After a disappointing regular season and a shoulder injury that cost him four months worth of time, Roki Sasaki was the saving grace for the Dodgers bullpen during their most recent title run.

Sasaski was finally able to show flashes of his promising potential that was heavily advertised the offseason prior, and after his brief bullpen stint, he is now set to return to the Dodgers rotation this upcoming season. Just like how his 2025 regular season began, Sasaki has struggled mightily on the mound over his first two starts of the spring.

Sasaki allowed three runs in his first start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, following that up by allowing another four runs against the Cleveland Guardians via a grand slam from Kyle Manzardo on Tuesday. Although the Dodgers were able to salvage both games after the right-hander’s departures, the early results have painted a bleak picture on Sasaki’s outlook ahead of opening day. Despite the struggles, the plan is to keep him in the rotation come the Dodgers opening series on March 26, notes Sonja Chen of MLB.com.

“I think it can change. But I don’t think it’s gonna change before we break,” Roberts said. “Building him up, we see him as a starter, and giving him every opportunity for success. But again, we still gotta coach him up, and he’s still gotta continue to get outs and work ahead like Major League starters do.”

River Ryan later came in relief during Tuesday’s contest against Cleveland, and tossed two scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing zero hits and one walk. Ryan’s stock for making the opening day rotation is rising with every appearance— especially with Blake Snell and Gavin Stone officially ruled out— but Dave Roberts won’t make any hasty decisions too early amidst the competition, per Courtney Hollmon of MLB.com.

“I think right now, where we’re at, I don’t think we need to really talk about a competition as far as the rotation. Once we get to the 21st of March, we’ll have a better idea once we break camp. But I think right now, there’s just too much that can happen.”

Dave Roberts spoke about the team’s top pitching prospect Jackson Ferris, as the left-hander has impressed with 2 2/3 scoreless innings so far this spring, per Jack Vita of the Los Angeles Times.

“I like Jackson,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said recently. “I like the player. He’s a good kid. A lot of talent. I think for me, it’s just trying to harness his arsenal. It’s a good fastball. He needs to continue to get ahead, be able to put hitters away with the secondary pitches, be efficient with his pitches per inning, but I like Jackson.”

Andy Pages, Dalton Rushing shine, Dodgers top Mexico

Included in the Dodgers’ 7-5 win over Mexico in Wednesday’s exhibition at Camelback Ranch were a few performances that can’t help but be viewed with an eye toward the regular season.

Each of Andy Pages’ seven previous starts this spring were in center field, so he got to stay off his feet a bit on Wednesday as the designated hitter. Pages followed the assignment to a tee with a home run and double in his first two at-bats.

Start it off, Andy! #DodgersST pic.twitter.com/dz2Zt2V9D5

— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) March 4, 2026

Pages has five extra-base hits in 23 plate appearances this spring.

Dalton Rushing continues to hit the ball hard, and often in the air, this spring. That included a second-inning triple off the center field wall for another run, then an RBI double into the right field corner in the third inning. Baseball Savant didn’t register data for that triple, but in Rushing’s other 11 batted balls this spring have an average exit velocity of 100.3 mph, including six balls hit over 100 mph.

He has two home runs this spring to go with his two extra-base hits on Wednesday.

— SportsNet LA (@SportsNetLA) March 4, 2026

It’s never wise to read too much into exhibition stats, but how the Dodgers have utilized and talked about veteran non-roster infielder Santiago Espinal this spring fits the pattern of someone exceedingly likely to begin the regular season on the active roster.

Wednesday was Espinal’s seventh start this spring, getting the call at third base against Mexico. He had an RBI double in the third inning to go with his fly ball that somehow landed for a single in the second. Espinal has reached base 14 times in 21 trips to the plate so far this spring, and while you should take that .667 on-base percentage with a grain of salt, his on-roster percentage appears from my vantage point to be north of that.

On the mound

After pitching to one batter in the third inning in his first Cactus League affair last Thursday, Tyler Glasnow on Wednesday faced five batters in the third inning against Mexico. That third frame gave the right-hander the most trouble, with two singles and a run plating a run, driven in by Toronto Blue Jays catcher (and last year’s final batter) Alejandro Kirk to drive Glasnow from the game.

Glasnow left with two runners on, and both scored on a single off reliever Jacob Frost, the Dodgers’ 10th-round draft pick last season out of Kansas State. Glasnow threw 51 pitches this time around, up from 33 six days prior, staying in progression toward the opening series of the regular season with time still for three more exhibition starts to further prepare.

Emmet Sheehan got the ball to start the fourth, pitching in his first game this spring (not including some simulated action on the backfields). While there is still time enough in camp to build up his innings, Sheehan didn’t do himself any favors by recording only four outs in his nine batters faced.

Mexico got three singles and two walks off Sheehan, who didn’t strike anyone out on Wednesday. One run scored against him but it could have been worse, having left with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth inning. But Carlos Duran induced an inning-ending double play to strand all three runners.

Keeping options open

With Pages at DH on Wednesday, Alex Call got the start in center field, his first time at the position this spring.

Call played one inning in center field for the Dodgers after getting acquired last July, and over the last two seasons with the Washington Nationals totaled seven games, four starts, and 46 innings at the position. In his career Call has started 85 games in center, 77 of them coming in 2023.

Dodgers links – who rounds out the Dodgers’ rotation, Rushing’s future

imagn-28367755.jpg

One thing that has been a constant for the last few seasons is how deep the Dodgers’ pitching staff is to start Spring Training. Another thing that has been a constant is a few weeks into the season, there are inevitably issues and/or injuries and the Dodgers need to pivot from their original plan.

This season is no different. If all the starters were healthy, they would have seven to eight viable candidates for the starting rotation. Alas, Blake Snell has not thrown off the mound yet this Spring, dealing with ongoing shoulder issues. Gavin Stone, who looked great in his first outing, has been shut back down after experiencing shoulder discomfort after his inning of work in a Cactus League game and then more work in the bullpen. Neither will be ready to start the season,

MLB.com’s Sonja Chen covered who the choices are for the spots after Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. Emmet Sheehan, Roki Sasaki, Justin Wrobleski and River Ryan are all mentioned as possible options. Wrobleski has looked the best so far this Spring, but of course all the hurlers have small sample sizes. The next three weeks should go a long way to rounding out the starting rotation.

Rushing’s future

Last season, Dalton Rushing spent most of his rookie season watching Will Smith and Austin Barnes covering the backstop roll. Barnes was released, and Rushing had more starting time. Then Smith wound up on the IL, and Ben Rortvedt stepped in ahead of Rushing to handle most of the catching responsibilities.

This season, Dalton is looking to step up his playing both in time and production. He knows that his road to full time backstop is blocked in the Dodgers organization, as Smith signed an eight-year extension. Jack Harris covers how Rushing is approaching this season here.

When will Ryan Ward get his chance?

Bill Plunkett of the OC Register covers how outfielder Ryan Ward has dealt with being in Triple-A Oklahoma City for three years, winning PCL MVP last season, and still not having been called up to the big leagues. Like Rushing, Ward is the victim of being blocked by players ahead of them and being in a stacked organization. Ward so far has handled it with patience and grace, but a good player can only stay in Triple-A so long. It will be interesting to see where Ward ends his season this year.

Santiago Espinal is cementing his place on the Dodgers roster

imagn-28409605.jpg

Process, process, process—the results of a spring training game matter most when they validate certain processes and reinforce an idea. The Dodgers scored a boatload of runs in a 14- 13 walk-off loss against the Reds; one of their expected regulars, Max Muncy, went yard, but what mattered more than anything else was the validation of Santiago Espinal’s case to make the Opening Day roster as a utility bat off the bench.

Espinal, who entered the game scorching hot this spring, having gone 8 for 14 in his first six games with a couple of extra-base hits, went yard twice, responsible for half a dozen RBI. Adding further praise to Espinal’s performance, those two home runs came against Emilio Pagán and Tony Santillan, two of the more experienced arms in the Reds bullpen.

Santiago hits his second homer of the game for the lead! #DodgersST pic.twitter.com/UTaXqovud3

— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) March 5, 2026

Once upon a time, an All-Star when he played for the Blue Jays in 2022, Espinal is coming off two horrendous campaigns with the Cincinnati Reds, and perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what his career needed.

Even before the game, Dave Roberts wasn’t shy about singing the praises of Espinal’s impact on and off the field.

Dave Roberts said today of Santiago Espinal: “It’d be hard to imagine him not being on the team.”

Espinal is 8-for-14 this spring, playing multiple positions defensively, and fitting in "seamlessly" in the clubhouse, Roberts added

ICYMI, from last week:https://t.co/hgSNAPIjGs

— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) March 5, 2026

Equally important as his production with the bat, Espinal, who played first base in this particular affair against the Reds, earns praise for his flexibility, having experience covering second, short, third, and corner outfield. It’s worth pointing out that there is a larger need at the start of the season for this role Espinal is likely to fill, given the fact that Kiké Hernández will begin the year on the injured list. Hernández is currently recovering from elbow surgery.

On the mound, it was not a pleasant time for the veteran Cole Irvin, on the hook for six of the runs the Dodgers allowed by giving up a trio of home runs, one of them at 114.5 MPH exit velocity to the very impressive Elly De La Cruz. The Dodgers led by three in the ninth when Jordan Weems came in to close the game, but Cincinnati ambushed him for four runs, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Next on the docket, the Dodgers will play an evening game against the Royals on Friday, sending out youngster Jackson Ferris to make his third spring start. Ferris has yet to allow a run in 2.2 innings of work.

Shohei Ohtani grand slam backs Yoshinobu Yamamoto in WBC opener

Shohei Ohtani had three hits, including a grand slam and double to drive in five runs and Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in Japan’s 13-0 drubbing of Chinese Taipei on Friday morning to open pool play in the World Baseball Classic.

Ohtani doubled to open the game in the first, then hit a grand slam and an RBI single in a 10-run second inning that put the opener to bed for Japan, the favorite to come out of Pool C in Tokyo.

— World Baseball Classic (@WBCBaseball) March 6, 2026

Ohtani’s five RBI in one inning are the most in World Baseball Classic history, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

That provided a great deal of run support for Yamamoto, who was slated to pitch three innings in the WBC opener, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters at Camelback Ranch on Thursday. Yamamoto would have gotten there were it not for an error and bout of wildness in the third.

After a perfect first inning, Yamamoto walked the leadoff batter in the second but immediately erased him on a double play. He got a groundout to open the third, followed by a throwing error by third baseman Kazuma Okamoto. That meant the strikeout by Yamamoto that followed didn’t end the third but rather was the second out.

He then walked the next two batters on 12 pitches to load the bases and was replaced on the mound by Shoma Fujihara, who earned a strikeout to escape the inning.

In all, Yamamoto threw 55 pitches in 2 2/3 innings in his third start this spring. He threw three innings and 52 pitches for the Dodgers last Friday against the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale before leaving to join Japan.

Japan’s next game is Saturday morning at 2 a.m. PT against Korea, who is also 1-0 in Pool C. That game will be televised by FS1.

The Dodgers were able to bounce back after suffering a walk-off loss on Thursday by shutting out the Kansas City Royals 6-0 on Friday.

The Dodgers wasted no time putting the ball in play to begin the bottom of the first, as Miguel Rojas and Freddie Freeman knocked a pair of singles to strike first on the scoreboard. Mookie Betts knocked his first extra-base hit of the spring to bring home Freeman before Teoscar Hernández traded places with Betts to make it a 3-0 Dodger lead before the Royals recorded an out.

Both Rojas and Hernández finished their evening going 3-3, with Rojas hitting a trio of singles and Hernández smacking a double and two singles. Freddie Freeman finished with three RBI on the night while Hernández plated two, both contributing in the second three-run inning for the Dodgers as they led 6-0 after four innings.

Ryder Ryan was given the start for the Dodgers having given up just two runs over five previous innings. Ryan struggled with command in the first inning, issuing two consecutive walks to Nick Loftin and Isaac Collins, but Ryan managed to pick off Loftin between first and second base and Dalton Rushing threw out Collins attempting to steal second base. Ryan had an easier time on the mound in the second inning, tossing just seven pitches and picking up a strikeout to end his day at the office.

Will Klein faced his former team for the first time in his career, giving up a single from Connor Kaiser as well as a walk to Peyton Wilson, but worked around the two baserunners with a pair of strikeouts in a scoreless third inning. Tanner Scott took over on the mound in the fourth inning, pitching a perfect inning on just 10 pitches with a pair of bookend strikeouts.

Antoine Kelly, Ronan Kopp, Edgardo Henríquez, Chris Campos and Wyatt Mills each combined for a five scoreless innings to close out Friday’s contest, allowing just two hits while striking out eight and walking three hitters.

Early Saturday morning action in the World Baseball Classic gave us a battle between two Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani and Hyeseong Kim each homered, and Japan beat Korea 8-6 at the Tokyo Dome.

Japan joins Australia at 2-0 in Pool C in Tokyo, with two games left to play, with Korea falling to 1-1.

Ohtani walked and scored in the first inning, then hit a solo home run to tie the game in the third inning. With a runner on third base and two outs in the seventh inning, Ohtani was intentionally walked, and later scored in a three-run frame.

In two games so for in the WBC, Ohtani has reached base seven times in eight plate appearances, with two home runs, a double, and two walks, with four runs scored and six runs batted in.

Dodgers notes: Andy Pages, Landon Knack, James Tibbs III

2025 saw Andy Pages fully emerge at the plate, with his 27 home runs on the season ranking second on the Dodgers behind Shohei Ohtani while being one of the best offensive hitters while playing at home. In the postseason, Pages was a shell of himself at the plate, relegated to bench duties during the final two games of the World Series.

Had it not been for a season-saving catch to rob Ernie Clement of a World Series winning walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7, Pages’ reputation as a postseason letdown would’ve made all the headlines. Instead, he enters the 2026 season as one of many unsung heroes during the Dodgers’ most recent title run.

Pages has performed well at the plate so far this spring to the tune of a .350/.364/.600 slash line with four RBI, and is firmly positioned to be the Dodgers’ starting center fielder this season. Dave Roberts noted that the team has instilled confidence in Pages as he continues to mature as a big league hitter and get past his postseason struggles, notes Doug Padilla of the Orange County Register.

“I do think (the Game 7 catch) can add that confidence because he was a big part of what we did all year,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “I hope that he learned from that last month, month and a half, whatever it was, and know he was still valuable to the end. He’s a confident young player right now.”

Landon Knack tossed three solid innings on the mound on Saturday against the Colorado Rockies, allowing a pair of runs on two sacrifice flies while also holding Colorado to just one hit— thanks in part to a horrible route by Teoscar Hernández in left field. Knack is one of a handful of young arms eager to be a part of the Dodgers rotation for opening day, but Knack has his sights on staying in the big league rotation throughout the duration of the season, per Courtney Hollmon of MLB.com.

Two years ago, James Tibbs III was selected 13th overall out of Florida State University by the San Francisco Giants. A year later, he was dealt to the Boston Red Sox in the Rafael Devers trade before being traded again to the Dodgers in the Dustin May deal. Now, he is putting on a show in his first big league spring training.

There is promise for the young outfield prospects, and Dave Roberts hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Tibbs making his big league debut at some point this upcoming season, per Jack Harris of the California Post.

“He’s on our radar,” manager Dave Roberts said Monday, after Tibbs belted a 458-foot home run, in a left-on-left matchup no less, for what has been his biggest highlight so far in camp. “I wouldn’t be surprised at all if, at some point this year, he makes his debut.”

Josue De Paula among 12 Dodgers sent to minor league camp

The Dodgers on Sunday afternoon made their second round of roster cuts in spring training, sending a dozen players to minor league camp, including top prospect Josue De Paula.

Ryan Ward and pitcher Ronan Kopp, each of whom were added to the 40-man roster in November, were optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The other 10 players cut were non-roster invitees sent to the minor league side of camp — pitchers Carlos Duran, Carson Hobbs, Garrett McDaniels, Jackson Ferris, Wyatt Mills, Jordan Weems, and Lucas Wepf; catcher Griffin Lockwood-Powell, plus outfielders De Paula and Kendall George.

These are the first cuts since 11 players were sent to minor league camp on March 2.

De Paula is tied for the Dodgers’ lead this spring with 15 games played, playing every day but once since the Cactus League schedule started on February 21, including the exhibition against Team Mexico last Wednesday. He had nine hits, including a double, in 27 at-bats this spring, with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Wepf is the only player sent down on Sunday who has yet to play in a game yet this spring.

After these roster moves, the Dodgers have 51 players remaining in minor league camp, including 26 pitchers and 25 position players.

Which Dodgers relievers are on your radar?

gettyimages-2265261915.jpg

In the previous seven days, the Dodgers have sent a total of 23 players to minor league camp, including a dozen after Sunday’s game. All but two players from the two rounds of cuts have been non-roster invitees to camp, none of them unexpected.

What those cuts have done is thin the herd a bit, leaving only four non-roster pitchers still in big league camp. Cole Irvin is the veteran starting pitcher of the group, back from pitching in Korea and already built up to three innings this spring. He could potentially be an early option if the Dodgers feel the need for someone to fill bulk innings. After all, we know they will use a ton of starters.

Chris Campos is also still around. He’s been a starter since the Dodgers drafted him in the seventh round in 2022, other than the times he’s been used in bulk relief (11 of his 13 appearances out of the bullpen the last two seasons lasted at least three innings). So far this spring he’s pitched exactly one inning in each of his three Cactus League appearances, and he’s done well, with three scoreless innings, no walks, and five strikeouts among his 12 batters faced.

Whether Campos will pitch in relief going forward or him sticking around a little longer in camp is a reward for his earlier appearances remains to be seen. But the other two non-roster pitchers remaining in camp are more traditional relievers.

Ryder Ryan is River’s older brother by four years. He’s allowed two runs in seven innings this spring with five strikeouts. His first three appearances were one inning apiece, and he’s pitched two innings in each of his last two times out.

Left-hander Antoine Kelly has gotten results this spring, allowing only two walks and no hits in his five scoreless innings, with seven strikeouts among his 17 batters faced. A second-round pick of the Brewers in 2019, Kelly hasn’t yet reached the majors, spending time in the Brewers, Rangers, and Rockies’ system over the last seven years. But he’s touching 99 mph this spring to go with a slider. Whether the Dodgers found a harder-throwing Anthony Banda remains to be seen, but Kelly has pitched his way onto the radar this spring.

There are other relief pitchers on the 40-man roster. Ronan Kopp, just added to the 40-man roster in November, was optioned on Sunday. Kyle Hurt is back from injury, Paul Gervase at 6’10 is literally hard to miss, Will Klein could parlay his World Series heroics into a spot in the bullpen, among the group.

For today’s question let’s ignore the expected arms in the back end of the bullpen for a moment. Which under-the-radar Dodgers reliever are you most looking forward to watching this season?

There are two weeks of exhibition games remaining before things turn real for the Dodgers, on March 26 at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. We have a pretty good general idea of the roster, with a few choices remaining.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto will likely pitch for Japan this Saturday, then once more for the Dodgers in preparation for the regular season. Tyler Glasnow went 2 2/3 innings last Wednesday and starts on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, possibly this time around the first Dodgers pitcher to last into the fourth inning.

Shohei Ohtani is doing his pitching work on the side while away at the World Baseball Classic, and he’s kind of in his own category, outside the realm of normal starting pitcher progression.

Roki Sasaki is a work in progress, Justin Wrobleski has been sharp in his three games thus far, and Emmet Sheehan is back on the beam after sidelined by illness earlier in camp. River Ryan has looked effective as well in his return from Tommy John surgery.

We know and can acknowledge that opening day is only a snapshot of a short period of a season that lasts over six months, and that several pitchers will be used throughout the year. But for our purposes today, let’s focus on the early part of the season. The Dodgers host the Diamondbacks for three games, take Sunday, March 29 off, then finish the homestand with three games against the Cleveland Guardians from March 30-April 2.

Today’s question is which Dodgers pitchers will start the first five games of the regular season?

The Dodgers’ lineup on Tuesday has their most players likely ticketed for the opening day roster than at any other point this spring.

Every Dodgers game on national television in 2026

gettyimages-2224824629.jpg

Here are all the Los Angeles Dodgers games during the 2026 season that will be available to watch on television or streaming nationally.

NBC Sports is the newcomer among Major League Baseball’s broadcast partners this season, signing a three-year deal to take over the former ESPN ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ slate as well as Sunday leadoff games on NBC, NBC Sports Network, and Peacock. ESPN will still have exclusive games this season and through 2028, but those will now be during the week.

Other national broadcasters are Fox Sports, Apple TV+, and TBS.

The Dodgers’ first game of the season will be exclusively on national television, with NBC and Peacock showing opening day, March 26 against the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers will also have three Sunday Night Baseball games on NBC/Peacock in July and August.

Six Dodgers Saturday games will be exclusively televised by Fox this season, beginning on April 25 against the Chicago Cubs. Two more games will be on FS1, though those games aren’t exclusive, which means the Dodgers’ own telecast on SportsNet LA will be available locally as well.

ESPN has already announced a little more than a handful of games this season, including the Dodgers on Jackie Robinson Day April 15 against the New York Mets at Dodger Stadium.

Three Dodgers games in the first half of the season will be exclusively on Apple TV+’s Friday Night Baseball, beginning with April 24 against the Chicago Cubs in Los Angeles.

TBS announced its Tuesday night games through the end of June, including two Dodgers games on that first-half schedule.

Apple TV+ has not yet announced any of its exclusive Friday Night Baseball broadcasts. Typically, Apple TV+ announces the first half of its schedule before the season, then announces each successive month over the course of the season.

The Dodgers in 2025 had 17 games exclusively televised or streamed nationally, with 16 such games in 2024, and 17 exclusive national games in 2023.

Apple TV on Wednesday announced its schedule of ‘Friday Night Baseball’ games for the first half of the 2026 season, through the end of June. Included are three Dodgers games, two at Dodger Stadium and all in California.

The Dodgers’ first game on Apple TV in 2026 comes April 24 against the Chicago Cubs at home. The Saturday game of that weekend series is also exclusively on national television, on Fox.

Other Dodgers games on Apple TV in the first half of the season are May 29 against the Philadelphia Phillies at home, and June 26 against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park in San Diego.

Games on Apple TV are exclusive to the subscription streaming service, meaning no local telecast, with one notable exception from two years ago.

The broadcast teams for Apple TV’s slate of Friday games include Wayne Randazzo, Alex Faust, and Rich Waltz on play-by-play, Dontrelle Willis and Ryan Spilborghs as analysts, plus Heidi Watney and Tricia Whitaker as field reporters.

Willis has called games for Apple TV since 2023, in addition to his broadcast role for the Dodgers. In addition to his role as studio analyst on SportsNet LA, Willis in 2026 will also call some Dodgers games on the network, as he did in 2022-23.

How Dodgers did in World Baseball Classic pool play

With the World Baseball Classic beginning quarterfinal play on Friday, let’s look back to see how all the Dodgers did during pool play in the tournament. Five Dodgers on the 40-man roster played during the opening round, as well as two minor leaguers. In all, nine Dodgers were active in the WBC, representing seven countries.

Star power

Shohei Ohtani reached base nine times in 13 trips to the plate in Pool C, with two home runs, a double, four walks, six runs batted in, and four runs scored, and did not strike out, helping Japan to a 4-0 start to the tournament.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto walked more (three) than he struck out (two) on March 6 in Japan’s opening game against Chinese Taipei, but got through 2 2/3 innings without permitting a run, throwing 55 pitches.

Edwin Díaz faced seven batters in Pool A for Puerto Rico, and struck out five of them, tossing two scoreless innings with one hit allowed.

Will Smith started two of four games in pool play for the United States, and had a double and single in six at-bats, with two walks, and one RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Hyeseong Kim hit a two-run home run for Korea against Japan, but that was his only hit in 10 at-bats during Pool C. Kim drove in three, walked twice, and stole a base in his three games. He injured his left hand in stealing that base in the 10th inning on March 8 against Chinese Taipei, and did not play in Korea’s final game of the pool.

Clayton Kershaw warmed up late in Team USA’s loss to Italy, but did not pitch in Pool B.

Minor leaguers

Jake Gelof played all four games for Israel, starting three at third base. He had two hits, including a double, and three RBI in Tuesday night’s win over The Netherlands. But in the other three games he was hitless in a combined seven at-bats. Before leaving for the WBC, the second-round draft pick from 2023 got into two Cactus League games for the Dodgers, up from minor league camp, playing third base both times.

Christian Suarez, who pitched for Double-A Tulsa last year, got one out for Venezuela in his one appearance. Venezuela already has a berth in the quarterfinals, but first will play one more game against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday night to decide the winner of Pool D.

Shawndrick Oduber, who pitched in 29 games for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga last year as a 20-year-old, was in the pitching pool for The Netherlands, but did not pitch in their four games.
