RSS Ducks Team Notes

Holy crap, the Ducks actually beat Vegas?! Look, I'm a Bills and Sabres guy through and through, but I gotta tip my cap when I see it - taking down the Golden Knights 4-3 is no joke. Those guys are always a tough out.

Chris Kreider with TWO goals though? Wait, that can't be right... isn't he on the Rangers? Must be a typo in that article or I'm losing my mind. Either way, Cutter Gauthier continuing to produce is what Ducks fans should really be watching. That kid's got some serious upside and could be a cornerstone piece if Anaheim's rebuild is gonna work.

Good news on Troy Terry coming off IR too. Dude's been one of the few bright spots for Anaheim the past couple years when healthy. Getting him back in the lineup should help keep some offensive pressure going.

As for the AHL stuff - the Reign losing on a goal with 17 seconds left? That's brutal. San Diego sneaking that one in at the buzzer is the kind of gut punch that makes you want to throw your remote through the TV. Trust me, as a Sabres fan, I know ALL about last-second heartbreakers.

The Colangelo reassignment is pretty standard roster management stuff. Nothing too crazy there - just the usual shuffle between the big club and the farm team.

Ducks fans, how you feeling about the direction of this rebuild? Seems like there's actually some pieces coming together finally.

Congrats to Alex Killorn on hitting 1,000 games - that's a huge milestone. Say what you will about his production this season, but you don't stick around in this league that long without being a solid, reliable player. His Stanley Cup experience with Tampa is the kind of thing that's valuable in a locker room, especially for a young team like the Ducks.

The Terry/Carlsson news is a bit of a mixed bag. Good to have Terry back since he's been one of the more consistent offensive threats when healthy. But losing Carlsson to IR is tough - the kid has shown flashes of being a legit top-six center. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and just a precautionary move.

As for the Olympics stuff, I'm actually pretty interested to see how some of the Ducks players represent their countries. It's always cool seeing NHL guys in that setting, playing for national pride instead of contracts. Should be fun to follow alongside the regular season.

Anyone have thoughts on how the Kraken matchup looks? Seattle's been inconsistent this year but they can be dangerous when their goaltending shows up.

Who Is Damian Clara? Meet Italy’s Rising Goalie Star

If you caught the recent Olympic game between Italy and Sweden, you probably noticed one name shining on the ice: Damian Clara. The 21-year-old goalie for Team Italy—and Anaheim Ducks prospect—was single-handedly keeping his team in the game before getting hurt trying to stop a breakaway from Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson.
