Paul can't sign his new contract until July 10 but could agree to terms as of 12:01 a.m. ET.

Paul always intended to stay with the Clippers, sources said, and that sentiment was only strengthened when the team tabbed Doc Rivers as head coach and senior vice president of basketball operations earlier this week.

Once the Clippers got Doc Rivers, this was a guarantee. Clippers will be very good next year, could compete for NBA Finals in the West.

I have been thinking that the Clippers are going to win the Western Conference for the past couple years, and it hasn't happened. At this point, I don't feel like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin can get the job done.
