The reigning World Series Champs have signed outfielder Carlos Beltran to a two-year contract, pending results of a physical.

Beltran batted .300 with 22 home runs and 84 RBIs for the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants last season.

I think this is a good start to getting back the bat you got from Pujols, but they still have a ways to go to get back to where they were.

NOTE: I also forgot to make a post about it, but the Cardinals also picked up shortstop Rafael Furcal earlier this postseason.

What do you guys think of this signing?

This looks like it will be a good pick up for them. After losing Pujols, they are going to need some extra firepower hitting wise, and not they got Beltran to help them out.

Yeah, this will replenish some of the power lost with Pujols.
I think they'll make the playoffs next year.

It will be weird seeing him playing for the Cardinals. I've always pictured him playing alongside David Wright on the Mets. That is no more. He's a good pick up though, if he can stay healthy.
