The Indianapolis Colts have hired Ravens D-Coordinator, Chuck Pagano as their new head coach. It will be Pagano's first try as a head coach.

Pagano led the Ravens to allow the 3rd fewest points in the NFL this season.

The Colts new head coach said this of his new job: "It's difficult to leave the Ravens but I couldn't pass up on this great opportunity. I'm just thrilled and so excited. "

Thoughts?

Well, defensive coordinators seems trendy now days, and by the looks of it, they do a fine job at coaching! They're going a different direction, but still moving forward.

Seems like a good hire for the Colts. A lot of people are saying that everything is stacking up towards Peyton Manning leaving the Colts.

I don't think Peyton Manning will go to another team, but I expect his retirement in the next three or four seasons. The Colts seem to be doing whatever they can to push him away though. He didn't like all the coaching changes, he was injured all of last season, he's getting old, his replacement will probably get drafted in this year's draft, he seems to be having a feud with the owner, and he has a huge contract going currently that will take away a lot of the salary cap needed to turn the team around. As despite popular belief, the lack of Peyton Manning isn't their only problem. They have been going backwards ever since they lost to the Saints in the Super Bowl, as their defense and running game has proved ineffective. Without Peyton Manning, their passing game fell apart as well, ruining everything. They have a lot of pieces to fix. Their decisions in the draft this year will reflect the way the team plays next season. They plan to get Andrew Luck with their #1 pick, and then they should look into getting a young wide receiver just in case things don't work out with Reggie Wayne, a running back as Joseph Addai just isn't getting the job done, and there's the entire defense to worry about. They really need to draft a player that can contribute the way Bob Sanders did when he was healthy.

The entire system was BASED off Peyton. In order to be relevant in the future, they're going to have to focus on their defense approach.

It's a little saddening that the Peyton Manning era is coming to a close. I never was a fan of the Colts, but his legacy is there, he made the colts relevant.

The ending of the era seems sudden too. Peyton Manning lost to the Saints in the Super Bowl just a couple years ago. So much has changed since then though.
