NFL now will suspend players who make very violent hits/head to head hits to prevent injuries such as concussions.
 
James Harrison is considering retirement because of this. He is just talking, I don't think he means it though. He was fined 75k.
 
This rule isn't all that bad, but it seems like the NFL is trying to become soccer.
 
The NFL did not discuss this with the Players Union first. Many players aren't happy about this. The fact that the NFL makes most of their money off hits that are now deemed as 'illegal hits' is the sad part.
 
Line backer Channing Crowder says hes still gonna try and make "KO" hits.

That's a dumb attitude about it if you ask me. Sure he might be mad, but is it worth getting fined?
 
Yeah, I know. I think if the NFL really wants to make a point they would have to suspend players. I really don't hope that happens though.

Not really... players usually make in the millions - thousands of dollars every game.
 
I think tht si is the job of the defense to make blowing hits to the offense. I think this rule is bizarre!!!
 
When there's a huge hit in the NFL, you don't say "Aww... Poor guy! I hope he's not hurt!" You say "OMG THAT WAS AWESOME!"
 
Exactly. I'm pretty sure Roger Goodell could care less about what the fans wanna see though.
 
The NFL is about big hits, but not so much when the player gets paralyzed, I wasn't saying "OMG THAT WAS AWESOME!" When I watched Kevin Everett go down in the Bills-Broncos 2007 game** I'm happy there suspending people for these hits, he's lucky enough to be walking again.
