So I was really excited to see that on May 7th, 2016, pitcher Bartolo Colon hit his first major league home run.  He's been in the league since 1997 and has had 226 at-bats before hitting this first homer.  He actually broke a record for the oldest player to hit his first home run (at age 42).  The previous record holder (AZ's Randy Johnson) hit his first home run at age 40.  Personally, I love Colon and have followed his career extensively.  He has a great come-from-nothing story.  The house he grew up in didn't even have running water, plumbing, and electricity.  I love it when athletes overcome tremendous odds and become successful like that.  I hope it's his first of many homers.

Haha, I love watching Colon bat. It's always an adventure! Good for him.

I just thought it was so bittersweet that even though it took him forever to hit his first homer, he got to break a record by doing so! He has had quite an illustrious career as a pitcher though. He's pitched for a ton of teams. I even remember seeing him play live a few times in the minors. If you watch the clip of the homer, the reaction from his teammates is priceless!

That's a pretty sad record in the game of baseball lol. Not too bad for a pitcher though. I think there are still some pitchers that have never hit a homerun, so good for him. Dude looks like he has the build to where he should be able to knock them out the park.
