Bills Mafia doesn’t want Buffalo to trade for Maxx Crosby

This past week here at Buffalo Rumblings, we were curious to learn more about how Buffalo Bills fans felt following the failed trade for defensive end Maxx Crosby between the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens. After failing his physical conducted ahead of his officially joining the Ravens, the idea of Crosby landing elsewhere was suddenly very much back on the table.

Since that point, Las Vegas is insistent on receiving near-identical (or better) compensation from a team hoping to make a deal for Crosby — this, despite that failed physical. Is his surgically repaired left meniscus as big a deal as Baltimore decided? Expecting him to pass a physical just three months removed from surgery is asking a lot, and it’s believed Crosby should be on track to resume a full workload at his usual pace once training camp season begins.

So how did Rumblers feel about the idea of adding Crosby, with everything out on the table as it is now? With the benefit of hindsight, most seem to think it’s unwise to pursue him, perhaps at any cost. The results of our poll showed that just 38% of voters were on board with the Bills making a successful trade for Crosby.

Just as we were discussing the potential for Crosby to land in Buffalo, the Bills made a move at the position by signing free-agent defensive end Bradley Chubb. In looking at Buffalo’s defensive end/edge rusher group, the questions regarding Crosby now become how he’d fit (as a featured player, undoubtedly), and who would lose snaps primarily among Greg Rousseau, Bradley Chubb, and Michael Hoecht.

To say that the Bills have solved their need at edge rusher at this point in time is unwise, and any team could use a player of Maxx Crosby’s ability regardless of their current roster. But there might just be enough hurdles and speed bumps to give One Bills Drive a second pause on renewed conversations. For now, it appears as though Crosby is back in the saddle with the Raiders. Perhaps it’s true that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
