As the Chargers fan base continues to wait for the team’s final cuts past Tuesday’s deadline, they’ve been greeted with some positive news regarding running back Najee Harris.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are moving Harris from the non-football injury list to the active roster. Harris has continued to rehab and recover from his eye injury he sustained in a Fourth of July accident that has caused him to miss all of training camp and the preseason.

The #Chargers are moving RB Najee Harris to the active roster from the non-football injury list, per me and @TomPelissero.

During the broadcast of the team’s preseason finale against the 49ers, general manager Joe Hortiz said that Harris is “on track” and that he could be “good to go” for Week One against the Chiefs in Brazil. Now even after hearing Hortiz say that I am not completely sold. Harris’ workload in the final week of the preseason included walking around the field in a weighted vest and doing rehabbing off on a side field.

With two weeks left until the trip to Brazil, I don’t see Harris going from that to a normal practice load in such a short span of time. For now, it’s safe to assume Harris will be ready sooner than expected, but Omarion Hampton and Hassan Haskins will lead the backfield out of the gates in Brazil.
