The parallels between Tua and Tannehill – The Splash Zone 2/6/26

gettyimages-1592291534.jpg

new_splash_zone.jpg

It sort of feels like deja vu with the Miami Dolphins quarterback situation. Back in 2019, the Dolphins traded away Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans as Miami began to enter a transition period. The Dolphins enter this offseason with plenty of questions surrounding Tua Tagovailoa. The quarterback is owed quite a bit of money, but if the team decided to release or trade him their would be some salary cap difficulties. But it became clear this season that Tua just wasn’t it and was benched in favor for a seventh round rookie in Quinn Ewers. Whatever the Dolphins decide, this appears to be the end of Tua in Miami and his exit is going to be so similar to Tannehill’s all those years ago.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Dan Marino may know a few things about being a great quarterback in the NFL. So when he talks about the Miami Dolphins quarterback spot, maybe we should listen. It’s no secret that there will probably be a change at the Dolphins QB position this offseason. All signs point to Tua Tagovailoa being on the way out, but who knows who will replace him. Whether Tua is on the Dolphins roster, Marino says there needs to be competition at the position. Competition at any position should make players better themselves, so it will be interesting to see how the new front office handles the quarterback position in the coming months.

Super Bowl 2027 odds: Dolphins define longshot for next championship

Super Bowl LX has just ended, with the Seattle Seahawks still celebrating their championship, but the odds for 2027’s Super Bowl LXI are already out – and they is not pretty for Miami Dolphins fans. The Seahawks are the favorite to win next year’s title, opening at +750 according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Los Angeles Rams are just behind them at +800.

The top AFC teams are the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, both of whom open at +1200. The top five is rounded out with the Green Bay Packers at +1300.

The Dolphins, who have changed both the general manager, hiring Jon-Eric Sullivan, and head coach, adding Jeff Hafley, this offseason, are not in the top ten. Nor the top 20. Nor the top 30.

Miami comes in with the 31st “best” odds to win next year’s Super Bowl. They are listed at +22500.

In other words, if you bet $100 on the Dolphins and they were to win the game, you would be walking away with a $22,500 profit.

The only team with longer odds than the Dolphins are the New York Jets, who are listed at +25000.

Along with the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets, the New England Patriots round out the AFC East. They are listed 10th in the odds at +1700.

The oddsmakers are clearly not being kind to the Dolphins, who have a lot of questions that need to be answered this offseason – starting with who will be their top quarterback after Tua Tagovailoa regressed during the 2025 season. Miami’s salary cap is in bad shape and the team has to find an identity, something they lacked throughout this year.

Do you think +22500 is an accurate assessment of the Dolphins’ Super Bowl LXI chances, or are the oddsmakers off on Miami’s shot at lifting the Lombardi Trophy? Head to the comments to let us know.

Dolphins rank low in early 2026 NFL power rankings

The NFL season concluded last night as the Seattle Seahawks dominated the New England Patriots en route to a Super Bowl victory in Santa Clara, California. With one season ending, all eyes now turn to the 2026 season — Miami’s first under new head coach Jeff Hafley.

There are plenty of questions surrounding the Dolphins organization — between a new coach, a new general manager, the looming Tua Tagovailoa decision, five top-100 draft picks and more — but before the final piece of confetti could even hit the field during Seattle’s celebration last night, ESPN had already released their first power rankings list for all 32 teams for the upcoming NFL season.

As you might have expected, this list was not kind to the Miami Dolphins.

Miami checks in at number 29 in the early rankings — aka the fourth worst team in the entire league. They rank ahead of just three teams — the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders.

Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN summed up Miami’s 2026 offseason in just three words: “Time to rebuild.

Expounding upon that thought, Louis-Jacques had this to say about Miami’s hefty workload yet to come this offseason:

The Dolphins hired a new general manager and head coach this offseason, as team owner Stephen Ross avoided the half-measures he has taken in years past. Under Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley, Miami wants to establish a new culture — an act that often requires a shuffling of both players and personnel. With a difficult schedule, thin roster and limited starting quarterback options, the Dolphins are likely facing at least a yearlong rebuild in 2026.

Miami Dolphins Discussion: The Super Bowl And What We Learned Edition

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 08: Sam Darnold #14 of the Seattle Seahawks celebrates with the Vince Lombardi Trophy after winning Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots at Levi's Stadium on February 08, 2026 in Santa Clara, California. So another NFL season has come and gone, ending last evening with the Super Bowl, which was won by the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle won the old school way, or the way I would prefer our very own Miami Dolphins to play. A stifling defense based on a solid pass rush and a solid secondary, and an offense with one of the better or best offensive lines and a back or two who can run it down your throat even when the opponent knows that you are going to run it down their throats.

The NFL is, if nothing else, a copycat league. There is more than one organization that saw the beatdown that the New England Patriots took last night and decided that they needed to do more of that, whichever part of the above they wanted to embrace and emulate. The run game didn’t destroy the Patriots, but it was enough to keep the offense moving, even if it ended in field goals more often than not.

Sam Darnold did make some plays, and some of those were very lucky not be picked, but after a while, you could tell that Seattle could feel it on defense and went into more of a play-it-safe mode overall. On the other side of the coin, Drake Maye was pestered all night, making him look more like the second-year player he is than the MVP runner-up that he also is. Maye had two touchdowns to Darnold’s one, but he also took seven sacks and threw two costly interceptions. Darnold threw no interceptions and took only one sack.

As a side note, the one highlight for the Patriots was Christian Gonzalez, who was the one player that seemed to keep the Pats somewhat in the game for more than a half. So now we have the dumb luck of facing that dude for the next several years twice a year.

So tonights Phinsider Question Of The Day is:

What did you, as a Miami Dolphins fan, see from last evening’s game and victory by the Seahawks that you hope the new front office and coaching staff employ in their own plan to rebuild this team to something that looks respectable? On the other side of things, what did you see Seattle do that you hope the Dolphins do not grasp onto in their own rebuild?

The Seattle Seahawks are the most recent Super Bowl champions thanks in large part to their great defense. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was under constant pressure and that may have provided the Miami Dolphins a blue print for future success. The Dolphins invested heavily in their defensive line last year by drafting three players that saw extensive playing time. There was growing pains, but you could see the growth in the rookies but the pass rush just wasn’t there. After watching the past two Super Bowls, it’s become apparent how key having a disruptive pass rush is.

Miami Dolpins Fans Share Their Concerns With The New Regime

gettyimages-2257616044.jpg

MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - JANUARY 22: Miami Dolphins General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross, and Head Coach Jeff Hafley pose for a photo during a press conference at Baptist Health Training Complex on January 22, 2026 in Miami Gardens, Florida. (Photo by Carmen Mandato/Getty Images) | Getty Images

This past week, I asked the following question:

Now that our Miami Dolphins have hired the new GM and nearly filled out the entire coaching staff, what concerns do you still have about either or both? Is it an individual coach that you believe could hold the team back, or is there another concern about the new makeup of the front office or the coaching staff as a whole? Or…maybe you think this is nearly perfect for what we want to see. Please let us know that and why as well.

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Luvs2drnk just hopes this isn’t a case of wash-rinse-repeat.

My only concern right now is that we’re doing the same thing we’ve been doing for the past 21 years and expecting a different result.

coluccim knows that being mediocre is not acceptable.

Same concern as before – the acceptance of mediocracy

MiamiItaliano is concerned about the dire financial situation the team is in, cap-wise, due to horrible decisions made by the previous regime.

The concern is how Sully can build a team with so much dead money against the cap. It’s already at $35 million, before the 2 post-June 1st cuts. Assuming it’s Tua, that’s $67 million this season. Assuming it’s Chubb, that’s $10.9 million. Then there’s Tyreek, who’s probably getting cut ASAP with no post-June 1st designation. That’s $28.2 million dead cap. A total of $142 million of money the Dolphins can’t use this year. That means Sully has to absolutely nail the draft every year until they get out of cap hell.

TheRoo1 hopes that the new regime sticks to the long game this time.

Concerns? That while Sully and Haf have said the right things, now that they have the keys to the car, they decide to take a joy ride, and stray from the long game that they talked about.

USMCFinzFreak hopes the new guys aren’t just fill-ins for now.

My concern is if the staff is just a bridge staff, considering the cap space hell they inherited. I hope not, but we fans are impatient (and rightly so), especially after so many decades of mediocrity. We’ve been on an endless search to find our franchise quarterback, so I hope we can get out of quarterback purgatory soon, but first, the team needs to build a formidable OL before we bring in a QB. Chicken or egg, which one comes first? Sorry for the ramble……

SlayerNation1 is concerned about the culture and if the owners’ priorities are in the right place.

The concern until proven otherwise: the “Dolphins’ Culture” overwhelms/brainwashes any regimes ability to break through the “Glass Ceiling of Mediocrity”

If the Dolphins were an SAT analogy:

High NFLPA Player Grades are to Ross,

what AFC Championships and Lombardis are to some owners.

👆that’s my concern, different names=same net results

Ejplaya is concerned about the lack of talent on the roster and the lack of cap or a high enough draft pick to make an immediate difference.

The biggest concern is have with the staff is their lack of ammunition. They have very little talent on the roster, no cap space, and a first round draft pick outside the top 10. Tough to turn things around quickly without those things.

MIAMI235 is concerned about the new regime having to learn as they go.

Concern: Too much “ On The Job Learning “, as we have watched through the years.

sdphinsfan wants to know whether they can walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Is also concerned that they will be able to compile the right level of talent.

Execution. Haf and JES look and sound the part. Their background is just what you want. But you have to get the “right” players because for as much focus as we put on the FO and the coaching, it’s a players game and the players are what makes it happen. If you have the right players, its easier to go from 4 wins to 14 than it is to go from 7 to 11. When you’re stuck in the middle, it’s harder to make the changes you need to make because you think you are closer than you really are.

Urthling has multiple concerns, inclusing the getting the culture right and the quarterback problem. Also, we are impatient. Damn right we are!

With an impatient fanbase and sometimes mercurial owner, will Haf and Sully get a fair shake to turn Miami around?

With the current QB, cap and roster situations it looks like it could take a few years.

There’s also the secondary concern of creating a “winning culture”, that might be difficult to accomplish if the next 1-2 seasons we pile up more losses than wins, unless the players feel that significant progress is being made.

That’s a laundry list, and every one of those concerns seems more than legit. Clearly, we are all concerned about the lack of a quality quarterback, a strong team culture of winning, and the overall lack of talent in the right positions on the roster. Let’s hope that they got it right this time, or it’s going to be another long, ugly ride for us in the fanbase. As always, thank you to each of you who come into our posts nearly every evening or the next morning and answer our question of the day.

Darrell Bevell leaves Miami Dolphins for Carolina Panthers

MIAMI GARDENS, FL - AUGUST 17: Tua Tagovailoa #1 of the Miami Dolphins smiles with quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell on the sidelines prior to an NFL preseason football game against the Washington Commanders at Hard Rock Stadium on August 17, 2024 in Miami Gardens, FL. (Photo by Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images) | Getty Images

The great remaking of the Miami Dolphins continues to roll on this offseason as the team transitions from former general manager Chris Grier and former head coach Mike McDaniel to new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley.

On Wednesday morning, it was reported by various sources that former Dolphins quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Darrell Bevell will be joining the Carolina Panthers staff as the team’s associate head coach. Bevell spent the last four seasons in Miami under Mike McDaniel — helping quarterback Tua Tagovailoa maximize his skillset before his steep decline in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are still in search of a new quarterbacks coach, after the man they hired for the job — Nathaniel Hackett — left Miami for the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator position less than a week after being hired. Whoever the Dolphins settle on will have his work cut out for him — as the team wrestles with the idea of moving on from Tagovailoa, while still having 7th round draft pick, Quinn Ewers, in the quarterbacks room.

Of course, there has been plenty of speculation this offseason as to whether or not the Dolphins will be able to bring Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis to South Florida when free agency opens in one month’s time — with the Dolphins and Cleveland Browns being named as the two teams most interested in his services.

Phins Fans Share Their Opinions: Lessons From The Super Bowl That Can/Should Be Applied To The Dolphins

gettyimages-2256985626.jpg

MIAMI GARDENS, FL - JANUARY 22: new Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafleyduring answer questions from reporters at the Miami Dolphins press conference on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Baptist Health Training Center in Miami Gardens, FL. (Photo by Peter Joneleit/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Following last weekend’s Super Bowl, I asked the following question:

What did you, as a Miami Dolphins fan, see from last evening’s game and victory by the Seahawks that you hope the new front office and coaching staff employ in their own plan to rebuild this team to something that looks respectable? On the other side of things, what did you see Seattle do that you hope the Dolphins do not grasp onto in their own rebuild?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

cyberflea says that building up those lines is the way to go.

The key is a dominant defensive line. Football games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage. This is where Sully as he mentioned will build the Dolphins from the inside – out. Offensive and defensive lines.

JUK, in a reply to cyberflea, just pointed out a couple of things about how the Seahawks were built.

Not disagreeing about line play but worth noting Seattle didn’t build inside out as such. They just got good players in. Their o line isn’t a strength of the team and is one of the cheapest in the league (albeit before giving cross a new contract). Interestingly they drafted all their o line but not on the d line.

Dave G says that it proves that you can still win a Super Bowl without a top-notch quarterback.

We could win a SB without a great QB. We have Achane, and with another big back giving us a thunder and lightening backfield it can be achieved. We need to draft some defensive studs though.

FlyerFinFan says that it shows that you need to be able to stop the run and pressure the quarterback.

Need solid run D and a crazy pass rush that seems to be a key component with bowl winners. Seahawks, Eagles, Chiefs….they’ve all received this in victory. I’d take either a CB or DE 1st round even if you trade back do it. 2nd round take the other position. After that get your OT/OG, WR or TE BPA.

One thing I didn’t understand from Kubiak was throwing a 5 yard out short of a first down that could have been a pick six. They were already in FG range and calls like that aren’t needed. When you have the lead and the other team can’t do squat why take the risk???

JUK again responded, this time to FlyerFinFan. He believes you should draft based on the level of talent available, not just a specific roster need.

The lesson from the Seahawks is you draft good players not positions. Going into the first two rounds saying we must draft these positions is a recipe for reaching and failure. Note I’m not saying we shouldn’t take an edge and a corner in the first two rounds, but if the best player there on your board in round 2 is (as a random example) is McNeil-Warren and you think he’s this year’s Nick Emmanwori, you should pick him not force yourself to get a CB

Cutie0716 says it shows we need a fast, angry front 7 and a secondary full of guys who know how to tackle. Also wants the team to go out and find players who are “hungry.”

We need a hungry defense. We need a quicker and angrier front 7, and a secondary that tackles the opposition by wrapping them up, NOT trying to knock them down with their shoulders. I saw that all year and that falls on the coach.

Defense in 2026, with maybe one of the top 3 OL as our 1st pick. Then DL, secondary and LB.

We will also have the UDFA to find the rest. And no less than 15 UDFA. Hungry. No more prima donnas.

Dolphster says it’s a reminder that defense wins championships.

I’ve said as much in other threads and James mentions the same in his article. Defense wins championships.

PhinsTifosi, in agreement with Dolphster, says it’s a yes about defense winning it all!

“O sells tickets. D wins championships,” -Bear Bryant

“Winning championships sells tickets”. -PhinsTifosi

SuperG!, in response to PhinsTifosi, said it‘s smoke and mirrors from the ownership.

“If you can’t sell tickets, buy out the remaining unsold tickets so it appears as if you are selling tickets.” – Stephen Ross

finfanfromsiam says build the defense, stop throwing stupid money at free agents, and manage the cap properly!

The smothering defense is the blueprint. Don’t drop stupid money on free agents. Proper cap control.

sdphinsfan says play solid D and run it down their throats.

Play good Defense and run the ball. Works every time…

The Seahawks under Schneider have put a focus on acquiring good players that fit what they do. They don’t overpay…and it doesn’t seem like they miss on alot, either in FA or the Draft. That tells me their scouting department knows what they are doing…hint, hint Sully. Get that part right and you and Haf will have a chance to turn this around.

JUK also has a comment of his own, pointing out that a coach who calls the D can win it all and that the team needs to stop forcing picks to just fill a position and instead draft the best players possible.

A first time play calling defensive coach just won the superbowl. We have one of those (who is very well respected) for those that thought that can’t work.

You don’t have to have a top 10 QB on a rookie contract to be competitive and win a Super Bowl (in fact Mahomes’ first title is the only one since Flacco in 2012 to fulfil that criteria). Schneider has drafted 3 QBs in 14 years with the highest being Wilson/Milroe in the 3rd round.

To expand on the point above, drafting good players matters more than drafting specific positions. Only two of the Seahawks starters in the front 7 were draftees but 4 of their 5 secondary starters were. They added other key pieces by trade or free agency.

A great example – In the Seahawks 2023 draft (which they absolutely smashed) they picked Witherspoon and JSN with their two first round picks, even though Jalen Carter was on the board for the first pick. They then traded for Leonard Williams later that year. They got 5 key players in the top 108 of that draft but went CB, WR, Edge, RB, G. In 2024 their best draft picks were an interior D Lineman and a tight end, and in 2025 they hit on their top 2 picks with a guard and a safety.

TL:DR. Just draft good players rather than trying to force positional value. You can than add key pieces via free agency and trade… even at QB if that’s how your roster building falls.

Well, that’s our selection of comments this evening. It seems the fanbase is in agreement on the need to build a solid defense, and for some, a top-of-the-first-round quarterback isn’t necessary to win it all. Some of you also want to see the team learn to draft more in the best player available mode than in the reach-for-positional-need mode. I would also like to see them stop drafting the project guys, unless it’s a possible steal on day three. As always, thank you to each of you who takes the time to answer our PQOTD.

Dolphins sign former Patriots cornerback

We’re less than a week removed from the Super Bowl, but one player who just missed out on a ring will be taking his talents from the New England Patriots to the Miami Dolphins. On Wednesday, it was announced that the Dolphins signed cornerback Miles Battle. Battle was on New England’s practice squad for the entire 2025 postseason, but did see some game action during the regular season. He played in 5 games in 2025, totaling 29 snaps on defense and 54 on special teams.

Battle — 26 years-old — was signed to the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. He started his college career at Ole Miss (2018-2022), but played his final season in college with Utah in 2024. Battle had three interceptions during his time at the collegiate level.

The former Patriot’s most significant feature is his size — standing at 6’3” and weighing in at 197 lb. Could that offer a blueprint for what Miami will be looking for in regards to secondary players under the new regime of recent head coach hire Jeff Hafley? With free agency starting in less than a month, plus the 2026 NFL Draft following in April, we will likely be given more clues to Hafley’s ideal defender in short order.

Dolphins blocked from interviewing Lions assistant for QB coach job

The Miami Dolphins are still struggling to fill their quarterbacks coach position.

They originally hired former Denver Broncos head coach and former New York Jets offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett for the role, but he left within a week to be the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals. On Thursday night, they lost out on another preferred candidate when the Detroit Lions blocked them from interviewing offensive assistant Bruce Gradkowski.

Gradkowski — 43 years old — is a former NFL quarterback, selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 6th round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played for six teams during his 11-year career (Tampa Bay, St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers). During his time in the league, he totaled 9,197 yards passing, 85 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.

Following his playing career, Gradkowski coached high school football until he was hired by the St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL and UFL as the organization’s offensive coordinator. Gradkowski moved to the Detroit Lions of the NFL in February of 2025.

The Dolphins will continue their search for a quarterbacks coach — a role that has become increasingly difficult to fill due to the uncertainty surrounding the position in Miami.

Miami Dolphins set to hire Mississippi State’s Bush Hamdan as QBs Coach

imagn-23895970.jpg

New Kentucky offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan coaches during practice Friday. August 2, 2024 in Lexington. Hamdan came from Boise State; he's also coached at Missouri, the Atlanta Falcons and Florida as well.

The search for the Miami Dolphins’ next Quarterbacks Coach has finally come to an end.

After losing Nathanial Hackett to the Arizona Cardinals and being blocked from interviewing Bruce Gradkowski, Miami’s new head coach, Jeff Hafley, has finally settled on his new quarterbacks coach.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Dolphins are expected to hire Mississippi State associate head coach Bush Hamdan as the team’s QBs coach. Hamdan joined the Bulldogs coaching staff back on December 10th. He will now join a Dolphins offensive staff led by OC Bobby Slowik.

— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) February 13, 2026

Hamdan, 39, played quarterback collegiately at Boise State during the 2004-2008 seasons. In recent years, he served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Kentucky Wildcats (2004-2005) and Boise State Broncos (2023).

Additionally, Hamdan spent three seasons in Missouri under HC Eli Drinkwitz, serving as the team’s QBs and WRs coach (2020-2022). His lone season in the NFL was back in 2017, when he served as the QBs coach for the Atlanta Falcons. During that season, Matt Ryan ranked sixth in passing yards with 4,095.

Hamdan will now look to get the most out of a room that could see big changes this offseason.

Tua Tagovailoa will likely be traded in the coming weeks if the right suitor comes calling and Miami takes on a large share of the deal.

Without Tua, that leaves second-year QB Quinn Ewers asMiami’ss lone QB on the roster.

Ewers started three games for the Dolphins in 2025, completing 66.3% of his passes for 622 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Should the Dolphins bring back Jack Jones – The Splash Zone 2/13/26

CB Jack Jones is set to be a free agent in the coming month and the new regime with the Miami Dolphins must decided whether to bring him back or not. Jones had some good moments and bad moments in his one year with the team. You can argue that he could be a nice piece to have in the secondary as a second option but what could make this decision difficult is Rasul Douglas. Douglas wasn’t with the Dolphins long, but he quickly became one their top cornerback and he has so familiarity with Green Bay. In an ideal world, they would both be back with the Dolphins. But with the cap situation, it’s more than likely just one of them might be back.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley met with season ticket holders the other day and the topic of Tua Tagovailoa came up. Sully stated that no decision has been made as of yet, but one should be made soon. While Tua provided some exciting football, the past two years have been a struggle with him under center. Last season, he regressed so much that he was benched for Quinn Ewers, a seventh round rookie. While Ewers wasn’t perfect, the offense operated a little more efficiently then when Tua was playing. All signs point towards Tua being on his way out whether that is via trade or a straight up release.

Miami Dolphins Fans On the Affects Of Hiring So Many Staff Members From the GB Packers

gettyimages-2257616247.jpg

This past week, I asked a question that was originally suggested by Johnny, aka Alpha6:

With the idea that our Miami Dolphins have taken multiple members of both the front office and coaching staff away from the Green Bay Packers to rebuild the staff in Miami, do you see the Packers taking a step back, aka are they now weakened by subtraction, and/or will our own Dolphins take a step forward, aka strengthened by addition?

I did not receive as many answers as I would have liked, but below are some of the thoughts and answers that we did get-

TheRoo1 chimed in with some more ideas for us to base articles on. Always appreciated! Any ideas at any time can be sent to me via the comments section of my post or directly via my X/Twitter account.

James, since the Phins will be bargain basement shoppers this year in free agency, articles on matching needs to low budget fills,,,, pick a position group and go.

or

highlight miami rehab facility, association with Baptist health, can Phins develop a reputation as a preferred location for players rehabbing or returning from injury, Can we get some good one or two year rentals of returning players wanting to take advantage of Phin facilities and staff .

A primer article on contract types, futures etc, effect on salary cap, cap dates, requirements, and ways to stretch the cap.

just a few ideas

finfanfromsiam, in response to TheRoo1 wants no more broken-down players.

Please no more injured players with upside or potential….!

CaliFins, in response to finfanfromsiam concurs on the broken-down player thing and does not want players signed just because they used to be great.

That was my biggest gripe. We are cap strapped, but we are going to bring in an injured Beckham and have him just collect a check for most of the season so we can sell jerseys with his name on them. Or hey, next season let’s do it again with Waller!! That $3Mill for Beckham was thrown away and McDaniel was so busy looking at his shinny new toy in Waller and thinking of all the great things he can open up for him, that he missed seeing Dulcich on his own practice squad until the end of the season.

I’m glad this regime is seeing it. Built a tough next man up culture from within. Nurture players for years, don’t rent them for one or two.

Dolfanjoe hopes that we are not doing this all over again in 4-6 years.

Should we put the Dolphin flag at (Half Staff ) ! Retaining some of the Miami staff and adding GBs to the top of the food chain ? What happens in 27 when we have the first pick in the draft ? Will they say plan has gone perfectly. Or will the Fan’s be clamoring for off with there heads ! Will GB be there with the second pick in the draft because they lost Coaches and couldn’t find anyone to take there place ? I have yet to see how long the contracts are for our head coach and GM. I would guess about 6 years. Hopefully by 4 they have earned them. I keep using the magic 8 ball i have found at the garage sale, of course while wearing my Ricky jersey i bought for ten bucks. And each time i ask if they made the right decision the answer keeps coming up Try Again ? Does that mean in 6 years try again or this thing is stuck ? Oh well i guess we have years to decide if all is well with the Universe……………………

coach k 13 likes the idea of adding staff from the GB Pakcker due to their past success.

I could really care less what happens with Green bay! LOL!, but I like Miami getting coaches from the Packers, Let’s face it, they have been a solid team for many many years.

finfanfromsiam belives that Green Bay will hold onto their culture and just reload. Also hopes that it translates the same way for the Dolphins.

I think the Packers will reload and be fine. They have their culture and way of doing things so will be ok. We can only hope that translates to be what we can build here. I think getting rid of the anchor of Grier/McDaniel is addition by subtraction. The new infusion of blood should propel us forward to hopefully reach in the same neighborhood of Green Bay. We will see how it pans out starting in March.

Spok507 doesn’t know much about Packers guys, but seems encouraged that they are going to move on from Tua.

I’ll admit I don’t know much about the new GM and HC and even less about the Packers. I can only hope they have a plan to bring this franchise back to prominence. I’ve waited a long time for them to move on from the mistake of drafting Tua, so I have to hope things will improve. I do believe they can rebuild as long as they focus on substance instead of flash now.

Well thats it for our comments this evening. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our Phinsider Question Of The Day. I will return tomorrow evening with a new question of the day post.

Last week, I hit one of those walls where you just feel like you have run out of logical questions to ask for this nightly post, so I asked again for some suggestions. I did not get the number of suggestions I had hoped for, but I did get some solid ones. All the same, I appreciate every one of you who chimed in with a question you thought I should ask, or maybe one you would like answered. As a side note, if you missed the first post asking for suggestions and have an idea, feel free to add it in the comments below.

The first question Phinsider Question Of The Day suggestion that I will use comes from our very own Johnny, aka Alpha6. So with that in mind, this evening’s question of the day is:

With the idea that our Miami Dolphins have taken multiple members of both the front office and coaching staff away from the Green Bay Packers to rebuild the staff in Miami, do you see the Packers taking a step back, aka are they now weakened by subtraction, and/or will our own Dolphins take a step forward, aka strengthened by addition?

Miami Dolphins Discussion: What Wins Championships Edition

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 08: Drake Maye #10 of the New England Patriots is sacked by Riq Woolen #27 of the Seattle Seahawks during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium on February 08, 2026 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images) | Getty Images

Last week, I wrote a post with a question of the day asking what questions you would like asked. One of the submissions was from our very own sdphinsfan. sdphinsfan pointed out the fact that the NFL has consistently adjusted the rules over the years to favor offensive production. The assumption being that exciting offenses are what the fans most want to see. But despite the league pushing for offensive production while finding ways to restrict defenses, it still seems as if defense wins championships more often than not. It’s not to say that you don’t need offensive production in the NFL, but all things equal, the postseason games tend to go to the teams that dominate on defense. This is also somewhat in contrast to the regular season, where a team with a dominant offense can win a high percentage of its games, even while fielding a subpar defense.

So the now obvious Phinsider Question Of The Day is:

In the NFL, where the rules and the game in general are now geared toward a higher rate of offensive production and, in turn, higher scoring, why are NFL Championships still won on the backs of dominant defenses?

Please share your thougths and answers in the comment section below-
