Hola,

Yeah, we're a new forum, so why is there an assortment of posts, especially from many years ago? Welp, it all started with a middle school kid starting a sports forum on a free forum host back in the day. That was in July 2009. He even followed the trend of naming the forum after himself, thus it was called Cmt Sports Forum. He had plenty of his pals from UpperDeckKids and UpperDeckU join the forum, and sure enough, he ended up having an established community that would run for a few years.

Anyway, if you haven't looked at the name by this post, I'm Cam. I don't know why I was speaking in the third person above, but I'll discontinue that nonsense now. Cmt Sports Forum was alive and kicking over on our free forum host, but we wanted more, especially since our free forum host was about to completely change its software, throwing away the custom style that we had gotten designed, and the custom codes, such as the ability to select your favorite teams and display their logos within your profile.

So we decided to take a leap, and we left the free forum hosting scene and started anew over at CmtSportsForum.com. That was back in 2013, four years after first launching on our free forum host. We used phpBB, following the promotion community (Forum Promotion) that I had come to love. On FP, we were also able to connect with lots and lots of helpful people. We were able to get a custom style designed and get all of the fantastic phpBB MODs installed from back then. On top of that, we were able to implement quite a few custom features. We really went all out, and in my totally bias opinion, the forum was awesome. Still, we eventually lost steam. By that point in time, we had all grown up, and Cmt Sports Forum had certainly fallen far down our priority list. It eventually kicked the bucket, and it had been gone since then. I believe that was back in 2016? Hard to believe even that was nine years ago.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of selling the remnants of Cmt Sports Forum to one of my friends over at Forum Promotion, after it was dead and abandoned. He attempted to move the forum to MyBB, and rejuvenate the community under the name of Community Sports Forum instead. No dice though, and that was dead pretty quickly. I eventually realized my mistake, and we were able to make a deal so that I could purchase the community back. By that point, the domain had expired, and it was just the database itself. That was probably in late 2016? Maybe?

So you're wondering, how does this time table skip to 2025? I fortunately still had a copy of the forum on my terabyte drive after all this time. Nine years went by, but we were able to get that old MyBB forum database uploaded and merged into a fresh copy of XenForo. Rather than naming all this after myself though, we're going with something different. SIDELINE COVERAGE. I'm no longer 12. I've got bills, work, many stressors in my life. The days of chilling on here all day and night after getting out of school at 2:45 are certainly behind me. But hey, I'm here to offer what I can, and I hope all of you oldies from back in the day are willing to do the same.

And here's what I didn't even mention yet. The original Cmt Sports Forum, the one on that free forum host. It's here too. All these years later, literally 12 years since we left that forum for greener pastures. It's back. Your accounts are here, your posts are here, it's all here. In a surprising twist, we were able to merge that history into this forum as well. So now we've got free forum host Cmt Sports Forum and self hosted CmtSportsForum.com both joined into the Sideline Coverage community.

Sixteen years of history, friends. Why not keep it going?
