LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he hopes that Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is successful in appealing his positive test for a banned substance, but that it would "make sense" to revote on the MVP award, or strip Braun of the award if it is found that he indeed used a banned substance.

"In the end, I hope the appeal it's something that was a mistake. I don't want to see anything bad come out of it for him," Mattingly said.

When asked if a player who tested positive for a banned substance should be stripped of the MVP award, Mattingly answered, "I don't know. It makes sense though, a little bit. It's not 10 years later, it's a month later."

Just thought I'd share this.

Apparently, Don Mattingly thinks that awards should be taken away from players who test positive for a banned substance.

What is your opinion on this subject? Should "juicers" get their trophies taken away if they are caught?

Personally, I think the awards should be taken away.
At least awards won during the season of the failed drug test.

Yeah, if they can prove they took steroids the year they won whatever award, I think it should be taken away, but if they were to find out years later, and not know for certain what years the player did or didn't take them, I don't think awards should be taken away.

Yeah, this is where it gets sticky.
If a player is tested positive, are all their career records/stats valid? Are any of them valid?

This is why I think they should just use the death penalty. Nobody ever listens to me!

Now MD, I know you don't like it, and neither do I, but killing is not the answer.

Yeah it should be taken away. I don't really think they should go back and find out who the real winner was that year, because that just complicates things and just makes it weird. So if they prove that Braun tested positive, they should take his MVP away.
