Atletico Madrid dumped holders Barcelona out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage for the second time in three seasons as Antoine Griezmann's double sealed a 2-0 win on Wednesday to progress 3-2 on aggregate. What Came as a Shock to most Fans may Change the Tide in Favor of Atletico Madrid . Atletico will be joined by Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich in Friday's semi-final draw. :erf:

Atletico Madrid really deserved it. They're really disciplined in their play and every player put on a great performance in that match. They managed to effectively shut down Barca's front three. For me Man of the Match was Felipe Luis, absolutely rock solid in the back. Also, the referee in this match was quite awful. Barca should've been given 2 red cards, and they also should be given a penalty at the end. But the one that forced the penalty was Iniesta, a player that should've been sent off earlier so they really couldn't complain much about it.

It was a very good game by Diego's boys. I also like the discipline and fighting on the pitch. Not literally of course but they are a bunch of strong boys. I have to say I am glad Barca is out because they get on my nerves sometimes when they could take obvious shots but they just go on with passing. With Raijkaard and Guardiola that was okay but even then they had likes of Ronaldinho who could do anything with the ball and he had unbelievable shot. These guys now just loose the idea in so many passes. I just want to shout at them, "Take the bloody shot!!!!!!!" I only feel sorry for their best player, Mascherano, of course. He is just pure class.

Sad news.... really a disapointment to see a great team out this way. I agree it was a very good game but the result could be different if the referee was with a better attitude.

The problem that I've kept seeing on the recent Barcelona side's since Xavi's retirement is that they no longer have the same control at midfield that they used to have before. And on top of that, Luis Enrique, instead of addressing this by trying to keep the midfield a little bit more tight, especially when they are in an advantageous position, they keep playing very open and exposing their defence that, let's face it, it's not the greatest that they could have. The combination of a shaky midfield and an average defence is a recipe for disaster if your strikers don't convert their chances or you have to face a strong defence like it happened against Atletico.
