Raise your hand if you knew the Miami Dolphins were going to play their best game of the season. The Dolphins trounced the Atlanta Falcons by playing great complimentary football. The Dolphins running game was good and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, despite having trouble with his high, was efficient with 4 touchdowns. Hats off the Dolphins defense too as they held the Falcons to 10 points with their touchdown only coming late in the fourth. Next up for Miami is a Thursday night showdown with a familiar foe, the Baltimore Ravens.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Storm Duck to miss rest of 2025 season due to injury

gettyimages-2227722345.jpg

Miami Dolphins cornerback Storm Duck will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to the knee injury he suffered against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed while speaking with the South Florida media on Monday afternoon.

Duck returned to action Sunday after missing the team’s previous six contests due to an ankle injury he suffered in week one against the Indianapolis Colts. He played all of 15 defensive snaps before exiting against Atlanta.

Duck entered the league in 2024 after going undrafted out of Louisville. He joined the Miami Dolphins on April 27th, 2024 and made the opening day 53-man roster after an impressive summer with the club. He played in 14 games during his rookie season — starting three. Duck played 358 snaps on defense in 2024, while adding 131 special teams snaps.

His 2025 season ends after playing just 44 defensive snaps in two games, while tacking on 7 special teams snaps.

The Miami Dolphins are left with Rasul Douglas, Jack Jones, Kendall Sheffield, Ethan Bonner and JuJu Brents as the only remaining cornerbacks on the roster. We will keep you updated with any corresponding moves the Dolphins may make after eventually placing Storm Duck on season-ending injured reserve.

Did Mike McDaniel get a lifeline – The Splash Zone 10/28/25

new_splash_zone.jpg

Winning can help cure a lot of things, but the Miami Dolphins have dug themselves into a deep hole that they may not be able to get out of. Mike McDaniel’s coaching seat has been pretty hot the past couple of weeks but after clobbering the Atlanta Falcons, it’s been pretty quiet on the “Fire McDaniel” front. While firing McDaniel may still be warranted after the season, it’s just nice to enjoy a Dolphins win before they take on the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Miami Dolphins’ Most Valuable Player | Week Eight | Defensive masterpiece

gettyimages-2243445982.jpg

Hey! We got one!

For only the second time in 2025, the Miami Dolphins found themselves on the positive side of the scoreboard on Sunday — defeating the Atlanta Falcons in convincing fashion by a score of 34-10.

Tua Tagovailoa and the offense had an efficient day, with the quarterback throwing for four touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing 20 of 26 passes. Miami’s ground attack led the way — with head coach Mike McDaniel calling 37 running plays as opposed to just 26 throws.

It was a good day from the offense, but we’ve seen that this season. What we haven’t seen is a dominating performance by the defense, and that’s just what we got against Atlanta on Sunday as Miami only allowed 213 yards after averaging a poor 363.1 yards allowed per game heading into their showdown with the Falcons.

One defender led the way, spearheading Miami’s defensive rebound.

Miami Dolphins Week Eight MVP – Jordyn Brooks

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks had himself a day against Atlanta — totaling 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack of Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins. All day long, Brooks was shedding blocks and attacking ball carriers — a major reason why all-star running back Bijan Robinson finished Sunday’s contest with just 25 yards rushing on 9 carries. For a player who was averaging just over 5.0 yards per carry on the season, Brooks and company gave up just 2.8 yards per carry to Atlanta’s monster back.

Week eight marks the first time a defensive player has won the Most Valuable ‘Phin award from yours truly in 2025, but here’s hoping Anthony Weaver’s bunch can continue to turn in productive performances while Miami continues to put more notches in the win column.

Don’t forget, the Dolphins were 2-6 after eight games last season, yet narrowly missed the playoffs after stringing together a bunch of wins during the back half of the 2024 season. Can they repeat history, but this time win an extra game or two in order to get themselves into the postseason? That may end up being too much to ask considering Miami’s remaining schedule, but after a victory like the team had on Sunday, one can dream, right?

Miami Dolphins fan confidence poll Week 9: Does the win over Atlanta bolster the fan base?

gettyimages-2243466044.jpg

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Dolphins fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

The Miami Dolphins put together their best performance of the season on Sunday, beating the Atlanta Falcons 34-10. For at least one day, the fun was back with the team, and the fans, as Miami played a complete game on offense, defense, and special teams. It felt like everything the fans expected this team to be this year.

Unfortunately, the win only moved Miami to 2-6 on the season. It also comes on a short week, as the Dolphins host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football to start Week 9. The win felt good, but it is already behind the team and the fans with a tough game against the Ravens, who will have quarterback Lamar Jackson back on the field after he missed three weeks with a hamstring injury, on tap.

How do you feel about the direction of the Dolphins following their win? Was it enough to bolster your hopes for the future of the team? Our SB Nation Reacts poll is back to get the fan confidence rating for Dolphins fans heading into Week 9. We added a second question this week, wanting to see how many wins you think the Dolphins fan pull off this year.

Vote in the poll below and head to the comments to discuss. We will be back soon with our results from this week’s poll.

Your TNF Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins Predictions/Players To Steal

gettyimages-1904778312.jpg

With our Miami Dolphins welcoming the Baltimore Ravens to town tomorrow for a Thursday Night Football game, I asked the usual pre-game questions:

What are your predictions for this coming Sunday’s game between our Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens? Additionally, please share with us which player(s) you would steal from the Ravens to place on the Phins roster.

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Wildfin22 is playing the odds.

I’m going with percentages home team on Thursday night has an unusually high chance of a win.

SlayerNation1 wants Ross to do his thing, but has Miami dropping another.

Harbaugh/FO/Owner

The other Harbaugh will be in house, Ross, do that tampering thing, this time without getting caught.

BAL 31 MIA 24

Henry and LJ combine for 200 rushing yards.

TheRoo1 thinks that you know what to do!

Just type Lamar Jackson 30 times,,,,, NEXT

Alpha6 has Miami whoopin’ up on the Ravens and wants to steal King Henry.

Player to steal: Derrick Henry

Prediction for Thurs: Ravens 13, Dolphins 🐬 34…

Ravens will try & run, with LJ being limited.

Ravens D is atrocious.

Dolphins 🐬 will use the six O-linemen during runs. Achane & Ollie catching a few more passes.

Their D will make Lamar wish he was more mobile & Jordyn will waste him when he does.

cyberflea believes that you already know who to take and sees this one slipping away from the Phins.

Player to steal – No brainer, Lamar Jackson. Dual threat franchise QB and two-time MVP.

Prediction – Bad timing for the Dolphins as Lamar Jackson returns. Last week the Dolphins had it easy with stationary QB Kirk Cousins, not this week as they have both Henry and Jackson to worry about as running threats.

The Ravens defense ranks in the bottom five in points allowed, yards allowed, passing defense and third-down defense. Miami’s defense allows the fourth-most yards per carry. The Dolphin’s passing defense has given up the highest completion percentage, has the fewest interceptions and has allowed the second-highest passer rating.

The difference will be broken tackles on freight train Derrick Henry and Lamar Jacksons improvision running which will open the Ravens pass offense that dooms the Dolphins in a close game.

The Ravens continue to turn their season around while the Dolphins despite their best performance on both sides of the ball last week come back to reality.

Ravens win: 27-24

NCSurferMike made the obvious choice but wonders if it would matter.

Lamar, though he would still get killed behind our line.

BurstingFireLegend sees things going south quickly, with Miami unable to catch up.

My prediction…. it gets ugly quick. By halftime we will be down 24-10. Lose 38 – 24.

USMCFinzFreak says Lamar is the obvious choice, but the outcome of the game depends on which version of the Dolphins shows up tomorrow evening.

Lamar, no doubt.

If last weekend’s Dolphins show up, Dolphins 31-Ravens 14

If the first through 7-week Dolphins show up, Ravens 41-Dolphins 10

FLexile had a couple of different comments. One shows reservations about taking a recently injured Lamar and sees another disaster for Miami, especially if it’s cool tomorrow evening.

With Lamar Jackson’s recent hamstring injury, I would certainly NOT want him and the potential risk of re-injury. Especially when the Dolphins have a first ballot hall of famer taking the snaps right now.

McDaniel’s inability to make in game adjustments will sink the Dolphins.. again. It does get a little chilly at night in Miami. If it dips below 70°, Tua will crumble.

Well, that’s our selection of comments this evening. With one exception, the majority of us would take Lamar Jackson in a heartbeat. As for the game’s outcome, it’s a mixed bag, with some seeing us win a second game in a row and others expecting somewhere between a close loss and a blowout. Thank you, as always, to each of you who took the time to participate in our question of the day. Please be sure to join us tomorrow evening for our live game thread.

Thursday Night Football: Miami Dolphins inactives vs. Baltimore Ravens

gettyimages-2238018569.jpg

The Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens are set to kick off on Thursday Night Football later tonight. Kickoff is set for 8:15 PM ET. This means we are now officially 90 minutes from kickoff, and both teams have officially announced their list of inactives ahead of this AFC showdown.

Earlier today, the Dolphins made several roster moves.

First, the team activated rookie cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. from the injured reserve list. Marshall looked promising throughout the preseason and appeared to be poised to start at nickel (before Kader Kohou’s injury).

The team also elevated second-year cornerback Isaiah Johnson and tight end Hayden Rucci. Rucci looked solid last week in limited action and could continue to be a critical part of Miami’s offense moving forward.

But those were just a few of the moves Miami made earlier today. Let’s take a look at the list of inactives ahead of tonight’s Thursday Night matchup.

Miami Dolphins Inactives vs. Baltimore Ravens

— Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins) October 30, 2025

For the second consecutive week, the Dolphins have decided to go with veteran quarterback Zach Wilson as the team’s backup behind starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. This means that rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers will serve as the team’s emergency third QB. A move that is even a bit more surprising, however, is Miami’s decision to sit second-year running back Jaylen Wright.

Last week, Wright carried the ball 9 times for 28 yards and a first down. He was quite literally a player the team traded up to acquire. Could this be part of the gampelan vs. Baltimore, or is he player to watch as the trade deadline nears?

Other inactive players include safeties Ashtyn Davis and Jordan Colbert, cornerback Juju Brents, tight end Julian Hill, and defensive tackle Zeek Biggers.

The Miami Dolphins (2-6) take on the Baltimore Ravens (2-5) at 8:15 ET. The game can be streamed live on Amazon Prime or on TWITCH. #FINSUP

What are your thoughts on Zach Wilson holding down the QB2 spot? Do you think Jaylen Wright could be traded? How important is Ashtyn Davis’ injury to the secondary? Let us know in the comments section below!

The Good, Bad & Ugly from the Miami Dolphins Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens

gettyimages-2244245388.jpg

After a full-on decimation of the Atlanta Falcons in week eight, the Miami Dolphins found themselves under the bright lights of Hard Rock Stadium in week nine to battle the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.

That’s right… a dreaded primetime game.

And unfortunately, the Dolphins did what the Dolphins always seem to do on primetime — get embarrassed when the entire world is watching. More on that later. Miami lost to Baltimore by a score of 28-6, dropping their record to a dismal and disheartening 2-7.

As I sit here, late at night following this disappointment of a game, I ask myself, when will it end? When will the Dolphins give us a team worth rooting for — a team that can finally break the quarter-century long playoff win drought?

It certainly won’t be this year.

GOOD

Run game creativity continues until Ollie Gordon II injury

For the second straight game, the Miami Dolphins rolled out a jumbo package on the offensive line — running a 6th offensive lineman, Daniel Brunskill, into offensive formations in an attempt to gain an advantage in the ground game.

During the first half, it seemed to be working, as De’Von Achane gained 67 rushing yards on 12 carries. Malik Washington carried twice for 10 yards and Ollie Gordon II added six yards on two carries.

Unfortunately, Gordon II — Miami’s power back — injured his ankle at the end of the first half, hampering the Dolphins’ ability to move the rock on the ground. And with Miami chasing the scoreboard in the second half, the team was unable to continue their commitment to running the ball.

Mike McDaniel would be wise to continue utilizing Brunskill in jumbo formations moving forward this season.

BAD

Dolphins miscues continue “self-inflicted wounds” trend

During last week’s victory against the Atlanta Falcons, the Dolphins delivered a clean outing in all three phases of the game — offense, defense and special teams. Against the Ravens on Thursday Night Football, Miami reverted back to their habit of shooting themselves in the foot over and over until their opponent pulled away.

In the first half alone, wide receiver Tahj Washington fumbled on Miami’s second drive — giving the Ravens the ball deep in Dolphins territory which allowed Lamar Jackson to throw a short touchdown pass to give Baltimore the lead.

On Miami’s next drive, the team was driving deep into Baltimore’s end of the field before a pivotal 4th and 1 play that saw right tackle Larry Borom called for a false start. On the subsequent field goal attempt, kicker Riley Patterson missed a 35-yard attempt. Soon after, the Ravens would drive the length of the field, scoring on a 20-yard pass from Jackson to tight end Mark Andrews on a play where two Dolphins defenders ran into each other, falling down to allow Andrews to waltz into the endzone.

UGLY

Dolphins embarrass themselves in primetime again

The Dolphins got a Monday Night Football victory over the lowly New York Jets earlier in the season, but if you take a look at Miami’s record in primetime games since Mike McDaniel took over as the team’s head coach prior to the 2022 NFL season, it isn’t pretty.

In 2022, the Dolphins played in four primetime games — losing three and winning just one.

In 2023, the Dolphins played in four primetime games — losing three and winning just one.

In 2024, the Dolphins played in four primetime games — losing three and winning just one.

I’m sensing a pattern here.

Miami is 1-2 in nationally televised games this season. They have two more to go (three if you count their game against the Washington Commanders in Spain) — although the NFL will most certainly flex one or two of those games out of those primtime slots… mercifully.

___

Once again, the Miami Dolphins found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard under the lights of a nationally televised game at night — dropping their record to an incredibly disappointing 2-7 in the process. It doesn’t get any easier for Miami next week, as the Buffalo Bills will line up against the boys in aqua and orange. We’ll see who really wants to be here by the effort displayed by the team in that one. How many more games do you realistically predict Miami to win through the rest of the season? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter at @MBrave13. Fins upsheesh.

How many wins will the Dolphins have in 2025?

gettyimages-2244247820.jpg

The Miami Dolphins dropped to 2-7 through the first nine weeks of the 2025 NFL season after losing to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. While the rest of the league is waiting for their Week 9 contests, the Dolphins are already starting to work on the future – general manager Chris Grier has agreed to leave the team, and they are working on ways to improve “in 2025, 2026, and beyond.”

This week, our SB Nation Reacts survey asked how many games the Dolphins would win this season. The survey ran before Thursday’s game, but, with another loss on the record, it still seems like an accurate response from the fan base.

The poll allowed for answers of two wins, three to five wins, six to eight wins, or somehow turn everything around for nine or more wins. By a huge margin, three to five wins won the poll with 70 percent of the responses. The second most popular response was six to eight wins, with 21 percent of the replies. Nine or more wins was third with seven percent of the responses, while the team not winning another game this season coming in with just two percent of the replies.

Miami_2_102925.png

The Dolphins are making things hard on themselves this year, and three to five wins may be the ceiling they can reach this year. The team makes too many mistakes, getting in their own way almost as often as they are getting beaten by the opponent.

The Ravens beat the Dolphins 28-6, but the stats show this was a much closer game than that. The Dolphins gained 332 yards, compared to 338 for Baltimore. Miami averaged 4.4 yards per carry on the ground, while the Ravens averaged 4.8. The Dolphins have 245 passing yards while the Ravens had 188. The time of possession was 28:17 for Miami and 31:43 for Baltimore. The game should have been close, but two lost fumbles and an interception with no takeaways crushed the Dolphins’ chances.

If the Dolphins can figure out how to stop making unforced mistakes, they could put together some wins. But “if” is the key word, and they do not look like a team who is going to suddenly make a late-season run.

Our survey also included our weekly fan confidence poll question. Remember, this was before the Ravens game, so that loss is not included in the results. Before Thursday’s game, 16 percent of the fans said they were confident in the direction of the team. That was a massive increase from the week before, where just six percent of the responses felt good about Miami’s direction.

Miami_1_102925.png

Will the loss to the Ravens drop the fan confidence? Will the change of GM lead to an increase in fan confidence about the direction of the team? We will be back early next week to see what happens.
