The NFL did not discuss this with the Players Union first. Many players aren't happy about this. The fact that the NFL makes most of their money off hits that are now deemed as 'illegal hits' is the sad part.

Not really... players usually make in the millions - thousands of dollars every game.
The NFL is about big hits, but not so much when the player gets paralyzed, I wasn't saying "OMG THAT WAS AWESOME!" When I watched Kevin Everett go down in the Bills-Broncos 2007 game** I'm happy there suspending people for these hits, he's lucky enough to be walking again.
Grand opening was pushed back once again, we'll just say it's TBA for now. We are still waiting on the completion of some custom development that has been in the works.
