One problem I have noticed with the Patriots the past few years is that with their great passing attack, running the ball is so unimportant to them. They don't really seem to keep running backs long-term ever either. I mean, come on; remember Laurence Maroney? He wasn't that great so it's a bit different, but Green-Ellis actually had a few pretty good games last season. He's underrated because of his lack of carries and most of his carries seem to be the simple up the middle small yardage situations. I think he could carry a team if he got more carries. For the Patriots, they'll probably pick up a running back in the draft. They don't seem to care about their running game. For the Bengals, it's a pretty good pickup, especially if they were able to get him cheap. With him being so underrated with a few top running backs being free agents, I doubt they had to pay him much.
