’ll see how the preseason games go but McCord is currently in good position to beat out Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the QB3 role.

RB WILL SHIPLEY

Shipley saw a lot of targets during spring practices and he looked like an effective pass-catcher out of the backfield. He’s obviously not overtaking the Eagles’ top targets in the pecking order but I do think he could be more of a factor in the passing attack than Kenny Gainwell was last year. Of course, that’s a low bar to clear since Gainwell saw just 25 targets in 21 games played.

WR TERRACE MARSHALL

The Terrace Marshall signing didn’t exactly generate a lot of excitement at the time of it happening but maybe he has a place on this roster. Marshall had some standout moments during spring practices, including when he took a slant to the house. When specifically asked about developing chemistry with Jahan Dotson, Hurts gave this answer (bold emphasis mine):

“I think that time has been valuable. It’s been valuable working with Jahan [Dotson], working with Terrace Marshall — he made a lot of big plays this offseason —, Dallas [Goedert], Grant [Calcaterra], Harrison [Bryant]. Everyone — Saquon [Barkley] out there. Everyone who was able to go and available, working with them and taking advantage of that, that was big.

Seems like a good sign for Marshall.

Is he going to beat Dotson out for WR3? I don’t know about that. And it’s not ideal if he’s a WR4 who doesn’t contribute on special teams, where he’s played 14 career snaps over four years. Dotson also hasn’t been a special teams guy with just six snaps played over three years.

Perhaps Marshall takes on the role that Parris Campbell had last year as a depth receiver who bounces between the roster and practice squad. Not exactly the most thrilling proposition but Marshall’s stock is higher leaving OTAs than it was entering them.

WR DANNY GRAY

Prior to OTAs, I included Gray on my Eagles 53-man roster projection. Here’s what I wrote:

Who is Danny Gray, you might ask? Well, the 2022 third-round pick is a burner with 4.33 speed who might be worth paying attention to. In a survey conducted by PHLY’s Zach Berman, multiple starting defenders (Darius Slay, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Cooper DeJean, and Reed Blankenship) shouted out Gray as a standout from last year’s practice squad.

Gray went on to have a pretty active spring; he was frequently targeted by McKee. I can see how he caught the attention of multiple Eagles defensive backs. Gray doesn’t benefit from Marshall also standing out since they could be competing for the same roster spot. But Gray definitely seems worth paying attention to this summer. It’ll be interesting to see if he can continue to shine in training camp and the preseason games.

EDGE JALYX HUNT

Playing as a rookie, Hunt’s hustle really stood out to me. He would pop up even when I wasn’t paying attention to him. That much only continued in spring practices. He was just everywhere out there. Hunt was especially disruptive in the Eagles’ final spring practice where he was often in the backfield. Hunt could be ready to make a significant leap from Year 1 to Year 2.

RG TYLER STEEN

Steen isn’t yet a lock to be the Eagles’ Week 1 starting right guard. He entered last year’s training camp as the favorite for that role before he got hurt and Mekhi Becton replaced him. Can’t rule out that he gets overtaken again this year. For now, though, Steen seems to be in a good position. He took all the first-team right guard reps; he didn’t rotate with anybody else.

RG MATT PRYOR

If anyone’s going to overtake Steen, it could be Pryor. He was consistently the second-team right guard. And not Kenyon Green, who was originally believed to be Steen’s top competitor for the starting RG role.

LB JEREMIAH TROTTER JR.

Spoiler alert: Jihaad Campbell and Nakobe Dean will show up in the “losers” from spring practices due to their injury issues. Fangio said Campbell won’t be able to practice until August and Dean “won’t be back for a while.” In their absence, Trot Jr. took all the first-team reps next to Zack Baun. That’s noteworthy since the Eagles were more heavily rotating at other positions, such as cornerback and safety. Trot Jr. figures to eventually be replaced in the starting lineup but he could get a chance to show what he’s got early in the season.

TE NICK MUSE

Muse is a long shot to make the roster. He’s currently the sixth tight end (at best) on the Eagles’ depth chart. But he sure showed some pass-catching ability by making some high degree of difficult grabs. One of them was a contested catch in traffic for a touchdown. Another was a diving effort on a ball that McCord put a little too much mustard on. We’ll see if Muse can keep it going when the pads come on.

S ANDREW MUKUBA

Mukuba isn’t a winner because he had a real flashy spring. He was relatively quiet. But the fact that he was splitting first-team safety reps as a rookie seems like a good sign for him. It’s not uncommon for players in his position to be with the second-team defense before eventually earning time with the starters in training camp. It could be a matter of time before Mukuba overtakes Sydney Brown on the depth chart.

9 losers from the Eagles’ spring practices

Philadelphia Eagles Offseason Workout

Stock report from OTAs and mandatory minicamp (Part 2 of 3).

LOSERS

QB DORIAN THOMPSON-ROBINSON

DTR was the worst quarterback from the Eagles’ spring practices. It’s not like he was absolutely awful; it’s just that everyone else was clearly better ... including his top competition for the QB3 role, rookie Kyle McCord. In fairness to DTR, it’s not like his mobility is maximized in a practice setting. He might be able to shine a bit more in preseason games. For now, though, it looks like he’s the odd man out in the quarterback room.

WR AVERY WILLIAMS

Speaking at the NFL owners meetings, Nick Sirianni went out of his way to talk about how he’s intrigued by Williams. As it currently stands, Williams projects to be the team’s top kick returner and top punt returner. But he missed spring practices due to an undisclosed injury. And Williams has had some durability issues in the past. Not the best first impression to make. He needs to get healthy for training camp.

WR JOHNNY WILSON

Wilson wasn’t present for the Eagles’ media-attended voluntary OTA practices. He wasn’t an active target when he showed up for the team’s mandatory minicamp. None of this means Wilson can’t make a leap from Year 1 to Year 2 but, so far, it’s not trending in the right direction. Especially when other wide receivers — like Terrace Marshall and Danny Gray — are outshining the 2024 draft pick.

S SYDNEY BROWN

The good news for Brown is that he’s the first man up at first-team safety next to Reed Blankenship. He has an opportunity to win that job. The bad news is that Brown had some struggles in coverage during spring practices. He’s also splitting his first-team reps with rookie Andrew Mukuba and others. I think Eagles fans seem to be higher on Brown than Vic Fangio is.

S LEWIS CINE

There’s intrigue to be had with Cine considering he’s a former first-round pick who went to Georgia. But he was behind at least five other safeties — including 2024 undrafted signing Andre’ Sam — in spring practices.

RB SHUNDERRICK POWELL

Not good to be fumbling during non-contact practices.

CB TARIQ CASTRO-FIELDS

I wrote down TCF’s number in my notes a lot this spring. And not because he was making plays ... but rather because he was allowing them.

OL BRETT TOTH

With Cam Jurgens still recovering from offseason back surgery, Toth was the Eagles’ first-team center. He struggled to snap the ball effectively to the point where it ruined multiple reps for the offense. Toth had this same exact issue two years ago, which led to the Eagles re-signing Josh Andrews just to have a center who could properly snap the ball in practice. Jurgens is expected to be ready for training camp, so, that’s good. Still, it’s time to end the Toth at center experiment. It’s just not working. Drew Kendall should be getting his center reps.

OG KENYON GREEN

Entering OTAs, there was thought that Green and Tyler Steen were competing for the starting right guard spot. Steen then took all the first-team RG reps while Green lined up at left guard with the second-team and third-team offensive lines. There’s a higher chance of Green not making the roster than there is of him winning a starting job this season.

The Linc - List of NFL bold predictions has the Eagles breaking one of longest-running streaks in the league

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Way-too-early bold predictions for 2025 NFL season: Bills win Super Bowl; Ashton Jeanty hits 2,000 yards - NFL.com
3) The Eagles will be the first team to repeat as NFC East champs in 21 years. We know this is one of the longest-running streaks in the league, but it’s time for it to end. That’s how good Philadelphia is going to be this coming season. As much as the Eagles have to fill in some holes left by key offseason departures — the defense, in particular, lost five key veterans — the core of the defending Super Bowl champions remains very much intact. Even with Kevin Patullo succeeding Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator, that side of the football remains stacked. Running back Saquon Barkley is coming off a 2,000-yard season, quarterback Jalen Hurts proved once again that he’s one of the most underrated leaders in the game and the receivers and offensive line still rank among the best in the league. As for the defense, coordinator Vic Fangio will help some new faces mature while an assortment of stars (including defensive tackle Jalen Carter, All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun and second-year defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean) should once again rank among the best in the business. Look, this team won 16 of its last 17 games last season and pounded Kansas City in the Super Bowl. Just as importantly, a good number players were around for that epic meltdown in the second half of the 2023 season. They surely learned a lot of about the challenges of success and how hard it is to stay on top, which will come in handy this fall.

9 losers from the Eagles’ spring practices - BGN
S SYDNEY BROWN: The good news for Brown is that he’s the first man up at first-team safety next to Reed Blankenship. He has an opportunity to win that job. The bad news is that Brown had some struggles in coverage during spring practices. He’s also splitting his first-team reps with rookie Andrew Mukuba and others. I think Eagles fans seem to be higher on Brown than Vic Fangio is.

A look at the Eagles’ players over 30, and their succession plan for each - PhillyVoice
Dallas Goedert succession plan: In the 2025 draft, the Eagles made 10 selections, and surprisingly, none of them were tight ends, despite it being one of the strongest tight end classes in recent memory. They did sign a pair of veteran tight ends in free agency in Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson. They are also returning TE2 Grant Calcaterra, a decent enough receiver, but a poor blocker. Calcaterra is playing on the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. The Eagles could conceivably re-sign Goedert to a new deal next offseason if he is productive and stays reasonably healthy. We’ll see. Otherwise, they will very likely be in the market for a new tight end. 2026 urgency level: 7/10 scaredy faces.

Coulda Shoulda Woulda - Iggles Blitz
We can go play the What If game with a lot of Eagles seasons. What if TO didn’t get hurt in 2004? That injury affected the 2004 season and also future years. What if Brian Westbrook didn’t get hurt in 2003? The Eagles offense only put up three points in the NFC title game. With Westbrook as a key part of the lineup, the Eagles were a Top 10 scoring team during the season. What if Alshon Jeffrey didn’t drop the pass in 2018 against the Saints? What if the fumble didn’t get overturned in 1990? What if Correll Buckhalter didn’t get hurt in 2001? I’ve gone through all of this to help you appreciate what the 2024 Eagles did. When they had a chance for greatness, they took advantage of it. They won the Super Bowl. They carved out their piece of NFL history. Saquon Barkley had one of the greatest seasons by a RB in football history. I could throw a bunch of numbers at you, but you’d probably rather watch this video.

Eagles 2025 most important list: Tyler Steen - NBCSP
Let’s see if Tyler Steen can keep his job this year. Based on spring practices, it appears that Steen is ahead in the race to be the Eagles’ starting right guard in 2025. Of course, that looked like the case last year too. In 2024, Steen got the first-team reps in spring practices but when he suffered a minor ankle injury early in training camp, he was replaced by Mekhi Becton, who ended up starting the entire season between Cam Jurgens and Lane Johnson. But Becton left in free agency to join the Los Angeles Chargers so that right guard spot is again up for grabs. And Steen is again getting the first crack at it. “Steen has developed a lot,” Johnson said this spring. “I think when you look at him, he’s just a physically gifted dude, man. He’s a lot stronger than what he was when he first arrived. I think his playing strength is starting to show. I know he’s ready for camp to start. He’s just been putting in work. You’ve seen traits of him where he can be a dominating player so now it’s just about trying to do it every play.”

Rookie Q&A: 3 questions with Smael Mondon - PE.com
2. What do you think will be your biggest transition to the NFL? Mondon: “Being in the present. It’s me here. Whatever I do, it’s my responsibility. I am here to win a job and help this team win as many games as possible. It’s different than in college, where you have a scholarship and you’re there. There is nothing guaranteed for me here. It’s a cut-throat business. You’ve got to be on point every minute of the day. You can’t let down. My Georgia guys, when we’ve talked in the past and now, that’s a message: Be on point. You are being watched at all times.”

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback opens tavern at Middletown-area golf club - Delaware Online
The company led by former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski hopes to score with a new tavern at his golf course near Middletown. Because Jaworski wore the No. 7 jersey with the Eagles, the new venue is called 7 Tap-Tavern at Back Creek Golf Club, 101 Back Creek Drive, off of Churchtown Road north of Middletown.

The Eagles owner was training for WWII when his team merged with the Steelers on this week in Philly history - Inquirer
The Eagles GM would call Thompson at the Army camp, at least once or twice a day, to help facilitate the delicate negotiation. Thompson had a few demands: This merged team would be called simply the Eagles, the uniforms would be kelly green and white, and they would still play a majority of the home games in Philly. He agreed to splitting expenses and any meager profits. And on June 19, 1943, the owners voted to adopt the merger, giving birth to a Frankenstein team fans later nicknamed “the Steagles.” But it only lasted one season. The Steelers would merge with the Cardinals the following year, but got back on their feet by the end of war. And Thompson returned home as a captain.

The 5 O’Clock Club: Why did average attendance at Commanders home games drop from 2023 to 2024? - Hogs Haven
Opposing fans: We know the Eagles fans have made a habit of showing up and largely ‘taking over’ Washington’s home stadium in recent years. A lot of the fans who contributed to the string of 2023 sellouts were rooting for the opposing team, especially the Bills Mafia. Cowboys fans were a lot more motivated for the Week 18 game in ‘23 than they were for that Week 12 game in ‘24. Basically, there wasn’t much danger, last season, of Cleveland, Carolina or Tennessee fans ‘taking over’ Northwest Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys offensive ranking feels way too low, defensive ranking is debatable - Blogging The Boys
PFN ranking the Cowboys offense 23rd out of 32 NFL teams feels very low. They did cover themselves by saying a “top-10 grade isn’t out of the question”, but still decided to rank them in the bottom third of the league nonetheless. This just seems way too low for a Cowboys offense that will feature one of the best WR duo’s in the entire league. Sure there are other questions about the offense, but Dallas covered their bases pretty well. They drafted the best guard in the 2025 draft class to replace Zack Martin and put together a solid RB committee, arguably upgrading the unit. [BLG Note: The feeling here is that Cowboys fans are really glossing over their bad offensive line.]

When will Jaxson Dart start? ‘Pretty darn early,’ says NFL insider - Big Blue View

He’s invested in him, and he seems to really, really like him ... it sounds a little different the way he’s talking about him To me that makes it sound like, hey, this isn’t something that this is a redshirt year for him as they hand the ball to Russell Wilson for a full season. I think we’re gonna see a lot of Jaxson Dart this year.”

The NFL’s defensive evolution is all about speed to power - SB Nation
We can all picture it. It’s Week 12, and the Philadelphia Eagles are playing the Los Angeles Rams. Jalen Hurts goes to pass, but somehow, someone has felled the mighty Jordan Mailata at left tackle. All 6’8, 365 pounds of Mailata was put on his butt as Hurts escaped the pocket. Rookie Rams’ EDGE Jared Verse took three steps, put his hands into Mailata’s chest pad and knocked him on his ass.
